Financial software: Bonds Version 1.84 available
Bonds is a financial software for bonds management of any kind, but mainly focuses on shares. This software is specialized for the financial center of Germany and best handles German bonds, since it uses the bond ident number system of the German stock exchange.

The current version again fixes some of the bug, of which a lot still exist, and some innovations have been implemented. The following items are enjoyable:

  • Enhanced installation script, which now asks in advance if the exsample charts shall be installed.
  • The depot manager now got its final form, you can already buy and sale, more actions are planned (share splits, etc.).
  • Slightly enhanced design, more detailed program messages.

AROS News: Success and reverse
»I just got a mail from the kind guys who provide us with free web and ftp space. AROS finally seems to have made it. We had over 10GB of downloads last month and that means, I have to take the FTP space down... (What kind of smiley is suitable for this ???).

So if you have lots of bandwidth to spare, call me :-) Until then, FTP is down. I'm in contact with Urban Mueller of Aminet but I guess he won't want to check in AROS images every night ;-) So maybe there will be an update just once per month or so.

Thanks go to the tireless AROS developers who have made us so attractive and to all the fans who still hold on to their beloved system :-) The images will come back, promised. And you will see the V1.0 of AROS :-)« (ps)

Adobe SVG Viewer for Unix
Since a couple of days Adobe is offering the SVG Viewer for downlaod on the page for unsupported versions as version 3.0 beta 1 in English for Red Hat Linux 7.1 and Solaris 8.

The SVG Viewer is a web-browser plugin for displaying vector images of the XML basing W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (see Heise's articel, German). The Windows and Mac versions have an ActiveX interface for the Internet Explorer and a Netscape plugin interface for Netscape 4.x (and by this it is supposed to run with Konqueror and other browsers supporting the Netscape interface at 100%). Contrary to that the Linux version has a Mozilla interface and does not support Netscape's plugin architecture which is poorly documented, anyway.

In a first try this plugin could not be used under SuSE Linux 7.2 with Mozilla 0.9.5 RPM, it was not recognized, but Mozilla 0.9.5 and the plugin still are beta versions. For the final versions a better cooperation of both may be expected.

With the Adobe SVG Viewer available for Linux and Solaris the popularity and use of SVG might increase very much.

Of course the Linux port is available as binary only unfortuantely, meaning that it mainly contains of .so files (libraries) compiled for x86 Linux. That is, though there is a x86 Linux port now, an Amiga port is as far away as ever. Even the efforts of Mozilla.org are promising more remedy. (ps) (Translation: mj)

Library: SDL V1.2.3 Beta
On 2. December 2001 Gabriele Greco published the Beta-version 1.2.3 of the Multimedia-Library "SDL" for AmigOS and MorphOS. All the improvements and bug fixes of 1.2.3. should have been implemented in this version.

The following amiga-specific improvements have been made:
  • Completely compatible with libnix (the 68k as well as the MorphOS version). Some demos (testsprite, testpalette) show that the libnix-version is 30% faster than the ixemul-version
  • Bugfix: A crash or a corruption of the memory list was possible in the hardware-accellerating and full-screen mode.
  • Modification: General clean up of the CyberGFX-Codes. Maybe this has also removed the Colors-Bug of Picasso 96 (wasn't tested).
Gabriele Greco is hoping to finish the final version by next weekend in order to add the new sources to the official Source and Development-Package on the official site SDL-Site.

The archive contains: include, docs, gcc 68k lib, SAS/C 68k lib and gcc MorphOS PPC lib.

The SDL enables the platform-independent programming of games and multimedia products.

BASIC: AmiBlitz User-Site now also for Amiga-Browser
Jens [bruZard] Henschel writes:
I have completely changed the design for the Blitzbasic-Site (www.blitz3d.x-cellence.de) since Amiga-Browser wasn't able to bring it up. From now on problems won't come up any more. Should it nevertheless come to some incompatibilities here and there, please inform me, so that I can solve the problem. Contact address: bruzard@x-cellence.de.

The site and the forum have been enlarged by an AmiBlitz-Section because of wide-spread interest. This will be filled up over the next few days. First, a tutorial for beginners will be published so that the Blitzbasic-Community might increase after all.

happy programming,

Jens [bruZard] Henschel (sd) (Translation: sr)

Amiga-Society.de: It's all over
Horst Diebel writes:
1.12.2001 - This is the end of the Amiga-Society.de. Why should we create such a site that is of no use at all and that only causes trouble?

This question has occurred to me over the last few weeks more and more frequently.

After our relaunch we had more and more attacks on our site and in particular on my PC, that is to say my e-mail address. A week ago it finally happened that I gradually switched off the e-mail addresses because only virulent e-mails were arriving.

The initiators will know what I mean.... maybe they have reached their objective in this way.

By the end of the year I will have the site switched off! The competition will of course be finished - relevant addresses will be available before the end of the year and approximately until the 6th January 2002. The announcement of the lucky winners will be around mid-January 2002.

After this event I will retire completely. The project "battlefield" will certainly be continued by some of the participants - alternative Internet addresses will probably be announced very soon.

BI would like to thank all the people who have helped create the site.

Bye....

Update 03. December 2001:
Dear customers, since the draw we have been planning on occasion of our KDH Advent calendar possibly would violate the rules of the competition rights, as it already was pointed out to us, we decided to stop this draw in the interest of a fair and justly unobjectionable competition. Currently it is being investigated to find a legal form to continue the draw.

bruZard's blitzbasic[3D][bbb3D] (ANF)

BlitzBasic PC & BlitzBasic AMIGA
For some weeks the site www.blitz3d.x-cellence.de (title link) is now online. It deals with the topic BlitzBasic on the PC. Since I come from the Amiga BlitzBasic I would like to create a section on this topic as well. Especially now that the development of BlitzBasic for the Amiga continues. It only justifies the efforts though if there are interested people who would appreciate that. So: who has interest in a BlitzBasic AMIGA site should show it by leaving a comment.

There already exists a bulletin board on the site which would also be extended by an Amiga section. I'd like to thank you already for your interest.
