Video: Improved internet access via BlueSCSI At the end of January, we reported on the new version 1.4 of Robert Smith's "DaynaPORT" driver, which uses the WLAN emulation available in the SD-based SCSI "drives" ZuluSCSI and BlueSCSI to connect any Amiga with a SCSI host to the network. In his video on the subject, he explains the changes and provides tips. (dr) [News message: 09. Feb. 2026, 10:34] [Comments: 0] [Send via e-mail] [Print version] [ASCII version] |

TPUG Magazine: Remaining copies of issue 26 In September last year, we reported that the club magazine of the Toronto PET User Group (TPUG), founded in 1979, was to be published in print for the first time in many years. After this was achieved, but all copies were sold out, Dr. Myles L. Skinner, editor-in-chief of the magazine, informed us that a small number of printed copies were available again, partly due to returns from events. For Amiga enthusiasts, this issue includes the article "Amiga Memories," an "Amiga Family Mini-Poster," and "Amiga Game Picks," a selection of Amiga games. There are plans to return with a new issue (No. 27) for this year's World of Commodore in December. (dr) [News message: 09. Video: Amiga memories - Shadow of the Beast In a new series, Martin Piper takes a look at games that have particularly stuck in his memory. The first episode is about Shadow of the Beast, which was released in 1989 by Psygnosis and developed by Reflections. He examines how it uses dual playfields, hardware sprites, blitter objects, and the screen scrolling. To do this, he uses the Coppenheimer tool written by Alexander Grupe. (dr) [News message: 06. Planned: Documentary film about SCUMM Australian Richard Moss and Englishman Daniel Richardson are planning a documentary film entitled "Passport to Adventure: The SCUMM Story" about SCUMM ("Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion"), a video game engine developed at Lucasfilm Games, later renamed LucasArts, to ease development on their graphic adventure game Maniac Mansion (Wikipedia). Based on interviews with key figures from LucasArts' SCUMM era, the film aims to provide an entertaining and in-depth retrospective on the challenges of SCUMM development, the multitude of influences and Easter eggs, the great graphics, and the best (and worst) moments of the entire game series developed with the SCUMM engine, including the first three Monkey Islands, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Maniac Mansion, Loom, and many more. Currently, Ron Gilbert, creator of SCUMM and Monkey Island, and David Fox (designer of Zak McKracken), among others, have agreed to participate in the film. "Passport to Adventure: The SCUMM Story" is still in the pre-production phase, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to finance its development. Before that, however, there is the opportunity to sign up for the newsletter. The goal is to collect a thousand signatures to form an "online focus group" that will help test and refine the concept and ensure that there is sufficient demand to bring the documentary to market. The YouTube channel "Cressup" has published an interview with director Richard Moss on this topic. (dr) [News message: 06.
