Sensible Days 2025: Official SWOS World Cup on July 26–27, 2025
The Sensible Days 2025, the official competition of the legendary Sensible World of Soccer, will take place on July 26 and 27, 2025, in Schokland (NL). This is where the SWOS World Cup for Amiga and PC versions of the classic game will be held. The venue is "De Pionier", which offers accommodation and full board for the entire weekend for participants and spectators, just one hour from Amsterdam. (nba)

Retro Games publishes new roadmap for product launches in 2025/2026
In a humorous video, Retro Games Ltd has presented its roadmap for new products in 2025 and 2026, explicitly naming next year as the release date for the previously announced THEA1200. Amiga-News.de expects the release in the first quarter of 2026 and a presentation of the device at gamescom (August 20-25, 2025) and amiga40 (October 18-19, 2025). The THEA1200 is said to feature a full-size case with a working keyboard. Further details have not yet been announced. (nba)

Kyvos: New QEMU frontend for booting AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS
George Sokianos has released Kyvos, a new application that serves as a user-friendly front end for QEMU. The cross-platform tool for Linux, macOS, and Windows is designed to make it particularly easy for users to set up and start AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS with just a few clicks, without having to delve deeply into the configuration.

Seligenstadt Pinball and Arcade Museum: Fundraising campaign for reopening
The Flipper and Arcade Museum in Seligenstadt is calling for support: Due to roof damage and the associated risk of collapse, the museum has had to close temporarily. While the exhibits have been moved to an external warehouse, the non-profit association For Amusement Only e.V. is in urgent need of funds.
That is why the "Museumsretter 2025" ("Saver of the Museum") campaign has been launched. You can support the museum by:

Whispers of the Woods: New action RPG for the Amiga currently in development
Developer Hoogames2017, known for the Scorpion Engine game "Dr. Dangerous", is currently working on a new game called "Whispers of the Woods". The atmospheric action RPG for the Amiga is still in the prototype stage, but a video on YouTube already gives a promising impression. The prototype can be played and takes players into an enchanted forest full of puzzles, mystical creatures, and dark legends - much in the style of Zelda or Speris Legaxy. An Amiga with OCS/ECS and 1 MB RAM is required. (nba)

AROS: Update on the further development of the 64-bit operating system
Since almost two years Krzysztof 'deadwood' Śmiechowicz is reporting on his AROS-related projects in the AROSWorld forum at the title link. In his latest article, he writes about the current status in the three areas of browser/software/hardware and gives an outlook on the goal of advancing the 64-bit version of the free operating system.
On the browser front, it would be important to be able to use contemporary web services - also in order to be able to compensate for missing software with corresponding online versions. With the beta version of Odyssey 3.0, the developers now have a browser with the same Webkit engine as Wayfarer 3.0 (its current version is 10.3, though). This allows to use YouTube, Google Docs, Discord and many other web services that were not available on AROS a year ago. He has thus achieved his first functionality goal.
With regard to other software, missing functionality would have to be supplemented either by re-compiling or emulation - whereby the aim is not to get every 32-bit program running, but at least one from each category of all areas to be covered. So far, 26 software packages would have been adapted for 64-bit by supporters.
In terms of hardware, the problem is that 64-bit systems do not yet support all components that can be used under AROS/32-bit - for example NVidia graphics cards. The aim here would be to restore that support and hopefully add newer, easily available second hand hardware. With AROS Portable, which uses virtualization technology to run AROS on modern PCs from a USB stick, there would be a significant interim solution now until it can run natively on such systems.
In the long term, the aim would be to create and maintain two lines of development: For those who want to use AROS natively, as explained above, a selection of the existing 32-bit software must be adapted and made to run on selected 64-bit computer configurations in order to serve as a basis for enabling 64-bit distributions that outperform their previous 32-bit counterparts from the user's point of view.
For friends of the AxRuntime path, a Linux-native desktop would be to be created from which a selection of AROS ABIv0 programs (32-bit) and AROS ABIv1 programs (64-bit) as well as programs newly compiled for AxRuntime (64-bit) can be used. Existing distributions could then be re-created using Linux as a base without the user having to accept any loss of functionality compared to the respective 32-bit version. (snx)

AmigaOS 4: SDL 2.32.8 and 3.2.18
The Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) multimedia library is now available for AmigaOS 4 in versions 2.32.8 and 3.2.18.
SDL 3, which was introduced in January of this year as version 3.2, offers an extended programming interface (for the GPU, system dialogs, the file system and webcams, among others) and an extensively revised audio interface compared to its predecessor. (snx)

Emulator: Denise v2.6
Denise is a cycle accurate and platform independant emulator which since version 2.0 can emulate an Amiga 500 and Amiga 1000 (Kickstart disks are required) in addition to a C64 (German YouTube video). The newly released version 2.6 offers, among other things, support for the Hires Denise chip (ECS) and hard drive support for the first time on the Amiga side. All changes:

Graphic Designer 0.5b (pre-alpha demo)
Graphic Designer is neither a painting program nor a desktop publishing or presentation application, but uses individual approaches from these by enabling the design of images by combining elements in currently up to twelve layers, which can then be saved as an IFF image file (or updatable project).
These permanently freely placeable elements can be images, brushes, text or image overlays and brush stamps. However, all image elements must already use the same palette; an automatic adjustment is not planned. (snx)

IFFChunkTool
IFFChunkTool is a command line tool for editing IFF files in relation to individual data segments, be it images, catalog files or 8SVX audio files. Thus for example samples can be extracted from the latter or the author can be replaced in catalog files or the palette of an image can be replaced. It is primarily intended for automated processing.
Supported are files in IFF FORM format only, the program requires AmigaOS 3.x. (snx)
