Amiga emulator for macOS: vAmiga 4.4b7
Dirk Hoffmann has released version 4.4b7 of his Amiga emulator "vAmiga" for macOS. Since the last beta version, mainly bugs have been fixed and minor changes made.
Among other things, the bug fixes include ensuring that mouse clicks are no longer dropped on MacOS Tahoe. In addition, the live memory view has been revised and now resizes correctly.
Among the changes, the border color in full-screen mode has been changed to black.
In addition, some features have been removed: The Disk and Volume Inspector tools have been removed, as their functionality is now provided by the recently integrated RetroVault app. The Quick Look plugin has also been removed, but may return at a later date once Apple provides the appropriate interfaces. Status report of the Warp3D driver for the PiStorm32 (PI4/CM4)
In an update from yesterday, Steffen Häuser describes the current status of the project to create a 3D library for PiStorm systems equipped with Pi4 and Pi CM4 (amiga-news.de reported).
The work of developer Dennis Boon on this project is not easy, as unlike the Pi3 GPU, there is no official documentation for the Pi4 GPU. Nevertheless, Boon hopes to be able to present a first working "primitive example" in a few weeks, which will not yet be a complete library or similar. Subsequently, many library functions would be implemented.
What where the big issues (which have been resolved, often with a lot of experimenting):
- Memory Layout between VC4 and VC6 differed
- MMU Differences VC4 vs. VC6 (VC6 uses physical addresses, not bus addresses, this was only found out quite recently that this difference was the reason for nothing working)
- Little Endian stuff which needed to be resolved for Big Endian
- issues around Assembler (talking of QPU Assembler here - the Shader stuff)

- Fixed issue where there was an error if Roadshow was not installed
- Fixed issue with paths where destination path was the root folder
- Revised handling for imported files
- Forced Unicam settings to be lowercase to prevent issues with FrameThrower
- Update to fix issue where non-English Windows reported 64 bits rather than 64-bit resulting in false detection of non 64 bit Windows
