Printmagazin: Amiga Germany, Ausgabe 7
"Amiga Germany" hat seinen Ursprung in einer gleichnamigen Facebook-Gruppe, das Magazin im A5-Format kümmert sich schwerpunktmäßig um die Spiele- und Demo-Szene auf dem Amiga. Die siebte Ausgabe, die nun vorbestellt werden kann, wird 56 Seiten umfassen und folgende Themen beinhalten:

Emulator: WinUAE 5.0.0
Der Amiga-Emulator WinUAE wurde in der Version 5.0.0 veröffentlicht. Die Änderungen:
- Fully cycle-accurate unexpanded Amiga 500 emulation
- WinUAE 4.9.x/4.10.x bugs fixed
- AGA-only sprite buffer overflow that can cause random side-effects.
- CIA synchronize clock drift fixed.
- Many GDI mode bugs fixed.
- Integer scaling works correctly in Overscan+ and higher modes.
- “Remove interlace artifacts” was unreliable and caused graphics corruption in accurate modes.
- SCSI CD command READ TOC, format type 0 returned invalid data.
- Serial port and inter-process serial port was unreliable in accurate modes.
- VHPOSW/VPOSW mid-screen vertical and horizontal changes are now more accurately emulated. Smooth Copper / Up front demo specific hack is (finally!) not needed anymore and was removed.
- Multiple chipset emulation (bitplanes, sprites, blitter) bug fixes.
- Older bugs fixed
- A600 non-expanded Quickstart incorrectly had RTC enabled.
- D3D11 mode scanlines/masks are not affected by scaling anymore.
- Fixed possible crash in floppy emulation and when exiting GUI.
- Inserting supported non-Amiga formatted disk image (for example PC DOS formatted disk image) in standard Amiga 3.5″ DD drive was rejected, drive compatibility check didn’t accept standard 3.5″ DD drive. Image was accepted if drive was 3.5″ HD drive.
- Mounting executable as HD floppy image created broken disk structure if file was larger than 1329664 bytes.
- Notification icon -> Floppy drives: DF1, DF2 and DF3 selected image from DF0:
- On the fly switch from AGA to OCS/ECS and then back didn’t always restore original AGA background color.
- Picasso IV flash ROM emulation support.
- Prometheus PCI bridge PCI config space byte wide access endian swap fix.
- ROM rescan in ini mode didn’t clear previously detected ROMs.
- uaegfx and hardware emulated RTG board and emulation window smaller than RTG resolution: part of right or bottom of display was clipped.
- New features/updates: User interface
- Added new KS ROMs to ROM scanner.
- Added Disable keyboard and Disable game controllers when mouse not captured options to Pri & Extensions panel.
- Added custom data path configuration to Paths panel. Data path = default path where config files, logs, statefiles etc are loaded and saved.
- Bring GUI window on top if emulation window gets left mouse button double click or F12 (or configured GUI key) key press and GUI is open. Close GUI if ESC is pressed when GUI is open and emulation window has focus.
- FloppyBridge write protection status in GUI is now mirroring real drive floppy protection status.
- Hardware info panel shows complete memory map when emulation has been started.
- New features/updates: Emulation
- 1.5M Chip RAM size is now supported in all configurations. (Except if JIT is enabled)
- Added screen rotation support, to fully support Fast Draw Showdown (American Laser games) game that had 90 degree rotated display. D3D 9 and D3D 11 modes only.
- ECS Denise superhires sprite accurate color selection emulation (“scrambled” odd/even palette access).
- Keyboard reset handling changed, now system is kept in reset as long as keys are kept pressed.
- Programmed native display mode support improved, automatic aspect ratio correction improved.
- RTG hardware sprite (mouse cursor) is now properly clipped when near edges of screen.
- “Reset warp mode” implemented. Start emulation in warp mode, automatically switches off when running program or KS ROM shows something on screen.
- Serial port now have separate options to enable/disable handshake/status pin emulation (RTS/CTS/DTR/DTE/CD) and Ring Indicator.
- uaegfx RTG P96Prefs support.
- Striker Manager and Multi-Player Soccer Manager dongle emulation.
- Statefile complete blitter state save/restore is now fully supported in cycle-accurate modes. Previously blitter was force-finished before saving state.
- Ultra extreme overscan mode now includes blanking regions, HV sync and Composite sync regions drawn using grid pattern.
- Possible Breaking change: default keyboard layout changed
- Key left of backspace (key that does not exist in PC keyboards) is now mapped to F11 and key between zero and above key is now mapped to key in same physical location as key in Amiga keyboard. Input panel has checkbox that swaps these two keys.
- Key above shift and left of enter is now mapped to same physical location as key in Amiga keyboard.
- Strange German-only keymap special #-key mapping removed.

Theme-Set: 32se NEXT 7.00 für AmigaOS 3.2
Bei 32se NEXT handelt es sich um eine Ergänzung von Themes für AmigaOS 3.2 (Video) - zumindest unter Emulatoren, die Nutzung auf echten Amigas wurde vom Ersteller nicht getestet.
Die "Lite"-Version ist kostenlos, das Gesamtpaket ist für rund zehn US-Dollar erwerbbar. (snx)

Ausstellung: "Extraleben - Zeitreise ins PLAYstozän" im Stadtmuseum Wedel
Noch bis zum 26. November läuft im Stadtmuseum Wedel die Sonderausstellung "Extraleben. Zeitreise ins PLAYstozän - Retro Gaming im Stadtmuseum" (Einladung als YouTube-Video). Neben Konsolenklassikern von Magnavox, Atari, Mattel und Coleco werden die mit ihnen ab 1982 konkurrierenden Heimcomputer wie der Commodore C64 oder der Amiga 500 gezeigt. An Anspielstationen können ein C64-Emulator, ein Atari VCS, ein NES und ein Arcade-Tischgerät mit allein 60 Spielen ausprobiert werden.

Sprite/Icon/Map-Editor: Raster Master V1.7 R84 für Windows 10/11 (Update)
Raster Master (amiga-news.de berichtete) ist ein Sprite/Icon/Map-Editor für Windows 10/11, der RayLib- bzw. PutImagedata- und Map-Code für gcc, AmigaBASIC, Amiga C, Amiga Pascal, QuickBasic, QB64, Quick C, Turbo Pascal, freepascal, Turbo C, Turbo Basic, Power Basic, FreeBASIC, GWBASIC, BASICA, und PC-BASIC generiert (YouTube-Video).
Über die nun veröffentlichte Version 1.6 R83 schreibt der Entwickler: "Das ist eine große Sache! Wir haben so viel Code umgestaltet und noch mehr gelöscht! Aber der aufregendste Aspekt ist, dass wir jetzt wieder 32-Bit-Systeme unterstützen. Die frühere Methode, die für das Rendering verwendet wurde, war schrecklich in Bezug auf den Speicherverbrauch. Jetzt wird viel weniger Speicher verwendet.
Rendering und Scrolling sind jetzt viel schneller, alles im Haupteditor wurde vereinfacht. Alle Formen werden jetzt in ihrer korrekten Farbe gerendert, wenn sie gezeichnet oder in der Größe verändert werden."

Mittlerweile ist die Version 1.7 R84 veröffentlicht: der Sprite-Importer verfügt jetzt auch über die Optionen "Raster" und "Am Raster ausrichten", der Karteneditor hat ein Raster im Hintergrund, das bei Bedarf ausgeschaltet werden kann. Außerdem wurde ein Fadenkreuzzeiger in den Editierfenstern eingeführt. (dr)

Bildeditor: PyDPainter 1.1.0 für Windows, Linux und macOS
Der Bildeditor PyDPainter (YouTube-Video) ist inspiriert von DPaint und laut dessen Autor Mark Riale der Versuch, mittels PyGame ein brauchbares Pixelkunstprogramm in Python zu erstellen, das mit niedrigen Auflösungen und begrenzten Farbpaletten umgehen und möglichst einfach bedient werden kann (amiga-news.de berichtete). Die Änderungen der Version 1.1.0:
- Add stencil functionality
- Prevent active (floating) brush from being saved with CTRL-s
- Make sure color palette size is a power of 2 when loading
- Remove brush from Show Page Preview
- Fix cycle speed in palette requestor

Verschlüsselungsprotokoll: AmiSSL 5.9 (AmigaOS 3/4)
Version 5.9 des Open-Source-Verschlüsselungsprotokolls AmiSSL wurde veröffentlicht, die nun auf der neuesten Version OpenSSL 3.1.1 basiert und damit vier Sicherheitslücken behebt. Außerdem werden aktualisierte CA-Root-Zertifikate zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Änderungen im Detail:
- Updated OpenSSL backend to full compatibility with the latest OpenSSL 3.1.1 (30.5.2023) version, which includes one moderate and three low severity fixes for newly identified vulnerabilities:
- Mitigate for very slow OBJ_obj2txt() performance with gigantic OBJECT IDENTIFIER sub-identities.
- Fixed documentation of X509_VERIFY_PARAM_add0_policy().
- Fixed handling of invalid certificate policies in leaf certificates.
- Limited the number of nodes created in a policy tree.
- Updated root certificates to latest Mozilla-based bundle provided by https://curl.se/docs/caextract.html dated 30.5.2023.
- Added 8K minimum stack cookie to example programs.

Video: Experimente mit dem AMOS Layers System (ALS)
Simone Bevilacquas AMOS Layers System (ALS) verwandelt die Bildschirme von AMOS Professional in Ebenen, die übereinander gelegt werden können, bei voller Kontrolle über Reihenfolge, Farben und Deckkraft (amiga-news.de berichtete). Während eines Brainstormings für ein neues Spiel mit ALS hat er ein paar Experimente durchgeführt, die er in zwei Videos festgehalten hat (1, 2). Grundidee ist hier, dass es in dem Spiel zwei parallele Welten gibt: eine reale (gefährliche/dunkle) und eine illusorische (angenehme/angenehme), die für den Spieler zu verschiedenen Gelegenheiten jeweils sichtbar werden. Hollywood: Remedios 1.4 veröffentlicht
Von Remedios, dem Toolkit mit welchem sich Hollywood-Applets in native iOS-Anwendungen kompilieren lassen, wurde nun die Version 1.4 veröffentlicht. Mit dieser Version kann nun der iPhone- und iPad-Simulator auch unter arm64-Macs verwendet werden. Vorherige Versionen von Remedios haben den iPhone- und iPad-Simulator nur für Intel-basierte Macs unterstützt. Das Update auf Version 1.4 steht für alle Kunden kostenlos im geschützten Downloadbereich zur Verfügung. (snx)

Browser-Erweiterung: AGuide Viewer 0.2
AGuide Viewer ist ein Open-Source-Reader für AmigaGuide-Dokumente, der als Browser-Erweiterung implementiert ist. Sie funktioniert mit Firefox und Chromium auf allen Plattformen (amiga-news.de berichtete). Version 0.2 beinhaltet folgende Änderungen:
- The extension is less aggressive when intercepting URLs that
include the string .guide. The detection methods are now
configurable and can be turned off if they cause problems. Please
report an issue if the default configuration causes a problem. All
auto detection can be turned off and the extension manually
triggered if desired.
- Links that require more than a simple click to open now have
tooltips explaining what to do.

"Seq" ist ein einfacher MIDI-Sequenzer, der schnelle Bearbeitung und viele Funktionen für die live-Performance bietet. Änderungen der Version 2.7:

Arcade-Portierung: Amiga-Version von Tapper fertiggestellt
"Tapper" (Video) ist die Konvertierung des gleichnamigen Arcade-Klassikers aus dem Jahr 1983 für den Amiga. Nach mehreren Vorabversionen wurde sie nun fertiggestellt und kann unter dem Titellink heruntergeladen werden.
Bei dem Spiel geht es darum, durstigen Kunden an vier Tischreihen Bier zu servieren und leere Gläser wieder einzusammeln. (snx)

Video: Reparatur eines A590 Rev.6, Teil 1

CDXL-Converter: AGAConv 1.0.1
Markus Schordans AGAConv ist ein CDXL-Videokonverter. Es kombiniert einige existierende Tools, um Videos (MP4, etc.) in das CDXL-Format zu konvertieren, das mit AGABlaster oder anderen CDXL-Playern auf einem AGA-Amiga abgespielt werden kann. Die Änderungen der vor zwei Wochen veröffentlichten Version 1.0 und der heute nachgeschobenen Version 1.0.1:
- Fixed invocation of ham_convert for Microsoft Ubuntu App (terminal)
- Increased width and height range and maximum plane size.
- Enabled option 'unspecified' for screen mode.
- Added support for configuration files (default and user configs).
- Eliminated the agaconv script and integrated its functionality into agaconv.
- Added 'auto' modes to several options, simplifying its use.
- Added manual (man page on Linux). Also available on-line as AGAConv Manual
- Created AGAConv PPA package, making it available with an Ubuntu PPA installer

WHDLoad: Neue Pakete bis 27.05.2023
Mit WHDLoad können Spiele, Szene-Demos und Intros von Cracker-Gruppen, die nur für den Diskettenbetrieb gedacht waren, auf der Festplatte installiert werden. Die folgenden Installationspakete wurden bis zum 27.05.2023 hinzugefügt:
- 2023-05-23 improved: SWIV (Sales Curve) supports another version, options for weapon power/speed added (Info)
- 2023-05-23 fixed: Max Rally (Fortress) instructions in menu will be displayed now (Info)
- 2023-05-23 improved: Impact! (ASL) supports Blockbuster version, levels 1 to 128 can be edited, QuitKey works on 68000 machine (Info)
- 2023-05-23 fixed: Chuck Rock (Core Design) scrolling problem on AGA machines fixed, solution added (Info)
- 2023-05-21 improved: Suspicious Cargo (Gremlin) patch works with 0.5 MB chip memory and on 68000 now, RawDIC imager, 68000 quitkey support, manual included (Info)

Retromagazin: LOAD 3 (2017) auch gedruckt verfügbar
LOAD, das Magazin des Vereins zum Erhalt klassischer Computer e.V., erschien ab der 2017 herausgegebenen 3. Ausgabe aus Aufwandsgründen zunächst nur noch als PDF-Datei.
Zwischenzeitlich jedoch ist auch die dritte Ausgabe (Thema u.a.: "Akkuschaden am Amiga 2000 reparieren") gedruckt worden und kann bei APC&TCP oder im Restore Store erworben werden. Dort sowie bei poly.play sind ebenso die Ausgaben 5-8 weiterhin erhältlich. (snx)
