Tales of Tamar Enhanced: ToT Amiga 0.57
Press release Dear friends,

after over nine month of hard developing we are pleased to offer you the biggest, best and fastest update to Tales of Tamar.

The most important new features:

Most of the graphics are now reat hand painted 24 Bit-2D-graphics. Seperate quarters show different garphics that means in winter you see requesters e which are covered with snow and much more.

The start environment has been completely reworked to make the beginning of the game still more interesting and easier.

The speed of the card has been improved up to 20-50%. Ther HiRes and Widescreen-modus of the game should now run very fast on each system.

Additionally BardsTale was reworked. There are new stories to herbs and diseases.

We want to give a special thank to Hyperion, namely Robert Dickinson. Because of lending an AmigaOne you can be certain that Tales of Tamar will run on AmigaOS 4 in future.

Furthermore the game can be tested several months for free.

Network File System-Implementation aNFS (formerly known as ch_nfs) now under GPL
Since a few days there is a new open-source project on SourceForge.net: It is the source of the NFS file system (ch_nfs) written by Carsten Heyl which formerly belonged to AmiTCP.

A few years ago he released the sources as GPL and handed it over to Jens Langner. With this new project he is looking for interested developers who help to speed up the development of a NFS-file system for the Amiga sector.

With the new open-source project now called aNFS the programmer team try to get the source files of the old NFS-file system work under the new operating systems like AmigaOS 4, MorphOS or AROS.

Because the project is quite new developers are very welcome. At the moment some parts of the source files do not exist and have to be written again.

Interested developers may contact Jens Langner and can get further information about the status of development. (snx) (Translation: dr)

YouTube: Video "Space Wars" by Tobias Richter (1992)
YouTube user Kenzoid27 has digitized the animation "Space Wars" from the year 1992 from a VHS cassette, slightly reworked it and made it open to the general public under the title link, in order to bring back memories and to highlight what was already possible on the Amiga at that time.

The video by Tobias J. Richter (Story, Modeling, Animation), Carsten Fuchs (Program) Bjørn A. Lynne (Music) and Frank Brehme (Editor) was generated on two Amiga 2000's and three Amiga 3000's using the programs Reflections 2.0, Videoscape 2.0, Deluxe Paint IV, Scala as well as Music X and was recorded directly. AmigaOS 4: Origyn Web Browser 1.13
Jörg Strohmayer has published an update of the Origyn Web Browser. Further components are now used as so called shared objects.

Changes:
  • Fixed OWB bug 178 (fonts related endless loops) in the AmigaOS4 fonts implementation
  • If loading a page failed the progress bar is set to 0 now
  • Added tooltype DISABLEGIFANIMS, if it's set the anims are still played once since usually the last image is better than the first
  • Added tooltype DISABLEJAVASCRIPT
  • Using shared libcurl, libssl, libxml2, libxslt and libz now, you have to download sobjs.lha, extract it and and copy them to SOBJS:. Not required if you use AmiUpdate to update OWB, the new shared objects are installed automatically
  • The shared libcurl uses DEVS:curl-ca-bundle.crt instead of S:curl-ca-bundle.crt (since it's not a script using S: was wrong)
  • Mounting RANDOM: is not required any more
Download:
OWB.lha (2,8 MB)
sobjs.lha (1,8 MB) (snx) (Translation: dr)
