Gameport Driver v41.27 with Amiga/Catweasel PCI-Joystick Support
The gameport driver version 41.27 with Amiga/Catweasel PCI support is online! Guido Mersmann has put together a new version of his lowlevel.library gameport driver, which includes the following alterations and fixes:
- BUGFIX:
Fixed bug in the QueryKeys() function, unfortunately that was overlooked because it was the only function that wasn't used in the test program. Thanks to Chris S. Handley for the bug report.
- FEATURE:
GamePortEnable now supports "VT82C686 Audio Codec 97" game ports on non-PC/Amithlon systems.
- FEATURE:
Support for the Amiga game ports has been added as well as for the Catweasel PCI flipper controller with both of its Amiga-compatible joystick connectors. The selection of ports has been more comfortably arranged.
The new version may be downloaded directly from the Amithlon-Homepage. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Eyetech: AmigaOneXE-G3 now available / G4 slightly delayed
Alan Redhouse (Eyetech) has announced on the A1 mailing list the availibility of
AmigaOne-XE computers with G3 processor. A few days ago was stated the delivery of G4
Amigas will be slightly delayed because of a too small CPU fan. Customers ordered an
AmigaOne-G4 who'd not want to wait any longer can change their order at their local
dealer into a G3 (as long as the stock lasts).
Later for the AmigaOneXE-G3 (after all ordered AmigaOneXE-G4 are delivered) there
will be a possibility for an upgrade to a G4 processor. The price for this upgrade
will be 190 Euro (excl. taxes and p&p). For customers ordered a G3 this upgrade will
maybe also available to other conditions. If you are interested ask your local
dealer.
In some forums single users have confirmed the delivery of the AmigaOneXE-G3. (ps) (Translation: gf)

Cloanto Releases Personal Paint 7.1c
Advances in emulation technology made it possible to push the Amiga 68K CPU and Blitter to speeds which were not considered possible a few years ago. In this context, a small bug in Personal Paint emerged whereby Blitter and CPU operations would not always be synchronized properly, e.g. causing some visual "trash" during certain alpha channel operations. Personal Paint 7.1c addresses this issue. This version was released today as a free upgrade to Amiga Forever users, accessible via Software Manager. Users of slower silicon-based Amiga systems are not affected by the issue. (ps)

PC/DOS-Emulator: DOSBox Version 0.58 for MorphOS
"DOSBox is a DOS-emulator using SDL for easy portability to different
platforms, DOSBox has already been ported to several different platforms,
such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, Mac OS X... DOSBox emulates a 286/386
realmode CPU, Directory FileSystem/XMS/EMS, a SoundBlaster card for
excellent sound compatibility with older games... You can "re-live"
the good old days with the help of DOSBox, it can run plenty of the
old classics that don't run on your new computer!"
DOSBox is an emulator which is, unlike Bochs, aimed at games that's
why it has good quality SoundBlaster emulation, joystick support,...
and unlike Bochs, DOSBox does NOT require the DOS nor a BIOS to run.
Please note that DOSBox still only emulate Real Mode: it basically
means that you'll be able to run most games/programs released before
1993-1994 (this includes great RPGs and a lot of 256 colors adventure
games which were never released on the Amiga). Almost every games
released after 1994 are running in Protected Mode: these games won't
work at all in current DOSBox.

individual Computers: New products and new cooperations
New product: Kickflash OS4
Kickflash was announced several years ago, but never released due to licensing problems. With the planning of the new PPC native OS4 for all Amiga computers with PPC CPU, Hyperion and individual Computers started a cooperation more than a year ago (May 2002). The result of this cooperation is "Kickflash OS4", a highly optimized flashrom card for the Zorro slot of classic Amigas. It reduces boot time of OS4 significantly, and comes at a very low price: 29,- EUR. Up-to-date flashrom chips allow up to 100.000 re-programming cycles. Kickflash OS4 will be available to betatesters this summer. Mass production will start in time for the release of OS4, so people will have the choice between tailormade solutions by all cooperation partners (also see ALGOR/ROMulus by E3B).
New product: RR-Net
Especially for the Retro Replay and the C-One there will a networking card for the C64 before the end of this summer. Together with Adam Dunkels, the author of the web-enabled Contiki operating system, the first drivers for this 10MBit-card have been made. Contiki even has web-server functions that can be seen on the Internet: The server http://www.tfe.c64.org is running on a stock C64 with a similar networking card! RR-Net will be available in August 2003 for 50,- EUR.
Transparent C64 cartridge cases
Due to the high demand, cases for the nearly sold-out Retro Replay will be available from June 24th, 2003 on. If there's enough demand, we might also produce other colours in addition to the transparent ones. To find out what colours that could be, the hacker-group Cyberpunx has setup a Voting-page. The price per case will be 4,- EUR, no matter what colour you choose.
Lyra back in stock
The Lyra keyboard adapter that allows using a PC keyboard on Amiga computers will be back in stock on June 24th. We apologize for the shipment delays - we were not prepared for the high demand of this product. A big thank-you goes out to our customers who were obviously so satisfied with their Lyra adapter that they recommended it to all their friends. (ps)

New AmiZilla Marketing Campaign Launched
A new AmiZilla marketing campaign has been launched. Companies and websites
that link to and promote the Dream of Netscape/Mozilla on Amiga get listed
and promoted. Top Zilla Marketers are the ones that promoted AmiZilla first
or come up with a very creative and interesting banner or animation for the
project.
What is AmiZilla?
I think that long time Amiga user Twistin'Ghost summarizes the project best
with the following press release he created. "In need of that killer app,
Amiga developer and resident platform fanatic Bill Panagouleas, of DiscreetFX,
is banding together the community in a bid to lure programmers to port
Mozilla to the Amiga platform. Donations are flowing in, an FAQ is in place,
and a devoted Message Board are all a part of this 'homegrown' project.
Panagouleas has put his money where his mouth is by donating $2000 out of
his own pocket, in addition to funding the site itself.
"It's this very kind of grassroots community involvement that has helped
to maintain the Amiga's status as a player in the Gen-IT realm," says
Panagouleas, a former employee of Commodore Business Machines. "(Amiga
users) have always been a tight-knit community that pulls together in
times of need. Some very impressive development talent are already making
inquiries and are showing great enthusiasm. I'm very excited."
The presence of Mozilla on the Amiga would provide additional voltage to
Amiga Inc.'s upcoming launch of its new Amiga OS 4.0. It will also help
users the Keep the Dream Alive by running a standards compliant mainstream
browser on MorphOS, Amiga Forever, WinUAE, Amithlon, and Classic Amiga's
running Amiga OS 3.9 ." Please keep the donations coming in so programmers
will be motivated to port Mozilla to Amiga/Amiga type systems.

Obituary: Jay Glenn Miner (31st May 1932 - 20th June 1994)
This Saturday 71 years ago, on the 31st May 1932, Jay Glenn Miner was
born. Miner is regarded as one of the most prominent chip designers in the world
and as the father of the Amiga.
In the middle of the seventies he developed the TIA chip, originally for medical
applications, later for use in the legendary Atari 2600. With the ANTIC and the
GTIA chipsets he laid the foundation for the Atari 8bit family.
After the founding of the company Hi-Toro which was later renamed into Amiga, Miner
worked on the joyboard, a revolutionary control device for the Atari 2600 and the
ColecoVision and on the work of his life, the Multimedia chipset for the 68000 based
games console Lorraine which was renamed into "Amiga 1000" after the purchase of
the company by Commodore and turned into a full-fledged computer.
Miner passed away on 20th June 1994 due to kidney failure.
He was regarded as a revolutionary computer designer and an extraordinary person.

3DO face bankruptcy
According to reports of the San Francisco Business Times, American video game
and hardware developers 3DO have filed for insolvency.
3DO became well-known at the beginning of the nineties by way of the games
console of the same name, which, although being technically superior, wasn't
able to conquer the hoped-for market share. The Rewood City based company had
recently been able to reduce debts with the commercial success of console games
such as "High Heat Major League Baseball" or "Army Men", but apparently not able
to avert bankruptcy.
Interestingly enough the 3DO console was designed with the help of the Amiga/CD32
by Commodore - former Amiga warhorses Dave Morse, RJ Mical and Dale Luck had a
significant share in the further development of 3DO.

The ALGOR is a Zorro II based USB controller that supports USB 1.1 and 2.0 (no highspeed mode) and has 512kB flash ROM integrated on the controller card.
The widely spread HIGHWAY USB controller can be upgraded via ROMulus with flash ROMs.

Emulator: A/NES CGFX version 1.33 in the works
Version 1.33 of the Nintendo Entertainment System emulator A/NES CGFX for

mousepointer on the screen while running the ROMs. For now, that's
really the major new feature of v1.33. :) I'll try to implement some
more nice stuff however.
By the way, I even tried to assemble the old
A/NES AGA code some days ago, if you remember it? :) I can't get it to
run properly however, dunno if it's because I have a different computer
today compared to when I last compiled those sources. Time will tell if
I manage to get it running someday... :p

USB Stack: Poseidon Update V2.1
There's a new update of the Poseidon USB Stack. It consists mainly of improvements and bugfixes of the Mass Storage Class, for Highway as well as Subway drivers. Through this a whole lot more pieces of equipment should run, which had formerly balked.
Newly come is a program for USB-Radios from D-Link, respectively GemTek. One can purchase these very cheaply on eBay, because it was put together in a friendly manner it was just a few hours work to create the drivers.
A bit more was invested in the new program for the management of my MP3 Player (Valencia MPX), which was available for purchase at Lidl in December 2002. This (and many similarly built units) are unfortunately not MSD equipment. With the Uproar tool this MP3 player may nonetheless be conveniently used. In case anyone else has such a gadget, I'd be very appreciative to hear some feedback.
This time there are two separate archives, for classic Amiga as well as MorphOS systems -- this allows simple installation.
That's just an intro, further details may be found in the ReadMe. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Amiforce: Snapshots of Aquarium and Port Royal
Telemar Rosenberger, known to many for his software "AmHuhn," has authored a screen saver
named "Aquarium" and a game named "Port Royal," with the help of the multimedia authoring system
Hollywood. Under the title link you'll find the first screenshots
for both of these programs. The programs will be published as soon as the
announced Hollywood
Version 1.5 is out.
The deal with Aquarium is that it's a screen saver with images of swimming fish, already known from other
platforms. Now AmigaOS too gets the enjoyment of this pleasing screen saver.
Port Royal is a new combat game, which is about ships firing cannons. With this one may, for example, calculate wind
direction in directing a strike, and naturally the enemy ships shoot back. (ps) (Translation: dm)

PC Games: Munich decides for Linux
»The Munich city council has decided today that in future on all 14,00 PCs and notebooks of the city Linux software will
be used instead of Microsoft programs.
The council followed with this decission a claim of the 1st municipal
Christian Ude. The migration to the open source operating system should be done steadily during the next years. Initially the public offices
which use mostly office applications should be changed to the new software.
The costs of this change including teaching courses are guessed to nearly 30 million Euros«.

AROS: Status Report May 2003
Another whole month has gone by, which means that it's definitely time for another status update. Doh, why do have all the status updates to begin like that? :) I'd like to thank all the people who showed interest in AROS in the last months, and there have been a lot! Anyway, let's not wait longer, here are the juicy bits, in this relatively uneventful month...
Hardware
Johan Grip received the Pegasos board at the end of April, installed Debian GNU/Linux on it, and started working on the hosted AROS port. However he was no longer able to continue for personal reasons, so he sent the board to Michal Schulz, another talented hardware hacker.
In the meantime, Michal, who already had a PPC PReP board, worked on the native PPC port. He merged his sources in the AROS CVS tree, creating the new 'arch/ppc' directory. To this day, he went as far as implementing task handling and scheduling. Congratulations Michal! Sources as well as a PReP boot image can be found at http://home.tu-clausthal.de/~misc/AROS.ppc.tar.bz2
Michal is also reworking exec.library to make it hardware/platform-independent, by moving dependent stuff in resources like kernel.resource, OpenFirmware.resource...
Build system
No fundamental changes to this sometimes hated system, but lots and lots of little bug fixes and improvements by almost every active AROS Team member in tools, config files, makefiles... So much activity caused quite a few broken nightly builds, but it seems now stabilized.
Also the newer gcc 3.3 that got installed on the build machine led to some problems, but nothing that couldn't be handled.
We now use bzip2 instead of gzip, and a custom, simpler package format than tar to create the AROS floppy and squeeze every possible byte. In the quest to more space, some less useful programs were removed from floppy. Thanks to Adam Chodorowski for the cleanup and optimizations!
i386-pc Installation
The installer for the i386 native port, install-i386-pc, is currently broken, but a graphical bootsector installer is in work, as well as a bootmenu editor, courtesy of Sebastian Heutling, who also still works on the HDToolBox partition editor.
User Interface
Adam Chodorowski began to work on the Zune custom class PreferencesWindow.mcc which implements the AROS standard prefs window buttons and look.
Paul Smith continued his huge work on the next iteration of Wanderer and the underlying desktop.library. It draws icons, and different views are possible (large icons, small icons, details).
Fabio Alemagna added horizontal and vertical color gradients to Zune images. Take a look at the obligatory screenshot!
By default, the Boot Shell is now closed after Wanderer is started. To open a new shell, use the Wanderer/Shell menu item, or use Amiga-W shortcut (Amiga key is the right Win key on pc105 keyboards)
Localizations
Thanks to Olivier Adam for his French translation of dos.library catalog, and to Paulo Silva for the Portuguese keyboard description (which Georg Steger implemented).
Miscellaneous
Some miscellaneous things that have happened:
- Staf Verhaegen continued to work on diskfont.library.
- Stefan Berger worked hard on ports of gtlayout.library and term 4.7, which can be found in contrib.
- Adam Chodorowski imported AHI 5.8 in AROS CVS, following Martin Blom's release of the AROS port.
- Georg Steger worked on the unix hosted kernel to allow nesting supervisor, so that signals occuring during a signal handler execution are not ignored. It should improve the stability of the serial device.
- and of course, lots of fixes here and there by many developers: for a rough idea, already more than 350 CVS commits this month (although we won't beat the record of 890 last month, according to the AROS-CVS mailing list archive).
Documentation
AROS documentation, in source and HTML-rendered form, is now available on the download page.
Web
Randy Vice set up an AROS support site, TeamAROS, at http://thenostromo.com/teamaros/.
Be sure to check their bounty program if you want to sponsor AROS development.

cURL Version 7.10.5
cURL is a client to get documents/files from or send documents to a server,
using any of the supported protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, GOPHER, DICT, TELNET,
LDAP or FILE). The command is designed to work without user interaction or
any kind of interactivity. cURL offers a busload of useful tricks like proxy

Philippe Bourdin released two new programs:
- "LCD test" tests LCD screen on defective pixels, as certain
colors are faded in, which facilitate a finding.
Download: LCD-Test.lha
- "Changer" is a program for looking for and replacing in files (also
recursive by sublists). The program uses "Regularexpressions" and Perl-5

Amiga Society: Update of Little Book and Schlachtfeld News
There are some updates for the Little Book available - short entries about games like Dune II or Celtic Legends.
For the fans of Schlachtfeld there are the following news: There
is meanwhile an Alpha9-Version - this runs among other things also
under UAE. Some systems, as for instance the A4000 from Horst Diebel
want to get along however not so completely with it. On the computers,
on which the play runs, one can select, against an opponent advance
its team and supply oneself with the opponent of engagements. At
present there are however still problems with aiming accuracy and the
shots generally - Christian works however on these problems. It gave
already large progress and moves the end of the alpha phase within
easy reach.

Die Kleine Gilde (The Little Guild) V0.2 is available as of now on Steffen Nitz' homepage.
Changes in version 0.2
- Added 8 computer players
- Fixed bugs
- Other changes I don't want to go into right now
- The game is now shareware (10 Euro), though the price may still change
The future gaming principle
The game is a round based economic simulation set in the Middle Ages from 1400 through 1600.
Furthermore it is also a realtime strategy game and a lifecycle simulation. The fascinating thing about "Die Kleine Gilde" is that you can and have to found a whole family dynasty if you don't want to stop playing after the death of your character but rather continue playing with one of your children.
You are a merchant who in the beginning takes on one of the starting trades, as there are: blacksmith, carpenter, stonemason, alchimist, perfumer, innkeeper, thief or preacher. When you have snatched up a little money you can also change trades, e.g. to become a money lender or choose one of the other starting trades. In addition you can run for office on country level, at the town council, the Church, as town civil servant, town myrmidon or informant.

Tao: intent 2 raring to go
In a comment to the article "Amiga DE a Good Idea, Poor
Execution" in the forum of the American news service amiga.org, Francis Charig, CEO of Tao, announced intent2 and clarified a couple of points. Please read Charig's full comment below:
"We will be announcing the launch of 'intent 2' in June. I can't say too much about it here as this is a public forum so please forgive me and remain patient through the next few weeks.
A few comments....
intent is a software platform targeted at resolving fundamental commercial issues faced by network operators, OEMs, ODMs, applications developers and content creators. We have been building a series of technologies in areas such as AV, Java and various new components and tools that get announced during June. To be able to provide a solution that meets the market's expectations, we have been working on threading them together so that we have a true platform. You'll find that we've been extremely successful in achieving this. The previous ADK and SDKs weren't good enough to enhance our reputation but that should shortly change.
During the last year-and-a-half we have had strong support from the OCPA which ratified the intent core APIs as its standard last year. Membership includes Sega, Konami, Bandai, Capcom, Taito, Qualcomm, TI, Motorola, Intel, Hitachi, Sony, Fujitsu, Pioneer, Epson, Kyocera, JVC, Sharp and Toyota, and so forth. Products on the market or being developed by Philips, Sony, Kyocera and many others supporting devices (DVCs, remote controls, home servers, PVRs, phones, PDAs....) incorporating MIPS, X86, PowerPC, ARM, SH, Embedded Linux, Smartphone, Pocket PC, iTRON, Symbian, VxWorks, the native intent RTOS show the unique breadth of the product as we had promised. We're getting traction from all of the targeted markets of our business.
Comments in the thread about Java support relates to the desktop where memory constraints and other factors make those solutions inappropriate for the kind of devices we are focussed on. In our area, intent is massively outperforming the capabilities of any alternative. Consequently we have been rapidly gaining network operator support.
However, while the Java language is an important part of the platform (I cannot understand comments in this thread that indicate Java has failed or doesn't have momentum), Java cannot be the entire platform because of its many limitations and the ability to transmit to networked devices fun content written in any language including scripting languages is important if we are to talk about truly open platforms.
I don't remember having had a single cross word with Bill McEwen since we began our Amiga relationship. We still see Amiga as an important potential contributor of content and other areas of value-add and we have made introductions of Amiga to various blue chip partners or customers of ours including some in the last few weeks. However, remember that intent has not been developed to be a replacement o/s for the desktop but nor have we ever claimed that it was. We have been entirely consistent in our aims and Tao, and we're making strong progress.
All the best
Francis Charig" (nba) (Translation: cb)

Milestone 1 of Jazilla released
After the appeal incl. fund-raising campaign initiated by DiscreetFX for porting the Web browser Mozilla for the Amiga, the works on various porting projects are apparently picking up speed.
Thus a first alpha version of Jazilla has been presented, requiring Java however, but which might in the mid-term be compatible with AmigaOS 4
and MorphOS, if these will fully support Java.
Significant features of Jazilla:
- chrome:// support
- JavaScript implemented for the GUI thanks to the Mozilla.org Rhino engine. HTML Scripting coming.
- GUI in part, uses XUL and W3C DOM
- Written in 100% Java
- Open Source
- Uses the NetBrowser renderer, which is actually based on Jazilla-classic work.

The Legacy is a games museum for C64, Amiga, Atari, PC, Schneider/Amstrad

"Manche Sachen sind ganz einfach und dauern trotzdem ewig lange, bevor sie
realisiert sind. Dass es eine Bewertung der Spiele durch die Besucher geben
soll, das wird wohl schon fast seit einem Jahr versprochen. Heute war nun der
Tag, an dem ich es einfach einmal umgesetzt habe. War auch garnicht schlimm...
Auf jeden Fall habt ihr nun die Möglichkeit, pro Game genau einmal eure

Stiftung Warentest: 0190 numbers - search engine shows netprovider
Stiftung Warentest reports in this article about a
search engine
in the Internet that is supposed to give information about which 0190 number belongs to which provider. This is an offer of the German "Regulierungsbehörde für Telekommunikation und Post". The search engine is active since Wednesday. Unfortunately it shows only the net provider of the calling number, therefore it's still complicated to search the people in the background behind the numbers. This search engine is a correct but only a first step in the fight against the unscrupulous dialer money makers.

Weekly Q&A's with Fleecy Moss - episode 11
The English online magazine AmigaWorld has published episode 11 of the regular questions and answers session with Fleecy Moss, CTO at AMIGA, Inc. (Update 2012-03-17, cg: as the original document is no longer available, the following content was moved into our database):
1) Temal: Are there any plans on trying to get companies back to the platform, such as Newtek? Is there any chance that Avid (video-editing) could be a reality on Amiga? (AmigaOS 4.x and forward) =)
Fleecy: As I have said previously, big companies want to see commercial viability OR a wheelbarrow full of cash before they are going to go to the effort of porting to a new platform. A few non Amiga companies have contacted us to find out about progress and plans and we have an internal list of companies we will contact. However, you often only get one chance with these companies so we want to make sure we have something compelling to show them when we do get through the door.
With regards to video applications, we intend to make a big play in the video market but this requires the implementation of the AG2 foundation for this to be a success. We already have one company that has contacted us with an interest in video editing and we will hopefully have more following them. In the end, we have to make the platform attractive for video editing development in order to attract those developers.
2) Ramon: Since there seems to be hardly or no audio people left at Amiga's main staff, can you convince us that audio development is being done and that the Amiga's audio system/engine will (perhaps after 4.0?) be at a high standard and be used for professional audio computing? High quality, flexible, plug-in capable, etc.
Fleecy: The Amiga AG2 audio solution is being designed by people who have a long history in professional audio application development. Its design has been evolving over the past year and will form the foundation for a big assault on the audio market over the next 12-24 months. We have been keeping an eye on the new MacOS 10.2 audio system and we are more than happy that we have a solution which will give it a run for its money. It is unlikely to be in AmigaOS4.0 but elements of it will start to appear from AmigaOS4.1 onwards.
3) DaveP: Can you tell us if the Auction sale at your old offices of Amiga equipment is on behalf of Amiga Inc? Also, related, does this imply that Amiga Inc is in severe financial difficulties?
Fleecy: No it is not on behalf of Amiga Inc. We have had a situation with our landlord for quite some time now. We have been trying to resolve it but the landlord, within his rights under the lease agreement has opted for this course of action. We haven't been in the office for quite some time and all of our work machines were moved out months ago. To counter the rumours being spread, even if there was valuable data and/or IP there, we have the right to remove/delete it before any auction can take place. All that can be sold are office furniture, fixtures and hardware. This amounts to some three year old wall dividers, desks, chairs, lamps, one or two old printers, some filing cabinets etc. People who think there will be reams of records, prototypes, CDs full of source code and other such goodies will be sorely disappointed. There is still some personal and private stuff in there as well and that has to be returned to the owners; for example I have a car full worth of CDs, clothes and kids toys.
I am not in contact with the landlord so I do not know why he decided to take this course of action. It has no effect on our operations however.
As for our financial situation, we are a private company and such information is not for public distribution. Amiga Anywhere products are in the shops, AmigaOnes are in the hands of Amigans and AmigaOS4 is getting closer and closer to release, with a Roadshow in Europe starting next month. As with anyone else, you'll have to draw your own conclusions. Given the current interest in some quarters to all matters legal, if we were bankrupt (as has been claimed by several people with a vested interest in our demise over the past 12 months) then that data would be available in the public domain as a bankruptcy filing. It isn't and we aren't. Things have been difficult, no one will deny that but we are starting to put that behind us now.
4) hnl_dk: How much control does Amiga Inc. have over the Amiga Anywhere Content Engine? Do you have total control - may you change the code, or may you 'only' add extra features?
Fleecy: AACE is our product so we have total control over it. Yes, as with any AmigaDE derivative, it uses the Tao-Group's Intent product as a foundation but if there are features missing then we add them. We are not tied to using all of Intent. We just use the bits we want and if we require a different solution for something that already exists within Intent then we would replace what it provides with our own solution.
5) IonMane: Is Amiga Inc. willing to return to the negotiation table with Genesi in an attempt to help them provide their own AmigaOne solution that is equitable for all parties, and to try to heal the divide that has caused so much strife within the Amiga community?
Fleecy: There is nothing to negotiate. Amiga Inc currently has two product lines, the AmigaOS and the AmigaDE. If a third party wishes to use or licence these then they should contact us and they will be given the same deal as anyone else. That third party will then have to meet the same criteria as every other third party in terms of sales, marketing and support in order to guarantee a quality Amiga certified product reaches the consumer.
AmigaOne is a brand name that is exclusively licenced to Eyetech Ltd so Genesi or any other third party cannot use it without either agreement from Eyetech or via building a system using the AmigaOne boards. If Genesi wishes to build systems using AmigaOne boards then they should email sales@eyetech.co.uk. I'm sure Eyetech would be delighted to add them to the AmigaOne IHV family.
From my limited understanding of the issue, and from an article on OSNews a few weeks ago, it appears that Genesi is trying to create its own platform and Mr Buck has stated that he has no interest in Amiga product, trademarks, or IP. If that is the case then your question makes no sense. The strife within the Amiga community has come about because of rumours being spread that there will be no new AmigaOS and the suggestions that people should move to another product. With AmigaOS4.0 nearing completion, AmigaOne computers on sale, and an AmigaOS4.0 roadshow, we are advancing the platform, which is what the community wants and demands. We are obviously distressed if people believed those rumours, purchased alternative product and now feel cheated but they should be contacting those who spread those rumours, asking them to explain themselves and investigating possible reparative actions. We announced AmigaOS4.0 a long time ago and whilst it has taken a lot longer than we expected or indeed wanted, we have never given any indication other than AmigaOS4.0 would be released.
6) IonMane: Follow up questions: BBRV has expressed that the licensing fee's are too high among other things. What compromises in this, or any other area would you be willing to make? What concessions would you expect in return for these compromises?
Fleecy: If Mr Buck wishes to make a business case for co-operation then he should do what any other professional business person would do; create a proposal and contact us to discuss it. If it makes financial and business sense then there is no reason why it should not proceed.
7) Treke: When the SDK 2.0 will be released. What hinders the release ?
Fleecy: We have been waiting for Intent 1.4 before releasing a new SDK. Obviously we can't release an SDK until the AmigaDE (and by implication the Intent foundation) is stable, which requires access to and testing of it. Once we get it, we have to move all of our code to it, test it, roll it out to the SDAs to get feedback and then we can build the SDK for public release.
8) Bob.C : Is there any updated news about applications that will be ready for A1/OS4? For example a word processor, paint or video application?
Fleecy: As I have said before, if the Amiga is to become the first use computer, it has to address 90% of the needs of the digital family. This includes a word processor amongst other things and we will taking internal action in regards to this. As for other applications, such as Paint and Video applications, we are in contact with both those who have such products already for the Amiga and those who have them on other platforms and who are considering a port. However I would draw your attention again to point 1 in this regard.
As for announcements, that is of course upto the third parties themselves and most are waiting until they have had a good play with AmigaOS4 on PPC since they want to get a good idea of what it will take to move over to the new platform. All I can really say is that we are of course working hard to get revised and new applications for the platform.
9) Gregs: My question: is whether there will be initial OS4 support for one or a number of Digital TV/Satellite etc., DVB (the US version is different) cards?
Fleecy: Not from Amiga itself, no. There is a lot to do and only so many resources with which to do it.
10) alx: Who will design the default theme(s) that OS4 comes with?
Fleecy: A well known and respected AmigaOS and AmigaDE developer. I am not giving his/her name out because they will then have to spend so many hours reading the emails of people who want to ask for this, that and the other that they will never get any work done.

Woof3D: New Crossplatform-3D-API
Woof3D is a shared library for Amiga, Windows95 and Linux x86.
It offers a very SIMPLE way to create 3D program in C.
So Woof 3D is a graphic engine mainly a 3D engine for texturing
3D polygons much more like 3D cards. It evolved a lot from its
starting in May 2000 and now offers high level and low level
functions for 3D and 2D graphics.
Why an other 3D engine ?
- Cause Woof3D is very SIMPLE to program. You don't need to know
anything about the supported OS
- Cause Woof3D offer true cross platforming with Linux X86,
Windows95, AmigaOS 68K versions (one C source for all).
- Cause Woof3D offer high level functions like direct Vscape
or Caligari files handling.
- Cause Woof3D also offer basic 2D and 3D primitives that allow
to program lots of simple graphics softwares like OS-friendly games.
- Cause beginners in C language don't have to know about pointers
or dereferencing to use Woof3D
Supported platforms
- PC x86 with Windows95 and DirectDraw (2D hardware acceleration)
- Amiga 68k with AmigaOS 3.0-3.9 and Cybergraphics/Picasso96
(2D hardware acceleration ) or any computer emulating an
Amiga the same way (with WinUAE, DosUAE, etc.)
- Amiga 68k with AmigaOS 3.0-3.9 and a Warp3D 3D card (3D hardware
acceleration )
- PC x86 with Linux and Xwindow (2D hardware acceleration)

2Decide: A 2D strategy game using themes
In case you are missing all the great recent uploads to Aminet;
Joar Berntsen would like to inform you of the freeware
game "2Decide" that has the ability to dress itself up with
various theme packages.
All units, all structures, and most gfx can be changed. In
addition, new campaigns can easily be created, with the
inline map editor, on any of the current 5 themes that
are available.
It is a game somewhat similar to Empire-'Wargame of the
century' but uses 256 colors and AGA effects, and all
ingame units are affected by cheerfull morale features.
Have a look at the readme file from the Aminet for slightly more info.
Don't be afraid to fool around with the theme features of
this game. It won't crash or anything from doing that.
I am not some distant being on another planet,
so please mail me if there is anything!

PowerPC 970 shipped already?
The rumors page LoopRumors claims to know that IBM shipped

It is said that they were delivered directly to Foxconn in Taiwan, the manufacturer of the
Apple mainboards. The 1.8 GHz prozessors were on their way also.
Even these rumors can't be confirmed, the introduction of the first PowerPC Macs is expected for summer.

Pegasos: Independent Review by OSNews.com
Eugenia Loli Queru of OSNews.com made an independent Pegasos-Review. As a not Amiga user her judgement precipitates naturally very
critically over the MorphOS which is still in an early development stage. However when talking about the possibility to
use the hardware with various Linux distributions and MacOS her judgement is more positively. Among other things
she guesses to Genesi, to mark out the Pegasos as the Linux platform, because nevertheless x86 boards belong in last consequence to
Microsoft.
In its associated comment Raquel Velasco and Bill Buck of Genesi suggest that one can
regard the "M" standing in MorphOS calmly also as for "mobility", this
is the next step.

please refer to CHANGELOG, included in archives. Remember to get codecs
archive as well, most of them were updated, not to mention new ones.

Event: OS4 on Tour 2003 - 14th June 2003 in Augsburg
The Amiga Club Augsburg (ACA) and KDH Datentechnik are proud to invite you on June 14th, 2003 into the computer club, the Augsburger Computer Forum. We will present some novelties for your Classic Amiga and we will be able to give you a preview of Amiga OS4.0.
Amiga OS4.0
The presentation of the AmigaOne and a preview of Amiga OS4.0 will be given by Juergen Schober / Point Design from Austria (come, see and be surprised !! ).
Amiga One
The Amiga Club Augsburg will present the newest member of our Amiga family, the Amiga One. The Amiga One Systems are currently delivered with Debian Linux PPC installed. The presentaton machines have a G4 PPC processor with 800MHz. (We might have a surprise for you ;)
Algor (world premiere)
E3B will present its brandnew Zorro USB Controller Algor, as well as an update possibility to Highway by the name of Romulus. You will be able to talk face to face with Michael Boehmer, he is the hardware developer of the USB boards Algor, Highway, Subway and of the ethernet board Norway. If you need some advise, this is the right place and guy to ask ;). The scope of delivery of all USB boards from E3B contains a full version of Poseidon. Poseidon is developed by Chris Hodges in teamwork with E3B. The newest version of Poseidon will be presented together with Algor and Michael will be pleased to answer all your questions. If you want to test your USB devices together with an E3B USB controller, you are welcome to do so. At the show we will give you the possibility to purchase the E3B USB boards.
C-One (world premiere)
The C-One is a multiple faster than the C64 and has standard interfaces (PS/2-Mouseport, PS/2-Keyboard, Parallel-Port) to communicate with the outside world. PCI slots allow the use of todays PCI-cards, but also the periphery of the C64 is supported, as well as the clockport expansions modules of the Amiga 1200 will work in the C-One.
But the C-One is more: It is reconfigurable and thereby the first of its kind. The used techniques allows changing the hardware by means of simply exchanging a file. Jens Schönfeld will give an explicit, free of charge seminar on the C-One and will explain all the C-One functions. Jens will also answer all questions related to the other products from individual Computers. The products of individual Computers can be bought at the show.
Further information and details can be found under the title link.

MMKeyboard sale of hardware discontinued
Due to rapidly decreasing hardware orders production of the MMKeyboard adapter is being discontinued. Support for MMKeyboard will of course continue. I just stop production of the hardware because it just isn't feasible to do in such small numbers. As the sale had always been done at cost I'd have to increase the price of the adapter quite drastically in order to get out of it without loss. Furthermore I just don't see myself in a position to produce the hardware within a desirable timeframe.
Everyone still has the choice to build the hardware themselves, which used to be done by quite a number of users. Maybe by way of this announcement someone can be found to produce adapters for technically less versed Amiga users. Instructions for this can be found under the title link.

Weekly Q&A's with Fleecy Moss - episode 10
The English online magazine AmigaWorld has published episode 10 of the regular questions and answers session with Fleecy Moss, CTO at AMIGA, Inc. (Update 2012-03-17, cg: as the original document is no longer available, the following content was moved into our database):
1) trgse: Something the Amiga has lacked since its early days is POSIX compliance or a good full POSIX emulation layer. (ixemul not being very amiga like and lacking fork, how does Amiga see this.... Will it be resolved under OS 4.x, if so how? does/will OS 5.x/DE have any POSIX compliance
Fleecy: There is already a project under way within the AmigaOS4 development team to increase POSIX compliance within the platform. Elements of this. most notably a threading solution will hopefully be in place for AmigaOS4.0.
2) ikir: What do you think of the Coldfire Accelerator Project? Could we have a Coldfire version of OS4.x in the future? With a 200+ MHz coldfire, many people would probably want OS4 for these machines. What is your stance on this?
Fleecy: AmigaOS4 for the desktop is a PPC product and that is what we will be supporting.
3) alx: What is the reasoning behind A inc not releasing the old 1.x ROM images? They would be useful for many people, would provide an indication of goodwill and wouldn't run any recent s/w like the "current" 3.x series.
Fleecy: We are investigating this and are looking at both providing a distinct product with these pieces on it as well as having them all on the AmigaOS4.0 CD.
4) Tigger: Where you unaware of what Bill McEwen was going to say in the Bolten Peck case about not being the CEO, or were you intentionally misleading the Amiga Community with your post that Bill McEwen was still the CEO??
Fleecy: Bill McEwen is still CEO. He was CEO before I posted that statement, he was the CEO when I posted that statement and is the CEO today as I type this answer to you. I have no comments to make about any on going lawsuits.
5) Hondo_DK: Does Amiga have any upcoming plans for their website. I mean if Amiga is to launch OS4 to an unexpecting amazed world, then you're website would probably be facing a run over by zillions of surfers from everywhere in the computer business. When seeing the present Amiga site, many would perhaps turn away because of the lack of a design roadmap. Do you have any plan to prepare yourself before the launch of OS4.
Fleecy: We are very aware that the Amiga web presence needs updating. This is being done one site at a time with the new Amiga Power Platform website under construction as we speak and due to be opened to the public before AmigaOS4.0 goes on sale.
6) KingTutt: If a clear and steady level of growth is reached, and a sizable userbase pushes sales akin to the first year of these next-gen consoles. Would Amiga Inc consider bringing into the fold some past Amiga game developers in an effort to resurrect some past game legends ala the great Turrican series? And if so, how do you see Amiga Inc playing an instrumental role in bringing back past hits.
Fleecy: We do intend to do this but usually you only get one shot at trying to convince people to come back to a platform and so we don't want to do this until the platform supports a market large enough to provide a substantial financial element to the overall decision. If the userbase does get to that size, we'd be very happy. As an aside I should mention that we have had such developers spontaneously contacting us to enquire about coming back to the platform and discussions are ongoing.
7) KingTutt: Do you believe its important for Amiga as a possible future gaming platform, to stand by its own creations & merits, distinguishable from the rest or should it rely on ported titles from other systems?
Fleecy: Porting of product has a definite place, especially for a small market where the cost of developing a new product from scratch is substantial. However we would very much like to see unique content on the Amiga and will be working towards that end. It has to be said that if someone wrote an amazing game on the Amiga, the developer would most likely want to look at porting it to other platforms anyway so perhaps the best we can hope for in the short term is ports, the medium term is content on our platform first and then ported followed by unique content only on our platform as the market size increases.
In the end the only way to guarantee unique content is to have features and capabilities on the platform that do not exist and more, cannot be replicated on another platform but with hardware commoditisation, that is increasingly difficult.
8) Deniil715: I was wondering if the TCP/IP-stack of OS4 will support IPv6?? And if it will not, will it atleast support DHCP IP-timeout and refresh so that it can be used on a network with a DHCP-server which put a timeout on the IP-address and hence withdraw it after the timeout if the TCP/IP-stack doesn't refresh it.
Fleecy: DHCP is in (the whole package, not just the fringe features), IPv6 is not. Given our current resources and feature lists for AmigaOS4, IPv6 is down near the bottom of the list but as the project advances, features above it will be crossed off and we will of course continually review the situation.
9) ssolie: Have you given any thought to utilizing open source development, either as a source baseline or as a development model, to speed delivery of various AmigaOS services?
Fleecy: We have considered it and may dabble in it on the fringes but as a commercial company we have a need to develop IP and to provide a return on it to our investors. If we were developing another UNIX wannabe, same old same old product then it would have more appeal but we are into developing something unique and in making money out of it.
10) catohagen: If i dont remember wrong, there was something called PREXX, what is it and is it still planned ?
Fleecy: I have asked a few people, most of whom returned a blank expression. One person believes it may have been something that Haage and Partner were talking about but there is certainly nothing of that name in AmigaOS4.0

Matthias Henze writes:
I'm giving away the following Amiga hardware resp. accessories:
- Oktagon 2008 SCSI 2 controller
- Emplant Macintosh Emulator
- Original Amiga mice (of A500+ and A4000)
- Original A4000 desktop case (Commodore)
- Original A4000 PSU for Commodore desktop case
- Original A4000 Shuttle Board for Commodore desktop case
- A PC desktop case rebuilt for the A500+ with Kickstart switch
(incl. ROM 1.3 and ROM 2.04 and mechanical adaption for turbo boards - used to accomodate a Stormbringer H530), small internal amplifier, internal floppy disk drive, complete internal and pluggable cabling, space for external hard disks or Action Replay etc.
- External keyboard for A500+
- Power PC Board (PC emulator by KCS) for A500+
Back when I dismantled the parts (a couple of years ago), everything was working perfectly. However, I can't guarantee that this is still the case. If you're interested you can contact me and collect the parts personally at my place or get them by mail. If you want to have them sent by mail you have to pay the postage up front however. Sorry, but I have made bad experiences already too often.

New and updated software by OnyxSoft
The Swedish shareware developers group OnyxSoft has released two new tools and updated some tools.
FileComp (v1.0) is a small utility that allows a fast comparison of two files regarding their size, their content, their date and other criteria.
Snakee (v0.1) is the first attempt of OnyxSoft to lead two worlds to each other instead of divide them even further into good and evil. Snakee is a simple Snake clone that is thought to serve as a simple tutorial how you can support AmigaOS as well as MorphOS. The executable files for both systems are included as well as the source code.
BackUp is a simple tool to backup data. New in the version 1.4 are automatic backups, timing handling, simulated backups for test modi, new message handling and many more functions.
DRemind is a useful tool to remind one of dates and other information. The new version 1.65 comes among other things with improvements of the reminder function and the date display.
GummiSurf is an expansion for the download manager Charon. In version 1.1 has the tooltype support for own preferences been added and the URL handling has been optimized.

Memory card reader for IDE / Standalone media player
At Hama I discovered today a memory card reader/writer for the IDE port. This one needs no additional software to run. It's just treated as a hard disk and it's much cheaper than the reader PCD47 for SCSI-II. The device costs 69,99 Euro.
Furthermore I discovered a standalone media player at Hama that can read without a computer digital photos in the JPG format, Mpeg1 movies and Mp3 sound via the A/V output. For this it can read six different memory card types (CF I + II, SM, SD, MMC). With a remote control you can then display movies or display pictures of your holidays. Besides that you can play your Mp3 data.

Software News (17.05.2003)
Network: Samba version 3.0alpha24
The Samba team has released version 3.0alpha24 on May, 14th 2003. The full list of changes can be read here.

LowLevel gameport driver v41.21 is online
Guido Mersmann has created a new version of his lowlevel.library gameport driver that contains the following changes and fixes:
- FEATURE: New graphical gamepad buttons in the GUI.
- BUGFIX: reworked timeout mechanism (works more stable at high CPU load).
- FEATURE: several gamepad controller profiles in the settings added leading to a much easier choosing and setting.
- FEATURE: From now on you can calibrate a gamepad in the settings. If you then fix the settings you can save them now so that you do not need to calibrate them later again.
- BUGFIX: Warning requester added when especially under Amithlon a gameport address is used that is non-standard. This should help to avoid crashes if one sets completely wrong addresses.
- FEATURE: The tool GamePortEnable now only shows the offset as the exact address for IO hardware can't be detected because of an API problem of the OpenPCI library. Please use with non-Amithlon systems the tool GamePortFind, on Amithlon systems you only ghave to add the address $00EE0xxx to the found offset (xxx stands for the returned offset value!).
- BUGFIX: Bug in the calibrating routine fixed. The function with 1-axis gamepads has additionally been improved.

Amiga.sf ports - hotwayd v0.5.3
Ever wanted to access your hotmail[tm] emails
without having to battle with the web interface? This is now possible using hotwayd
in conjunction with your favourite POP-3 implementing mail reader. Hotwayd allows
you to do this by using the HTTPMail protocol, the same protocol that Outlook
Express[tm] uses, to access the hotmail servers. Hotwayd acts as a proxy between your
POP mail reader and the HTTPMail hotmail servers. Simply set it up as an Internet
service on your machine or another machine on your network and enjoy using your
favourite mail client via the POP-3 protocol to collect your hotmail emails.
Download: hotwayd-0.5.3.lha
Textviewer: EvenMore - several plugin updates
- 17/5/03 - Updated Troff plugin. Will now skip macro sequences.
Fixed bug where if some commands were in different cases, the
plugin might not have recognised them, .br and .BR, .IP and .Ip.
Now skips comments beginning with '''. Should now detect style
changes in strings using \, eg. \fI, \fR, \*(L", \*(R", etc.
- 16/5/03 - Fixed a bug in the RTF plugin where it could skip two
lines instead of one during wordwrap.
- 15/5/03 - Fixed bug in which RTF plugin could not handle colour
tables which didn't end in ";".
LouiSe's MorphOS-Ports
20030515 - New MorphOS ports uploaded:
apache-1.3.24 with php-4.3.1 (WEB server with PHP support)
php-4.3.1 (standalone PHP-CLI)
ncftp-3.1.5 (ftp client)
New MUI classes
- 16.05.03 · Bugfixed MCC_SpeedBar
MCC_SpeedBar updated, and now SpeedBarCfg.mcc is fixed. Only program I know
that it failed on is Voodoo-X, but there might have been others. Fixed, anyway :)
Thanks must go to Kev Harrison for mailing Alfie about it so quickly. He also
mailed me, but the fix was out before the info made it to the page. BTW,
CManager 24.1 on his site also...
Regards,
Jocke 'Zerohero' Sjöblom
- 15.05.03 · Even more MCC_SpeedBar & MCC_Urltext
MCC_SpeedBar bumped to v19.0, now, before you start to mail me that this
archive is broken, I know it is, but it's only some code examples, the
real classes are still ok. MCC_Urltext v18.9 archive is ok, though :)
On Alfie's site also MCC_BWin is supposed to be v20.5, but the archive
only includes v20.3. If you download Contact Manager 24.0 you'll get
MCC_BWin v20.5 included, and also get a great update of CManager :)
Oh, and Alfie, keep keeping me busy :)

Amiga Arena: Interview with Elena Novaretti (ZoneXplorer)
A few weeks ago released the 30 years old Italian Elena Novaretti
for the first time the tool "ZoneXplorer" for AmigaOS (68k) and MorphOS (PPC).
"ZoneXplorer" is a useful tool to create and search fractals that certainly is unique on the Amiga.
The possibilities to create unique fractal pictures in 24 bit speak for themselves. One or the other may know the images by Elena Novaretti as they were shown at the Amiga fair "Pianeta 2002". In the interview with the Amiga Arena Elena Novaretti talks about her career and of course about her program "ZoneXplorer" and about her view regarding the future of AmigaOS and MorphOS respectively where the differences lay.
Enjoy the comprehensive and interesting interview that is available in German and English.

AtheneOS by Rocklyte: AthenYX
The alternative operating system Athene by Rocklyte Systems has been released as standalone OS. It's called AthenYX and it is related to AmigaOS among other things as it comes, if desired, with a graphical user interface (GUI) that bases on Amiga Workbench 3.0: the OmegaWorkbench.
Athene is an operating system that allows the user to create an own GUI where it is possible to emulate almost every existing GUI system. Athene supports draggable screens, assigns and there's an approach for a file manager in the way of Diskmaster/DOpus.
Athene itself is easy to port (embedded systems, games consoles, PCs), object oriented and comes among other things with several scripting languages.

Amiga Forever v5.2 is now shipping
Amiga Forever 5.2 is now shipping. It is available in a CD-ROM,
CD-ROM Upgrade, Online Edition, Online Upgrade and Cross-Platform
Online Edition.
Amiga Forever contains state of the art software to satisfy two
major needs of many Amiga users: to use their existing Amiga
software and data on non-Amiga hardware, and to share data between
Amiga and other systems. Additionally, software, tutorial and
reference files which are likely to be of interest to any
Amiga enthusiast are included.
Features include:
- Just-in-time version of emulation software (Bernd Meyer's JIT code), carefully configured and publicly benchmarked by Cloanto to be 30 times faster than in previous versions of Amiga Forever. The Amiga runs in a window or in full screen mode, makes full use of thousands of Windows (or other OS) drivers, can access PC files (even on NTFS partitions, in the Windows version) and does not require a reboot.
- Software Manager, an advanced content delivery system developed by Cloanto, for easy and privacy-conscious management of all emulation-related components (updates, downloads, news, etc.)
- Amiga Explorer software, which allows you to connect an Amiga to one or more PCs, and access Amiga files (including virtual ADF and ROM files), directories and volumes directly from the Windows Desktop. Amiga Explorer is easier to install and configure than other networking tools, and includes direct support for serial (null-modem) cable connections, as well as TCP/IP.
- MenuBox launcher, to boot different Amiga configurations with one mouse click, either from CD-ROM (no installation or reboot required) or after installation
- New and fully licensed Picasso96 software (not a shareware version), maps Amiga graphics requests directly to fast x86 calls and powerful low-level DirectX functions (Windows version of emulation)
- Amiga Narrator and Translator speech synthesis components (made available for distribution with the Amiga OS for the first time since 1991)
- All Amiga ROMs up to version 3.1 (the last ROM that will ever be available for the "Classic Amiga"!)*
- CDTV and CD³² boot ROMs and extended ROMs (can be used to play CDTV and CD³² games, even booting directly from CD-ROM, requires free upgrade to emulation software)*
- GlowIcons look (as used in Amiga OS "3.5", "3.9" and "XL", but also compatible with NewIcons and MagicWB)
- Option to switch entire environment from "new look" (GlowIcons) to "old look" (Classic) and vice versa
- Emulation includes: Amiga custom chips, RTG graphics, up to 512 MB of Zorro III RAM, virtual memory, TCP/IP, MIDI, native x86 code, built-in support for ADF, ADZ, DMS and FDI disk image files
- Preinstalled software includes: Personal Paint 7.1b (paint, animation and image processing software, includes GIF/LZW license), DirDiff (file synchronization and replication software), AmiToRTF (to convert texts from Amiga to Windows formats), MailBX (to convert Amiga mail archives to Microsoft Mail, Outlook Express and Exchange Server), drag-and-drop LhA, print spooler (easily print all Amiga documents under Windows, bypassing parallel port emulation), Directory Opus 5.5 (courtesy of GPSoftware), TurboText (exclusive latest version with stack problem fix), KingCON, ToolManager, ReqTools, etc.
- Latest version of WinUAE and WinFellow tested and supported by Cloanto
Disk2FDI software to read Amiga floppy disks on PC (experimental version, requires two floppy drives)
- Tutorials and FAQs on data sharing, emulation, floppy disks, serial links, TCP/IP, UAE, Fellow and much more.
- All software tested on Windows XP
- MPEG-1 videos: The Deathbed Vigil (one hour and 58 minutes, i.e. the full version of this "must have" video) and Jay Miner Speech (49 minutes)*
- Dozens of other enhancements and add-ons
* = CD-ROM version only (both standard and upgrade). The Online Edition includes 1.3 and 3.1 ROMs (sufficient both for classic games and for the most recent software). CDTV and CD³² ROMs are also included in the downloadable Amiga Forever Plus Pack. The MPEG videos are only included on the CD-ROM (both standard and upgrade). The CD-ROM contains version 5.0, with free online upgrade to version 5.2 using Software Manager (included).
The Amiga emulation software on the Amiga Forever CD-ROM comes preinstalled and preconfigured for Windows. The Amiga ROM and OS files can be used by any implementation of the Amiga emulators, including for example Unix/Linux (UAE comes with source code), Be, PowerMac, etc. These emulators are constantly updated, and can be downloaded from the sites listed in the Home Pages section of the navigation bar.
Pricing:
CD-ROM: 59.95 Euro
CD Upgrade: 34.95 Euro (nba)

Inventory of Amiga, Inc. for public sale - AI denies
On the webiste of the auctioneer James G. Murphy Co.
there are besides Amiga logo further information about the public sale of inventory
from old offices of Amiga, Inc. in Snoqualmie.
According to rumours these things have been attached by the former letter of Amiga, Inc.
because of not payed rentals and should be now sold by auction.
Some times ago Amiga, Inc. announced the move but has not given any new address since
this time.
Today Gary Peake who works at Amiga, Inc. denied the romours about the liquidation
of Amiga, Inc. and told that the things which are supposed to be sold by auction
are "old stuff from the offices" which "are no longer needed".
Nevertheless for collectors of Amiga stuff the day of auction which is the 17th June 2003 might be
an interesting date where you can buy equipment for the Amiga for few money.
