Collas out as Amiga president
According to ZDNet, Jim Collas is no longer president of Amiga.
Summary of the article:
Jim Collas leaves the company for personal reasons, and has registered his 118.000 stock shares for sale. Moreover it is reported that Gateway paid 13 million US-Dollar for 47 Amiga patents, and that Collas himself asked Gateway president Ted Waitt for the Job at Amiga. He moreover asked to run Amiga as a seperate company.
Tom Schmidt takes over the post from Collas. Before his joining Amiga, Schmidt has worked as General Manager for Allied Signal. He was not available for comment.
PS:
CNet also reports: Gateway's Amiga president jumps ship
The article states that Collas' leaving does not imply a change in plans, and the planned route will be continued by Schmidt. (ps)

Hello All,

I regret to inform that Bill McEwen told me as of
Tuesday he will no longer be under contract at
Amiga. Sigh.

I called him about some newsletter plans he had
in mind, only to receive yet another bit of
disappointing news.

Regards,
Fabian

Finland this year, will be on this Saturday in Vantaa. The show starts at

retailers and video films. Amiga's Petro Tyschtschenko and AmigaOS 3.5
previews will be there as well. Attendance is free of charge.

For those who can't attend, the Finnish Amiga Users Group will be hosting a
webcam and an IRC channel (#saku99 at IRCnet) with live comments from the
exhibition place. Please note the Finnish timezone (EET, GMT+2). You should
also check out the Saku 99 invitation intro in Aminet for pictures and
other highlights (demo/intro/saku99.lha).

Please visit http://batman.jytol.fi/~saku/english/ or our mirror site
http://tzimmola.tky.hut.fi/saku/english/, for further information. E-mail
inquiries may be sent to Janne Sirén (siren@mikrobitti.fi).

About Saku 99

Saku 99 will be the biggest Amiga event in Finland this year. Following the
success of Saku 98, which was visited by some 500 Amiga enthusiasts, Saku
99 is aimed to be bigger and better than the previous events. Mr. Petro
Tyschtschenko of Amiga has already confirmed his presence and other great
highlights are planned. Saku 99 will be held on Saturday September 4th 1999
at the Science Centre Heureka in Vantaa, near Helsinki.

About Finnish Amiga Users Group

organization for promoting Amiga computing and helping Amiga users in
Finland. Also known as Saku, after it's disk magazine, the group is trying
to accomplish it's goals by organizing meetings and by publishing a disk
magazine. Since 1993 the Finnish Amiga Users Group and it's predecessors
have released over thirty issues of the disk magazine and held several
public gatherings. Other accomplishments include the Web site and Sakunet,
a national Fidonet style network of Amiga related bulletin board systems.

FMdriver Update Version 1.12
Stefan Robl writes:
The FMdriver packet has been improved further:
All programs can now save in IFF format, too (8 as well as 24 bit). All problems with flicker or lines in small resolutions should be fixed, the FPS rate now looks much more stable, too. A serious bug has been removed that occured when there was no Prism24 module connected. The FMRecorder now offers several file formats, so it will work with every video software. Small changes and bugfixes.

Fast 3D gfx chip by nVidia
Heise writes, among other:
California gfx chip manufacturer nVidia presented the 3D chip for PC graphic gards previously dubbed "NV10" in Berlin. The GeForce 256 is the first graphic chip for consumer PCs that processes and displays 3D data mainly on its own.
With 23 million transistors, the GeForce 256 is more than twice as complex as a Pentium-III CPU (9 million transistors). Since it does geometry transformations and lighting calculations much faster than the PC CPU, it can create 3D objects and 3D virtual realities with much more detail and fluid moves. Thus, PC games can make use of curved and organic structures like in movies a la "Toy Story" and "A Bug's Life". (Full article - German - at the title link).
Here is another interesting link on the subject. (ps)

Seybold Conference: First Macs with PowerPC G4 CPU
MacGadget, among others, writes:
As expected, Apple CEO Steve Jobs presented a new generation of Macintosh computers in his keynote to the Seybold Conference in San Francisco, which are powered for the first time by the top-performing PowerPC G4 CPU. Apple called the new Macs "supercomputers", offering significantly more speed than the current Power Macintosh G3 product line. Apple starts shipping the first 400 MHz G4 system today. Versions with 450 and 500 MHz are bound to follow in the next two weeks.
The main performance specs are a 2x AGP bus, integrated AirPort technology, an Ultra 66 ATA system and an accelerated PCI bus. Jobs spend special attention on the AltiVec technology. This especially speeds up operations heavy on numerical calculations, like graphic applications. A special AltiVec-optimised expansion to Photoshop is included with every G4 Mac. The new systems will cost between 1599 and 3499 USD. A PowerPC G4 with 500 MHz is said to be much faster than a Pentium III with 600 MHz. The Power Macintosh G4 will be shipped in the same casing as the current G3 line, but not in blue-white but silver-white.
The new configurations in overview:
Power Mac G4/400, 64 MB memory, 10 GByte-HD, 32speed CD-ROM; 1599 $
Power Mac G4/450, 128 MB memory, 20 GByte-HD, DVD-ROM; 2499 $
Power Mac G4/500, 256 MB memory, 27 GByte-HD, DVD-RAM; 3499 $
(More details at the title link - German -) (ps)

Hyperion brings "Smacker" to Amiga
"Smacker" is an industrial standard video codec, developed by RAD Game Tools and used in over 1400 games. Currently, Smacker is only available for MAC (68k and PPC), DOS, Windows 3.x, 95 and NT. At first, Hyperion considered developing an own video codec, but since Heretic 2 by Activision and Shogo:MAD by Monolith make use of Smacker, it was decided to save developing time and purchase the license for the port, since Smacker is really fast and efficient when used with only 256 colors. smacker.com. Hotmail cracked completely
FutureZone writes:
Mail of every user readable | no password needed | details unknown so far | FutureZone has tested Exploit
The free mail service Hotmail has been cracked heavily today. With a web form it is possible to read any user's mail - without password. FutureZone has a corresponding link, first tests revealed: Every Hotmail account is readable. (Full article - German - at the title link.)
August 31st, 1999:
Heise writes, among others: Hotmail hole fixed for now
About twelve hours after the Hotmail hack became public, Microsoft reported the bug has been fixed. In the meantime, the Hotmail server was offline. Our editors however recieved messages until late in the night that readers were able to scan Hotmail accounts without the need for a password. After the Microsoft announcement at 2:00 AM local time, this seems to be impossible. Microsoft has not yet commented about the technical background making the attack possibe.
Spiegel Netzwelt, among others, writes: Hacker group claims responsibility for Hotmail hack
According to informations of the online news service "Wired", a so far unknown hacker group claimed responsibility for the move on Monday. The online magazine cites a Swedish spokesman that is reported to have made contact with "Wired". According to him, the group named "Hackers Unite" consists of a Swedish and seven US-Americans. The hackers made the backdoor public to bring attention to the insufficient security of Microsoft's products: "We didn't make this hack to destroy, but to show the world how bad the security really is at Microsoft, and that the company nearly has a monopoly on computer software", a 21-year-old group member is cited. VMdriver new version 1.10
Stefan Robl writes:
The new version 1.10 of the FMdriver packet contains numerous innovations; e.g. the limitation to graphic cards has been removed, programms are now running in satisfactory quality in 2-256 colors (!!). New are the programms FMInit, FMGrab (great for WebCams!), FMRecord/FMRecordDec and FMRecorder.
FMRecorder makes it possible to comfortably record videos with the FrameMachine. The program contains, aside from an anim viewer, a converter to encode the video as MPEG later on. You can download screenshots from the programs, and a MPEG animation recorded with FMRecord (and encoded with CreateMPEG) from my homepage. (ps)

FusionPPC: Only 380 of the needed 500 preorders recieved
Thomas Lorenz writes:
There are still many preorders missing. Here the latest news from the Fusion mailinglist:
From: Jim Drew msdei@ctaz.com
Subject: [FUSION]: PPC upgrade status
This is an official announcement from Microcode Solutions...
As many of you know, Microcode Solutions has been trying to establish a base market for its new emulations. We presented the public with a test marketting idea of pre-paying for a PowerPC emulation. We reached our base goal of 500 units (actually we reached nearly 700), and then we announced that we were now accepting the pre-payments. To date we have only 380 pre-payments (none of which have been processed), meaning that we are still short 120 units before we can commit to producing this product. It has been several months since we have been collecting actual pre-payments. We are spending an incredible amount of time and resources on this project (which is 1/1000th the revenue of our PC market), and we hope that we are not wasting our time by doing so. We ask that if you have not placed your order yet, please do so now. If we do not reach the 500 unit goal, we will not release the product, no matter how much we have completed so far... we will use some of the work for our PC version. x (ps)

Update GeoWorld
After more than half a year of work, today we finally finished the long-awaited update to version 1.1 of GeoWorld. GeoWorld, probably the best geographical software for the Amiga, has been expanded by the following features in version 1.1:
  • adding a new generic search function in the maxi search, enabling for the first time the search for special keywords in the additional databases like economy, history etc. (full text search)
  • complete rework and bugfixes
    • NewLook-Menus for OS 3.0+ (no more changing menu colors)
    • flashing pointer for cities and small countries now working correctly
    • scrolling of the maps pixel by pixel per keyboard
    • sorting speed-up due to presorted databases
    • faster search functions (in Assembler)
    • VisualPrefs now supported nearly completely
    • GeoWorld-Fonts can now stay in the same directory
  • interaction with all requesters now completely by keyboard
  • option to give distances in miles instead of kilometers
  • requester "no information available" now with configurable time-out
  • reworked and expanded prefs window (among others display mode, font, use, save or reset prefs)
  • expansion of the city database for Austria, Switzerland, Brasil and US cities (over 1100 cities with ZUP code, 6119 cities total)
  • expanding the city databases with details about country / state capitals
  • expanding the country databases with details about the Internet abbreviation (e.g. .de, .uk, .us)
  • informations about the databases are now kept in a seperate GeoWorld.data file, so an expansion of the databases does no longer imply a change of the main program
  • expansion of the info requester
  • rewritten and expanded online help
  • reworked and extremly expanded data about the inhabitants of the countries (over 100 kByte text!!)

The Update Nr. 9 and a up-to-date demo version are available from our homepage (title link), and should appear on Aminet (misc/edu) in the next few days.

ComputerWoche: Linux-based operating system competing agains WindowsCE
ComputerWoche writes: Amiga is not dead, new live as home information device
MUNICH (CW) - New details have surfaced about Amiga, the cult of the 80ies. It is intended to be mainly used as Information Appliance in the future.

Iwin

Iwin: product specifications of A510MP and A1010MP online
At AmiUpdate, the entry in the Sun Dealer Catalog is considered sufficient proof for the existence of Iwin. Here's the entry.
At ANN, there are two more interesting postingsabout the subject: 1. The manufacturer of the tower casings has been found, it is the company Antec. 2. Jeffrey D. Webster explains in a posting to c.s.a.m. why it isn't that hard to get added to the Sun Dealer Catalog.
Comment about the technical specification: It reads all too well. You cannot run the bus system with a 68060-50, however. You will never get the speed to the PCI bus to transport the data fast enough for the pixel rates of the gfx card. Not to speak of AGP. I consider that impossible with a 68060 CPU. A company without Amiga experience can never implement this stuff. For this, the subject is far too complicated. And how is all this intended to run without Amiga chipset?

Thomas Raukamp writes: About your comment about bus speed - don't forget that the Milan is running gfx cards on the PCI bus with 060, so it is possible. Far less likely is that the emulation of the Custom Chips is possible without modification of the Kick-ROMs. If they modify them, they break the licence since they have none. With this, Iwin would end in court.

Statement about the current status of the warpTrans project by WARP9
Full text translator for English-German, German-English (details at the title link). Since January 1999, a team based in Netherlands is working on the program.
Based upon a already finished dictionary the implementation has been possible at all. The language recognition is almost finished, and is unique so far on the Amiga in its high quality. An integration of this system into other applications is also possible. To bring the warpTrans project to a final version, the time until November should suffice.
Despite announcements, feedback of interested users has been sparse. While everybody is calling for new, innovative software... One ought to think that such a program deserved more attention. This does not seem to be the case. It seems like everything is already there and no one needs something new? (Full text - German - at title link). (ps)

AmigaOS 3.5 briefly presented on TV
In the (German) TV show "Neues", AmigaOS 3.5 was presented in a one minute report. Among others, the new HD-Toolbox was shown, which will support hard drives >4GB, SCSI and IDE. Aside from Internet funtionality and online manual, the Preferences were also shown. Although it wasn't a lengthy report, but it's great that the Amiga is seeing more and more media attention.
Thomas Nosutta wrote on the subject:
Since there have been a report about the Amiga as well as about the Computer Games Museum in Berlin, I wondered that the rest of the world would like to know more about it. So here are two links for those interested: 8-Bit-Nirvana (German) and Computer Games Museum. (ps)

geeknews: Q & A with Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner
Q: Will we see a project from Opera to support the upcoming AmigaOS?
A: We will have to wait and see. At this time we do not know what will happen with the new Amiga and what it really means. I have had my share of Amigas in the past and I still have a couple at home so I would love to see the Amiga prosper. At this time, however, we do not know what is going to happen. There have been a lot of announcements without results from Amiga Inc. and we are still waiting to see real results. If they deliver we will consider a port.

geeknews has not forgotten to ask about an Amiga version of Opera. As before, the situation is such that there is no development taking place. (ps)

akMPEG Animation Player version 2
Andreas R. Kleinert writes:
The akMPEG2 animation player is now available from my homepage. The archive contains an 68k version (040/FPU or better) and a PPC version, both as Overlay and 24-Bit In-Window version. Changes since version 1.00: Version 1.00 had only a 68k version and used the mathffp.library instead of the CPU, some bugs removed.
P.S.: I know the program does not support sound (MPEG Video with audio part). This will not change ;).
Download: akMPEG2.lha. In the next few days, the program will be available from Aminet. (ps)

New programs: FMdriver and AVL
Stefan Robl writes:
FMDriver:
Since the company electronic-design has stopped soft- and hardware development for the FrameMachine, and the software had some troubles on modern systems, ED gave me permission to continue development of this card's software.
The result is FMdriver, a completely rewritten driver tuned for high hardware compatibility and speed (including PPC!). The package contains a config tool and FMTV, which allows TV to be watched high-speed with CGX/P96 on the WB. More about it on my homepage. Download: FMdriver.lha.

AVL:
AVL is a simulation of self-learning bacteria on the WB. The user can influence it any time (feeding etc.). Guaranteed addictive! ;) Download: AVL.lha. (ps)

Review of the A4000 Power Tower
The author of the tower test has asked some questions towards Elbox, read their answers here:

Dear Petra Struck,
Two days ago you announced on your news side A4000 PowerTower test
in www.amigaextreme.com. Its author ask us a few questions after
placing the test in the www.amigaextreme.com.
We shall be glade if you will put our reply to the author's doubts
in this test. Please find the enclosed message on this issue from us.

Dear Stefan,
thank you for your message and interest in the A4000 Power Tower case.
Reading your description of the Power Tower in www.amigaextreme.com,
I have the impression that you must have been a little distracted while
installing Amiga in the new case.

First of all, seeing your photos, it seems to me that you were
installing the Amiga motherboard, the ZORRO board and the turbo card
without removing the side assembly wall.
The Power Tower stands out with its immense ease of assembly with its
removable specially-designed side assembly wall. After removing the
external case, the side wall is removed, which is secured with only two
hexagon screws. The Amiga motherboard, ZORRO III and the turbo card are
all installed onto this side wall when outside the main tower case.

You have stated that a better fixing of the ZORRO III bus board
would be useful and handy in the tower case. Well, it is ready and
waiting, but you seem to have missed it. Three hexagon bushes for
securing the ZORRO bus board are already mounted, with two more
provided in the box with special accessories and which are supposed
to be screwed into the holes in the Amiga motherboard. If you make
use of them, everything must run perfect.
Before the side wall with the Amiga motherboard, the ZORRO bus board
and the turbo card is replaced inside the case, you should have
installed a FDD floppy drive, your hard disks, a CD-ROM, etc... Only
now the side wall with all the electronics is to be mounted inside
the case.

Are you wondering what the STANDBY switch is used for? If you install
some cards in the ISA slots, which are present in the ZORRO bus board,
you can then use this switch :-)

As regards your CVPPC problem, you can order a special short-lenght
front bay for 3.5" devices to the Power Tower 4000. As a standard,
the Power Tower 4000 is sold with bays for 8 x 3.5" devices (1 front
bay for 4 x 3.5" devices and 1 rear bay for 4 x 3.5" devices).
Having ordered a special shorter front bay for 2 x 3.5" devices and
installing it instead of the front bay for 4 x 3.5" devices, you will
quite easily find room for your CVPPC card inside the Power Tower 4000.
You can also remove the front bay for 4 x 3.5" devices altogether, and
mount the floppy drive in any of the 5.25" bays with a 5.25"/3.5"
assembly kit. Your 3.5" hard disks, if you have not more than four
of them, you can then place in the rear bay.

I hope that all your doubts are now cleared. We are sure the new Power
Tower is an advanced design, and the ease of its assembly may be
something completely new to Amiga 4000 desktop users.

Please repeat the installation as I have written it here. I am sure you
will be more than pleased with your case then.
Anyway, if you have any more inquiries, please do not hesitate to
contact our technical support: support@powerc.com or support@elbox.com

Best wishes
Darek Smietana

Iwin plans to present the new computers in Germany
In a posting to csam Iwin states that they will release further technical details on their website within the next two or three days, and that Martin Steinbach has agreed with Thomas Raukamp of the German "amigaOS" print magazine to make a presentation in Germany shortly before the official release date. Thomas confirmed the agreement.
Still, we stay very wary, we can still imagine this could be a well-done hoax, and will only be convinced otherwise when we have seen the promised machines in action. (ps)

Iwin-Corp.

Iwin announces new computers based on Amiga
On the website, two new Amiga-based computers are announced. For one the A510, which is planned as a workstation with Motorola 68k (M-version) or PowerPC (P-version) CPU. The other is the A1010, with special CPUs for Java and multimedia applications added.
More links on the subject: The Register and AmiUpdate interview with Martin Steinbach.

Since the Iwin-Corporation (? I win?) is completely unknown to us so far, we did some research on our own. The domain iwin-corp.com has been registered on June 21st, 1999, by Martin Steinbach, 85375 Neufahrn, Germany. The given phone number is a mobile. The phone register does list neither a Mr. Martin Steinbach nor a company called Iwin-Corporation. The Iwin-Corporation is not registered as a licensee by Amiga. The software named is non-existant. The trademarks A510 and A1010 do already exist.
Due to this, we think this website is a fake. (ps)

Jason Kroll: BeOS Release 4.5
Thomas Wölflick writes:
I have found an interesting article in "Be Magazine" at www.bemagazine.com/articles/beos-4.5.html (title link). There, Jason Kroll writes about the BeOS Release 4.5 in whole, its chances and future.
Especially interesting was the honorable mention of Amiga in the paragraph before the last one. Here, he writes:
..."One impediment to development, and to users switching to BeOS, is that we don't know for sure how secure the future will be. For one thing, Amiga, supported by Gateway, is probably in cahoots with Transmeta, and based on the free Linux kernel, is about to make a monster reappearance, supposedly based on technologies we have never seen in home computers. How will BeOS fare against competition from the rebirth of the original multimedia machine?"...
Preliminary congratulations, fear of an undead, or how would you call it? (ps)

Macromedia wish list for Dreamweaver, IBM opens PowerPC design
Stefan Werner writes:
This news I found at benews.com, but it should be interesting for Amiga users, too:
Macromedia Wish List for Dreamwaver
Macromedia Wish Lists
Macromedia (creators of Dreamweaver, a WYSIWYG HTML editor and Flash, the industry standard web plug-in, among others) have two wishlists up at the moment for future release features. If you would like to see BeOS ports of these products, let them know! -snip-
An Amiga version of the two programs wouldn't be bad either, would it? I, for one, work with Dreamweaver for Windows professionally, and IMHO Dreamweaver is the best HTML editor there is!

IBM Opens PowerPC Design to Apple Rivals
Yves Crevecoeur found on MacWeek this news brief that discusses IBM's action to open the PowerPC platform. These machines will not run MacOS, however they will run Linux PowerPC and, we hope one day, BeOS. This newly opened design with a 450Mhz G3 (aka. PowerPC 750) was shown in the IBM booth at Linux World Expo. Systems using this design should begin shipping in Q1 2000 at earliest, no OEMs have (of yet) jumped on board the PowerPC Bandwagon says IBM. -snip-

This sounds quite like the Pios One, doesn't it? It would be interesting for sure to see the P5-QNX running on this box, with boot menu for Linux and BeOS :-) (ps) (ps)

Fusion Preorder has to improve
Thomas Lorenz writes:
Source: Fusion-Mailinglist
At Blittersoft only 200 users have changed their "statement of interest" in FusionPPC into a "real" preorder. The preorders can be placed at the title link.
Since the given deadline of 60 days for project realisation to availability will only start when 500 real orders (level 2) are collected, all who stated their interest, and all who would like to see FusionPPC come true, should order at Blittersoft ASAP. Blittersoft has taken over managing the preorders, so this is the only place you should turn to for a preorder (and not directly to Microcode-Solutions).
Orders can be placed by snail mail, too; Blittersoft accepts EuroCheques. For other ways of payment contact Blittersoft by eMail. (ps)

amiga-news.de celebrates 1st anniversary
We have grown up and learned running. Yes, parents among you will know that babies usually learn running with 13-14 months, but we are of the quick type :-). Meanwhile amiga-news.de consists of a team of nine, all of which are working on the news enthusiastically and with fun. We have learned much this year, some ideas are implemented, others are waiting under the desk. Until we get "adult", there will surely be many news coming your way, in both meanings of the word.
For the statisticans among you, some data:
On August 13th, 1998, the first news was posted: "CU Amiga Magazine cancelled". Back then we had a great 200 readers per month. September 98 they were 1000, October 98 1800, November 98 2700, in December 98 5400, January 99 11,000, February 99 16,500, in March 99 even 23,900, in April 99 again a great increase to 31,900, in May 99 36,800, in June 99 37,200, in July 99 47,000, and this month we will surely reach 50,000 readers :-) We are very excited about this success, and will keep pressing it.
On this opportunity, we want to say a global thank you to all who contributed to this site one way or another. Special thanks goes to all the other news services; without them, collecting the news would be much harder. We are also very thankful to all the attentive Amiga users and developers supplying us with news by eMail.
We would be very happy about birthday greetings in our guestbook :-). (ps)

LinuxPPCs CrackThisBox contest over
Linux Ticker writes:
The contest to crack linuxppc.org to win the machine is over, without anybody managing to crack the box. The reason given by the maintainer is (among others) that simply too much bandwith was wasted, and some people tried to crack systems of the ISP and its other customers. New Play16 (Eclipse Edition)
Thomas Wenzel writes:
While porting my audio software to 24-bit, the first thing to do was the ages-since-last-updated Play16. The new version 1.9, which has been completed yesterday, can now process 24-bit AIFF data. The playback, however, is still 16-bit. Next is an AHI-Record and AmigaAMP, and of course the AHI driver for the Prelude. As soon as the digital interface is available, the full resolution can be used with the appropriate equipment (external 24-bit converter). Play16 is available from play16.amiga.software.com (title link), and soon from Aminet. Aside from the expanded AIFF support, nothing much has changed however. There are more detailed error reports if you try to play back unsupported formats or compressions, and that's it. Please don't bombard me with eMails, what else weird features I should be implementing, I have no time for it :) I consider the project closed, and do only detail refining. (ps)

Maim & Mangle goes 3D hardware only
To really get the most out of Maim & Mangle, a "high spec" Amiga is required. Too many features are simply invisible without 3D hardware. So, we desided to support M&M for Amigas with 3D hardware only. The 68k version requires an 060. (ps)

Amiga getting more and more media coverage
Heiko Krappmann writes:
In the issue of PC-Praxis before the last one, there has been an article about AmigaOS 3.5. The report was about technical details and the release date. The MCC was mentioned briefly, too.
The latest issue of the PC-Joker printed a small article about our Amiga, too, sounding like this: "Did you already know that Amiga is to release a new computer with Linux, appearing this year?"
At Giga, Michael Labiner stated once that they would possibly switch to Amiga if there would be enough games to fill an issue. The video is available from PC-Joker, issue 7/99, MPEG format. Also many VIPs are "coming out" as Amiga fans, like Oliver Kahn (German soccer pro) at Giga. He said he had an Amiga once, and is missing it :-).

Rudi Rager writes:
In the August issue of the P.M. magazine, our Amiga is mentioned twice in the scope of a raytracing special.
Quote: "Oberland Computer now offers the made-in-Germany monzoom 3d for Windows, originally developed for the legendary Amiga computer." Further down the text, it reads: "One of the dream applications for pros, Cinema4D, developed by Maxon Computer also originally for the Amiga, is now available as an entry version."
The article starts on page 88, the Amiga is mentioned p.90f. Speaking for myself, I am very happy about little things like this :-).

Dirk Baeyens found the following article from ZDNet.com: Gateway to bring back Amiga.

More articles can be found on the Linux Special Page, where we collected all interesting articles about AMigaNG/Linux/QNX sorted chronologically (Wall Street Journal, ZDNet.com, ZDNet.de, FutureZone, Computerwoche etc.). (ps)
