Blog: The impossible hot spot In his blog "heckmeck!", Alexander "Losso" Grupe explains a curious detail about the Amiga mouse pointer: the so-called hot spot, i.e. the active point of the pointer, is not stored as a normal coordinate in the preferences files, but as negative offsets - a consequence of an old bug in the graphics.library. This means that hot spots can even lie outside the visible 16x16 sprite, resulting in unusable pointers. Grupe shows examples from over 37,000 evaluated pointer files and warns against making manual changes to the format. In his blog post, he describes the peculiarities of the pointer in a nerdy and interesting way. (nba) [News message: 02.
