Magazin: Sommerausgabe der Total Amiga eingetroffen
Von der Sommerausgabe des englischsprachigen Amiga-Magazins "Total Amiga"
sind noch einige Exemplare zu haben. Die Bemühungen von Fun Time World,
"Total Amiga" in Deutschland zu vertreiben, gehen in die nächste Runde.
Die aktuelle Sommerausgabe ist druckfrisch eingetroffen und FTW wird
diese an alle, die bei der Probeaktion mitgemacht haben, in den nächsten
Tagen versenden.
Wie schon erwähnt, sind noch einige Exemplare des Magazins zu haben.
Wer sich beeilt, kann in den Genuss der englischen Lektüre kommen. Für die
Probeausgabe zahlen Sie lediglich 6,50 EUR inklusive Versandkosten! Es
werden immer noch Abo-Interessenten gesucht, nur so wird es FTW möglich

Hello C= fans!
You can find some pics of the last show at our website. On this

you see Thomas Margolf with his SIDsyn and Arndt Oevermann who's working
at the demo show. On this page
you can see the stereo C64 from Dirk Kledtke. This was a great success and
the sound of this machine was unbelievable!
Also there's an English report of the show.
The next show we will organize is at June 28! This is a change of date
because of some accomodation problems. As extra we organize then an Amiga
Party! We want every Amiga freak to join us at this party! Look

Die Serverhardware von IOSPIRIT zieht am 28.04.2003 innerhalb des Rechenzentrums um. In diesem Zuge erhält der Server des Herzogenauracher Unternehmens neue IP-Adressen. Es kann daher zu temporären Ausfällen der IOSPIRIT-Website und -E-Mail kommen, auch wenn das Unternehmen versuchen wird, die "Downtime" so gering wie möglich zu halten. Musik: eXternal Format Rippers 2.3 verfügbar
Wer kennt nicht XFD und XAD von Dirk Stöcker und den Exoticripper oder
Eagleplayer. XFR ist ein ähnliches System, das das Beste aus all dem
zum Zwecke des Findens von Musikstücken und Bildern in Demos kombiniert.
XFR bietet eine Library und viele Clients für die einzelnen Soundformate.
Ein Genie für den Delitracker und den Eagleplayer und ein paar
Shell/WB-Tools, mit denen man im Handumdrehen ganze Verzeichnisse und
Disketten scannen kann, sind auch dabei.

Mit Amifish erhalten Sie ein kleines Tool, welches Ihnen hilft, Texte bei Babelfish übersetzen zu lassen. Da bei Babelfish einige Routinen geändert wurden, gibt es von Amifish eine neue Version vom 25.04.2003. Benötigt werden neben dem Programm: amarquee.library V54, MUI 3.8, betterstring.mcc, nlist.mcc und busy.mcc.

AWeb, ein kostenloser Webbrowser auf Open-Source-Basis, ist seit
gestern in der Version 3.4 GPL in einer neuen Archivierung erhältlich:
Im Paket sind neben dem ausführbaren Hauptprogramm auch die
Plug-ins, Transfer-Animationen, Icons-Sets und Installer
enthalten. Versionen für 68020, 68030, 68040, 68060 und ab

Dateimanager: DiskMaster Version 2.5RC10
Rudolph Riedel hat die Version 2.5RC10 seines Dateimanagers veröffentlicht,
und auf seiner Homepage zum Download bereitgestellt. Es haben sich folgende
Details geändert:
- Fit gemacht für Pfade länger als 256 Zeichen wie sie in
AmigaOS 4.0 unterstützt werden werden und (angeblich)
schon in MorphOS unterstützt werden
- Diverse Fehler korrigiert
- Neuer Kommando-Zeilen Interpreter aus dem RC3 Release wieder
integriert, nur diesmal ein wenig besser angepasst...
- Format der Konfiguration ein wenig verändert und interne Konfiguration
erweitert, um neuen Usern den Einstieg leichter zu machen
- Genaueres steht wie gewöhnlich im DM2beta.readme...

Bill McEwen noch Amiga CEO?
Nach Aussagen von Ray A. Akey

ist Bill McEwen nach wie vor CEO von Amiga Inc.
Von Bill Buck und Raquel Velasco wurde in einer Meldung bei
MorphOS-News.de
gestern in Umlauf gebracht, dass Gary Hare neuer CEO von Amiga Inc. sei,
mit dem bereits Gespräche geführt worden wären
(wir berichteten).
Bill Buck und Raquel Velasco bleiben bei ihrer Aussage, siehe folgende
Kommentare auf

nochmals ANN.
Carsten Schröder umschreibt diese verworrene Situation sehr treffend so:
"Die Nachrichtenlage wird immer verworrener: Mittlerweile haben Fleecy Moss
und Ray A. Akey, Mitglieder des Managements von AMIGA, Inc., einen Wechsel
an der Unternehmensspitze dementiert. Noch immer nicht zu Wort gemeldet
hat sich jedoch Bill McEwen, während Genesi den Wechsel nochmals
bestätigte und derzeit versucht, Kontakt zu Gary Hare aufzunehmen.
Fazit: Es gab zwar in der Vergangenheit schon diverse Konkurse und Aufkäufe
des AMIGA-Mutterunternehmens - aber an eine Situation, in der Unklarheit
über den derzeitigen Chef der Gesellschaft herrscht, kann ich mich
persönlich nicht erinnern.
Ich sehe derzeit zwei Szenarien, die diese Konfusion erklären, als am
wahrscheinlichsten an:
Szenario 1: Die Anteilseigner von AMIGA, Inc. haben beschlossen, das
Management auszuwechseln, es diesem (oder Teilen davon) jedoch noch nicht
mitgeteilt, während der designierte CEO bereits Gespräche mit Genesi
führte.
Szenario 2: Genesi ist einem Scherz aufgesessen. Eine absichtliche
Falschmeldung halte ich für unwahrscheinlich, weil dies dem Ruf des
Unternehmens überaus schaden würde."
Hier die Aussage von Amiga Inc's Ray A. Akey:
"Bill McEwen is currently the CEO of Amiga and the fact that there is no PR
to the contrary about this on our website means that there is no news.
Anyone describing the appointment of a new CEO as "old news" is obviously
posting information for their own motives and reasons since "old news"
requires it to be "new news" before it can be "old news" and since Amiga
Inc hasn't posted such "new news" then the motives of the person describing
it as "old news" while simultaneously putting this new news into the world
have to be questioned."
Hier die Aussage von Fleecy Moss:
"Has Amiga Inc changed CEO?"
Fleecy Moss: As of this moment Bill McEwen is the CEO of Amiga and if a new CEO
was to be brought in, it would be because of Amiga expanding as a company
and Bill needing to concentrate on being Chairman and President - currently
he is CEO as well and three top jobs in a company that is attracting the
attention we are is at least one job too many.
Any CEO to be brought in would be as part of the team and would be totally
in sync with the current strategic direction of the company. If someone is
posting information to the contrary then it can only be for ulterior motives.

Der von vielen Amiga-Anwendern lange Zeit herbeigesehnte
E-Mail-Client YAM (Yet Another Mailer) ist heute vom YAM Open Source
Team zum kostenlosen Download freigegeben worden. Lesen Sie im
Folgenden eine englischsprachige Beschreibung, die neuen Features und
weitere Informationen.
DESCRIPTION
YAM (Yet Another Mailer) lets you send and receive electronic mail
over the Internet and maintain archives of messages in your computer.
The idea came to Marcel Beck in 1995 when he first tried using email:
the programmes available at the time were either powerful but
complicated to configure, or else used a too limiting graphical
interface. The goal, therefore, was to program a cross between
AdMail and AirMail, with a few ideas from Pegasus Mail.
YAM made its first public appearance in early 1996 under the
"mailware" concept. The unexpectedly enthusiastic response
from the public led to a steady development of YAM that reached
its finest hour in version 1.3.5, the last incarnation in the
"classic" series. By then, YAM had turned into one of the most
popular Amiga programmes ever, and won Marcel the appreciation
and several awards from the Amiga community thanks to its
simplicity and ease of use.
Unwilling to stop at that point, Marcel spent almost two years
developing YAM2. In the summer of 1999, a greatly improved YAM
set some of the standards that would be lately imitated by other
popular Internet applications. In November 2000, Marcel finally
gave up out of lack of time and motivation, but was yet kind enough
to release the "final" YAM 2.2 together with its sources under the
GNU General Public License. On this day and age, Marcel Beck is
still fondly remembered by many as one of a selected few who made
a difference on the Amiga.
Today, after YAM 2.3 and 2.3p1 fixed some of the most outstanding
problems in the original sources and almost 18 months of hard work
have been spent, the YAM Open Source team is proud to make the legend
continue with YAM 2.4, the most powerful Amiga mailer to date.

real names and email addresses "on the fly" as they are found
in the address book or the email cache

- Automatic codepage detection and translation, specially meant
for cyrillic users.

- Automatically finds the suitable mailing list support settings
- Extended support for mailto: links
- Search function in the Write window

Genesi plant Teilnahme an AmiWest-Show
MorphOS-News.de berichtet, dass Genesi laut Raquel Velasco und Bill Buck eine Teilnahme an der AmiWest-Show in Sacramento, USA, plant. Die Veranstaltung findet am 26. und 27. Juli diesen Jahres statt.
Vorgestellt werden sollen neben MorphOS die neue G4-Prozessorkarte für den Pegasos 1, das neue Software-Bundle und eventuell bereits ein Prototyp des Pegasos 2.
Laut derselben Meldung bestätigten Raquel Velasco und Bill Buck zudem zurückliegende Gespräche mit Gary Hare, welcher neuer CEO der Firma Amiga Incorporated sei. (nba)

Weekly Q&A's mit Fleecy Moss - Runde 7
Das englischsprachige Online-Magazin AmigaWorld hat die Folge 7 der wöchentlichen Fragen und Antworten an und von Fleecy Moss, CTO bei AMIGA, Inc., veröffentlicht (Update, 17.03.2012, cg: Meldung um das eigentliche Interview ergänzt, da das ursprüngliche Dokument nicht mehr verfügbar ist):
1) ikir: Are Elbox working with Amiga Inc/Hyperion for OS4? Or for their SharkPPC compatibility?
Fleecy: We have a 'gentlemens agreement' with Elbox that we will not make any announcements or discuss plans, projects and products until they are ready to make those plans, projects and products public. If you want them to share that information, I would suggest you contact them.
2) sgm: Is the corporate market a possible target (in the light of the surging WebServices fever)? If so, is a high-performance XML parser being considered for OS4.x?
Fleecy: All markets are obviously targets but there is no point in entering them until you have a product, a pitch and a story. The creation of such obviously requires an expenditure of resources and since we are, as with most companies 'watching the pennies', we have to decide which subset from the whole range of opportunities is to be targeted first. If by corporate you mean 'enterprise' then that is not a first stage target but if you mean OEM or embedded then the answer is very much yes.
As for the XML parser, XML has been introduced with AmigaOS4.0 and will continue to spread until it is a system wide service.
3) Jose: It's been said and known that if AmigaOS is to be a server OS it will lose it's hardly earned advantages, and stop being AmigaOS as we know it. Could in the future be various versions of the OS with one being the continuation of the Classic in PPC, like most amiga users that have supported the platform for the past years seem to want?
Fleecy: AG1 was created with a very specific set of configurations in mind - workstation and desktop. Consoles, STBs and servers didn't really exist during its key definition and the idea of Smartphones, PDAs and digital consumer devices were science fiction. Having said that, the CDTV and then the CD32 were moves in the right direction but as anyone familiar with those devices knows, there were really a computer repackaged with extra bits hacked on.
AG2 is designed to accept that hardware is a commodity and that it can be configured and deployed in many different markets. This is part of the reason for the move to a service based architecture, because multiple configurations can then be created from a core set of services with configuration specific services being added or replaced by ones more tuned to the target device profile.
This will allow Amiga to offer a 'toolkit' to OEMs and to create 'distributions' for shrink wrapped markets - a console product, an eFamily product, a SoHo product, a hacker's product etc. Such flexibility gives us a distinctive advantage over having to custom chop a single product for each potential customer.
Rob: 4) Books on programming the Amiga are out of date and very difficult to obtain these days. Have you any plans to get some books published covering modern Amiga programming for the beginner. It is important to get some fresh talent into scene and not just rely on existing developers. Topics covered should include Warp3D, AHI and other more recent developements to AmigaOS.
Fleecy: I couldn't agree more. We intend to expend considerable resources on a full development toolchain, with good documentation and tutorials covering all levels. These will be developed in parallel with the development of the AG2 domains.
5) ssolie: Does Amiga Inc. still plan to take back control of the AmigaOS 4.0 source code (i.e. purchase it back from Hyperion) and produce your own releases beyond AmigaOS 4.0?
Fleecy: Absolutely. The transfer of AmigaOS4 to Hyperion was done for a number of strategic reasons, one being to protect the AmigaOS for the community and prevent it being left in limbo if anything should happen to the parent company as was witnessed after Commodore and Escom went bankrupt. We will reassert ownership when both Hyperion and Amiga judge the time to be right, and there are certain less than obvious benefits to maintaing the current situation.
The location of ownership has nothing to do with the future plans. Amiga Inc is fully committed to the development and expansion of AmigaOS way beyond AmigaOS4.0. Detailed planning and design for AmigaOS4.1 is already underway alongside the parallel path of AG2. AG2 technology will be rolled into the AmigaOS4 release family as and when it is ready but the two will not be dependent on each other - in other words potential delays in one will not affect the other. Contrary to the occasional speculation that Amiga doesn't care or has no plans for the AmigaOS, that product line is and always has been vital to our future success. Back in 1999, it would have been impossible to gain interest and investment in a company offering a desktop competitor to Microsoft and so our public strategy had to be tailored to fit that reality.
It isn't 1999 anymore.
6) DaveP: With the advent of AOS4 and AmigaONE series board are you also investigating the more lucrative possibilities in the heavyweight commercial sector or is it still far too soon to start? ( example: solutions, services and bringing even lightweight transaction processing products onto the fast reliable messaging codebase of ExecSG ?)
Fleecy: The Amiga Development Pipeline (ADP) starts with the Opportunity Analysis stage. Each AG2 domain thus considers every possible opportunity and attempts to identify every potential customer for that domain, both internal and external. This is then feed into the next stage, the Solution Description stage. This ensures that we will design a solution that covers as wide a customer base as possible, even though the actual implementation versioning may chose to spread out that complete design over a set of releases.
So to answer your question, yes we are looking at a huge range of potential markets, open, embedded, horizontal, vertical and total but our ability to exploit them is determined by the short, medium and long term strategic implementation plan.
7) alx: Will there come a point when you stop supporting accelerated "classic" Amigas? If so, when?
Fleecy: Yes there will. As to when, that will be decided by the simple equation of when the cost and effort of developing a version for those accelerated Amigas is more than the revenue that that version brings in. We want people to upgrade to the new hardware and we do recognise that we have to support the existing investment made by Amigans in the short term but ultimately the platform can only advance if people advance with it.
It should be obvious to most people that AmigaOS4 is going to run far more impressively on a new, cleanly designed, higher specified AmigaOne than an accelerated classic Amiga. It should also be obvious that the cost of maintaining and extending an AmigaOne is going to be substantially less than that of maintaining and extending a classic Amiga.
8) donV: Do you know of any plan or project to produce a laptop that will run AmigaOS4?
Fleecy: There are lots of plans for many different product, both from ourselves and from third parties but I do not want to comment on specific products until we have prototypes in front of us since many plans and good intentions often come to nothing. We'd obviously love to have an AmigaOS4.0 powered laptop as well as an AmigaOS4.0 powered STB, games console, PDA and Smartphone.
9) Bodie: In a previous Q&A, you mentioned the development of a highly advanced calculator for AmigaDE. Could you provide any extra details in terms of its functionality?
Fleecy: The calculator was created by a prominent AmigaDE developer in response to a demand from a large customer and I'll see if he is willing to write an article about it, possibly for CAM. It is particularly impressive because of its modular design, essentially a framework for functional units so it can be as simple or as complex as the set of modules that are installed. This means it can be used for a variety of functions - standard maths, computing, physics, chemistry, stock taking and with the ability for third parties to write their own modules.
It also features a variety of graphic and interface modes - static and dynamic graphing (and I know we have a customer interested in volumetric modelling), standard single line, multi-line and plans for a shell like page set.
10) Jose: Can a service based architecture(future AmigaOS) be as much effective as the Classic AmigaOS, comparing the services both provide? I mean to how much extent does a service based architecture would compromise the efficiency and the character of AmigaOS, if it does at all ?
Fleecy: A service based model is very efficient and not that much different at its heart from what the existing Amiga does now, a testament to its advanced original design. Its main extension is that it adds abstraction and management capabilities that open up distributed computing, all the way from simple home networks to parallel matrices. For developers there will be some new things to learn but quite a bit of that has been added to the new library model. The existing user interaction model can stay the same on top of it but it also opens up the option of far more advanced user interaction models, in particular moving from an application centric system to a content centric system - for example bring a set of content together and then being presented with the set of services that can be applied to that content.

AmigaOS-Spiel: BoulderDäsh RTX V5.17
Wichtigste Neuerung der neuen Version (Download über den Titellink)
ist wohl der Fenstermodus auf der Workbench, der von vielen Nutzern
gewünscht wurde. Außerdem wurden nochmals kleinere Verbesserungen
vorgenommen, die insbesondere die automatische Hardwareerkennung
betreffen.
Boulderdäsh wurde sowohl auf einem A500, einem A1200, unter Amithlon
und einer Vielzahl von MorphOS- und OS4-Rechnern getestet. Für Probleme,

Amiga Arena: AlphaBase-Vollversion und -Sources
In Zusammenarbeit und mit der Genehmigung von Maik Schmidt
ermöglicht die Amiga Arena erstmals die Freigabe der
Datenbank "AlphaBase".
AlphaBase ist ein übersichtliches
und leicht erlernbares Datenbankprogramm. Die variable
Feldbelegung im Adressmodus ermöglicht die Eingabe
verschiedenartig strukturierter (z. B. deutscher und
amerikanischer) Adressen in eine gemeinsame Datenbank.
Adressen können auf Briefumschläge und Etiketten gedruckt
werden. Bei nicht-adressenbezogenen Daten ist
die Einbindung von Kommentartexten, Bildern und
Tondateien interessant.
System-Voraussetzungen: AmigaOS 3.0 Workbench & Librarys sowie 1 MB ChipMem + 2 MB FastMem freier Arbeitsspeicher

"Blade" ist ein Action-Rollenspiel von Mark Sheeky in Iso-3D-Sicht.
Mark Sheeky wird sicherlich einigen Anwendern als Entwickler der
Spiele "Burnout" und "Hilt II" bekannt sein. 2000 veröffentlichte
die Amiga Arena erstmals eine deutsche Version und konnte mit der
Genehmigung von Mark Sheeky Blade in der HD-Version (AGA/ECS) zum
freien Download anbieten. Jetzt ist "Blade" wieder online, und
weitere Infos wurden auf der Blade-Homepage veröffentlcht.
Wählen Sie aus sieben möglichen Charaktern (Warrior, Dieb, Kleriker,
Zauberer, Zwerg, Elf, Empath) vier aus, und bereiten Sie sich

An dem alternativen Betriebssystem AROS wird weiterhin emsig
gearbeitet. Auf der Website finden Sie einen ausführlichen
englischsprachigen Status-Bericht zu dem Projekt.
- Eine Portierung für den Pegasos wurde jüngst in Angriff genommen.
- ide.device and cdrom.handler sind nunmehr stabiler als zuvor, Wechselmedien werden unterstützt.
- USB/UHCI-Treiber sind verfügbar, aber in der Praxis noch nicht nutzbar.
- Das Soundkartentreibersystem AHI wurde für AROS portiert.
- Die render.library und guigfx.library sollen bzw. sind bereits in Zune integriert.
- Das jpeg.datatype ist neu und das png.datatype aktualisiert verfügbar.

Die ersten AmigaOne XE Boards sind ab sofort beim österreichischen
Amiga-Händler point.design erhältlich. Sowohl die PowerPC/G4- als
auch die G3-Variante ist bereits eingetroffen und wird offiziell ab
dem 28. April von dem Unternehmen ausgeliefert.
Zum Paket gehören neben dem Mainboard eine bootfähige "Debian Linux
Install CD" sowie "Debian GNU/Linux 3.0r1 PPC Binary 1"
(Basis-Installation inkl. XFree4.0 und KDE). Das System kann
elegant über das Internet nach Kundenwunsch voll installiert
und erweitert werden.
Außerdem sind im Paket UAE (Unix Amiga Emulator) inkl. AmigaOS
3.1 Kickstart ROM-Images und ein komplett installiertes AmigaOS
3.1 inkl. "Magic Software Paket" enthalten.
Im Preis des Earlybird-Systems ist außerdem ein Update auf die
nächste Generation des AmigaOS 4 enthalten, das native auf der
Hardware laufen wird und von dem Händler kostenlos, sobald
erhältlich, an die Kunden versendet wird.

Rafal Kaczmarczyk hat die Version 7.3 Beta 8 seiner Datenbank 'XBaze' veröffentlicht. Das Programm bietet einen leicht zu nutzenden Editor für die Felder der Datensätze und dem Layout (Drag&Drop). Es läuft ab AmigaOS V3.0 und ab sofort auch unter MorphOS.

Call by Call im Ortsnetz: Informationsangebot bei teltarif.de
Am kommenden Freitag, dem 25. April, fällt das letzte Monopol im
deutschen Telefonmarkt: Das Ortsnetz. Hier konnte der Verbraucher
bislang noch nicht vom beliebten Call-by-Call-Verfahren profitieren.
Beim Call-by-Call-Verfahren wählt der Anrufer vor der Rufnummer eine
meist fünfstellige Call-by-Call-Vorwahl und führt das Gespräch so über
einen alternativen Anbieter statt über die Deutsche Telekom.
Schon jetzt ist abzusehen, dass die Verbraucher ab Freitag von
spürbaren Einsparungen profitieren können. "Ein kurzer 30-Sekunden-
Anruf beim Frisör oder Taxi kostet über den Anbieter 3U mit der
Vorwahl 01078 nur noch 1 Cent statt bislang 6 Cent über die Deutsche
Telekom," so Martin Müller, Geschäftsführer des Tarifvergleichers
www.teltarif.de. 3U bietet zum Start Ortsgespräche in etwa 1500
Ortsnetzen an und rechnet im Sekundentakt ab.
Arcor geht in etwa 36 Stunden ebenso mit einem Angebot für Orts-
und Nahgespräche an den Start. Die Preise liegen dabei jeweils über
denen von 3U, gelten aber auch für Gespräche zu Zielen, die vom
Gesprächsursprung maximal 20 Kilometer entfernt sind. Diese
Gespräche werden als Nahgespräche bezeichnet.
Bis Freitag erwarten Marktexperten noch die Angebote von Tele2 und
01051 Telecom. Weitere Unternehmen haben einen Start bis Anfang Mai

The Kickstart Archives Version 2.1

Das 2CD-SET liegt jetzt aktuell in der Version 2.1 vor.
THE KICKSTART ARCHIVES basiert vollständig auf HTML und ist somit
prinzipiell auf jeder Hardware und unter jedem Betriebssystem lauffähig.
Viele Rubriken wurden aktualisiert. Die Bereiche Werbung und Support
erfuhren gegenüber der Version 2.0.2 umfangreiche Erweiterungen. Design
und Navigation wurden überarbeitet. Auf der Startseite der Internetpräsenz
gibt es neben einigen Tutorials auch das Ikon Notes, unter dem
Rechtliches, Danksagungen sowie Reviews und Bezugsmöglichkeiten in
deutscher und englischer Sprache nachzulesen sind.

Von dem Malprogramm PerfectPaint von Halvadjian Georges ist Version 2.925 verfügbar. In dieser Version wurden folgende Merkmale hinzugefügt oder geändert:
- Improve PPM and PBM format.
- Separate Brush, Picture, palette and anim path for each buffer.
- New color correction tool:
- "Adjust RGB level", "Auto RGB level" and pixel count.
- "Chromatic correction" (usefull for chromatic aberration)
- "Optimize palette" and the arexx command:
Will remove unused color from the palette to reduce
the depth of the picture without lost.
Can also sort the palette with unused color in the end.
- Fix somme little bug with CMAP palette, brush album
- Keyboard F10: Now remove not only toolbox window but all floating window.
- Improve text requester
- Number of font in listview are now unlimited.
- Improve turboprint communication (correct Inch are send, Menu and color works well)
- New arexx command: pp_GetDPI
- Improve template requester, with preview.
- Fix a bug (introduced in the last version) with processing tool
- New powerfull processing tool:
MagicSpray, will spray current brush or severall brushes (Magic Album)
with variation of size, color, rotation, shadow ... in real time.
Include some MagicProject. Other MagicProject are available on PerfectPaint's Page.
- Little bug fixed with keyboard shortcut
- Brush preview is showed with full transparency (album requester)

A.D.A.: Zwei neue Intros von Nature
Der Demo-Online-Sammlung "Amiga Demoscene Archive" wurden mit
"Grid 2" und "Zeon" zwei neue Intro-Titel der schwedischen Gruppe
Nature hinzugefügt.
Grid 2: Nature ist eine dieser Gruppen, die stets versucht, die Grenzen der Hardware zu erreichen. Die Intro "Grid 2" wurde auf der Sceneveranstaltung "The Party 2000" veröffentlicht und erreichte den erstem Platz in ihrem Wettbewerb. Genießen Sie diesen coolen Flug durch riesige Tunnel, der mit fantastischer Musik unterlegt ist. Empfehlung!
Zeon: Zeon ist eine weitere coole Intro von Nature, wurde auf der
Mekka Symposium 2001 veröffentlicht und landete auf Platz 2. Code von
Pipe, Yomat und Pezac, Grafiken von Rex und Yomat und Musik von Pipe.

"Der deutsche Bill Gates": Unspektakuläres "Kimbeln"
Der Börsenboom ist vorbei, überall werden die Trümmer zusammengekehrt.
Viel Geld von Anlegern wurde verbrannt, aber Konkretes
wurde nur selten geschaffen. Die Resultate liegen irgendwo
zwischen der Schaffung von neuen Konzernen und Vetrieben
(AOL-Time-Warner, Amazon, ebay) und totalen Pleiten mit z. T.
kriminellen Luftnummern (Lets-Buy-it.com oder Kim (Kimble) Schmitz). Unter dem Titellink lesen Sie einen Artikel über Lars Windhorst,
ein Wunderkind, Hoffnungsträger und Jungunternehmer dieser Zeit,
der schon von einigen als der "deutsche Bill Gates" bezeichnet wurde.
Zwar hatte er etwas mit Computerhandel zu tun, hat aber im Gegensatz
zu Bill Gates nie eigene Produkte veröffentlicht oder gar
programmiert. Seine Bedeutung für die deutsche Computerindustrie
müsste eigentlich irgendwo unter Manfred Schmitt liegen. Das Thema
ist nicht ganz "Off Topic", weil es sehr schön Methoden, Auswirkungen
und Folgen einiger hochstapelnder Computer- und New Economy-Unternehmer
beschreibt. Wer noch immer glaubt, dass ein Kim Schmitz wirklich
reich und erfolgreich war, der sollte sich diese Story mal
durchlesen. Auch Leute, die in einer anderen Liga als Kim Schmitz spielten, haben inzwischen Probleme. (nba)

Veranstaltung: C-One Release-Party am 4.5.2003
Eine Computerlegende kehrt zurück: Der C-One, Neuauflage
des meistverkauften Computers der Welt (Guinnesbuch der
Rekorde), wird am 4.Mai 2003 offiziell bei einer
Release-Party eingeführt.
Der neue Computer wurde von einer Amerikanerin entwickelt: Jeri Ellsworth,
28, begann im Herbst 2000 mit dem Ziel den Commodore 64 mit modernen
Mitteln nachzubauen. Was als Hobby-Projekt begann, zog die weltweite
Aufmerksamkeit der noch heute aktiven Benutzergruppen auf sich.
Seit April 2002 ist die Aachener Firma individual Computers aktiv an dem
Projekt beteiligt. Wesentliche Dinge wurden in enger Zusammenarbeit mit
Jeri Ellsworth verändert, um den Computer flexibler zu machen als je ein
anderer Computer zuvor gewesen ist.
Beim vollkommen neuen Prinzip "reconfigurable computer" verschmelzen
die Grenzen der strengen Trennung zwischen Grafikkarte, Soundkarte
und Prozessor. Der neue Computer ist so flexibel, dass er sich
den Programmen anpassen kann, die auf ihm laufen sollen.
Zur eindrucksvollen Demonstration können nahezu alle Programme
benutzt werden, die für den legendären C-64, den meisterkauften
Computer der Welt (Guinnesbuch der Rekorde) geschrieben wurden.
Der C-One ist dabei um ein Vielfaches schneller, und verfügt
über Standard-Schnittstellen zur Kommunikation mit der Außenwelt.
Modernes Zubehör kann am C-One angeschlossen werden, aber auch
die Peripherie des liebevoll "Brotkasten" genannten Computers der
80er Jahre findet am C-One Verwendung.
Die Firma individual Computers und Radwar Enterprises geben am
4.5.2003 eine Party für den C-One.
Presse und Fachpublikum sind herzlich eingeladen, ins Cafe Bistro Campus, Markt 25, 52525 Heinsberg. Beginn ist um 19:41 Uhr, der Eintritt ist frei.
Jeri Ellsworth war bis zum Jahr 2000 Besitzerin der Ladenkette "Computers
made easy" an der Westküste Amerikas. Sie verkaufte die Läden, um sich
einem neuen Geschäftsfeld zu widmen: Der Entwicklung eines eigenen
Computers. Auch der Diebstahl eines frühen Prototypen hielt sie nicht davon
ab, ihr Ziel weiter zu verfolgen. Zweieinhalb Jahre nach Beginn des
Projektes ist es nun soweit: Der C-One ist fertig - made in Germany.
Die Aachener Firma individual Computers ist bekannt für Spezial-Hardware,
sowohl in Eigenentwicklung, als auch im Auftrag anderer Firmen. Es wird
hauptsächlich Zubehör für Computer angeboten, dessen Namen wir lange nicht
mehr gehört haben: Amiga. Aber auch für den C-64 und heutige PCs werden
Produkte gefertigt. Jens Schönfeld, seit neun Jahren Inhaber von individual Computers, sieht den C-One gleichzeitig als Schritt in die Zukunft und in
die Vergangenheit. "Mit der neuen Technik können wir Computer bauen, dessen
Rechenwerk bei Bedarf vergrößert werden kann, zum Beispiel auf Kosten der
Grafik- oder Musikfähigkeiten".
Radwar Enterprises begann Mitte der 80er Jahre als so genannte Cracker-Gruppe.
Seit 1988 werden Partys organisiert, die in der Szene Kult-Status erlangten.
Aus den Crackern von damals sind die Experten von heute geworden, die den C-One
schon jetzt als die Legende von morgen sehen. Man hat sich daher entschlossen, zu
Ehren des C-One eine Release-Party zu organisieren.

Bluetooth-Adapter am Amiga (RS232)
On a Bluetooth-enabled PC, Amiga Explorer also works with a Bluetooth serial adapter attached to the Amiga serial port. The PC side must support the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile, which makes it possible to select the Amiga side as a standard COM port in Amiga Explorer. Depending on the adapter, no configuration may be required (the adapter attached to the Amiga serial port automatically runs as a "slave"), or, in some cases, the adapter must first be connected to the PC serial port and configured via the included software. Some adapters have a built-in web server which allows for remote configuration.
In either case, no Bluetooth software is required on the Amiga. A 9-pin to 25-pin adapter may be required to connect a 9-pin Bluetooth RS-232 adapter to the Amiga DB-25 serial port connector. Such Bluetooth devices can cost as much as $200.00, and include Blue2Space's blue2link, Sphinx Elektronik's PICO Plug, LinTech's Bluetooth RS232 Adapter, Inventel's BlueAirPlug, Laurde's Serial Port Adapter and SMART Modular Technologies' Blue Lapis Serial Port Adaptor (these devices are not endorsed and have not been tested by Cloanto).
