Action-RPG: Heroes of Gorluth starts being delivered
Last year the spin-off of Tales of Gorluth called Heroes of Gorluth was announced and now is delivered. Customers who ordered the game in davance already received their CDs. The game which was created with Backbone can be ordered for 19,99 Euro.

MorphOS: E-Mail client Iris, beta version 44
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczeks "Iris" is supposed to become the standard mail program for MorphOS. It supports IMAP and can read and create HTML mails. The program requires MorphOS 3.10. You can give feedback to the author using the corresponding discussion on Morphzone.
Among others beta version 44 detects URLs in non-HTML emails and allows Signatures in account settings.

AmigaOS 4: X11 environment AmiCygnix 1.4
Edgar Schwan's AmiCygnix is an Unix environment for AmigaOS 4. It is not an emulation but all programms are nativly compiled for AmigaOS 4. AmiCygnix provides a directory and data structure which is similar to a Unix installation.
After a long break of development now new versions of the basic archives have been released. Mainly bugs were fixed which did prevent X-Servers from correctly working on new Amiga systems.
New in AmiCygnix-Base:
- All display drivers and the X server binary were revised to fix the following problems:
- With newer graphics cards like the Radeon HD 7xxx the colours of the
display were wrong. This was completely fixed in the drivers picasso96clonewbdb and picasso96wb.
- Since AmigaOS 4.1 final Update 1 it came to program crashes, if the graphic driver picasso96clonewbdb was used. Is fixed now.
- The display driver picasso96clonewbdb can now also open 32 bit screens internally, however, the data is still processed in 16 bits.
- The print command "lpr" now supports the printout via Turboprint whereby the print quality is increased.
- Updated SSL support over OpenSSL and GnuTLS. The included Trusted Certificates have been updated.
- Many minor improvements and bug fixes.
New in AmiCygnix tools:
- The browser NetSurf has been relinked with OpenSSl 1.01o. Many SSL keyed pages could not be opened anymore. The problem is now largely eliminated.
- The image viewer GPicView is now available in the latest version 0.2.5.

File system: smbfs 2.1 released after two years of development
In last two years smbfs was comprehensively revised and rewritten for the SMBv1/CIFS protocol based on the historical and official documents.
The new smbfs 2.1 improves the robustness and compatibilty of the file system which e.g. can access NAS systems and corresponding computers. The support of Unicode, big files (> 4 GB) and resuming of interrupted connections to the data server were added. A lot of bug fixes were done as well.

Demo scene: Haujobb provides self-developed demo framework
For the development of their demos, the demo group Haujobb uses a self-developed framework including a cross-platform, vbcc-based development environment. The framework is called "WickedOS" and offers programmers of assembler e.g. access to 20 different chunky-To-planer screen modes, several music playback routines and interrupt entry points. Additional to a traditional "Multi Tasking Killer" mode, there is also multitasking environment including hardware abstraction layer.
As target architecture for the framework upgraded Amigas are specified, AGA, a 68020 and a FPU are minimum required. The framework itself will be released little by little on Github as well as the corresponding documents completed.
Already in August both Haujobb programmers 'Hellfire' and 'Noname' did introduce their ihre method of cross-platform demo development in a speech.

Individual Computers: Advance orders for ACA500plus and Indivision ECS V2
Press release: For the second production run of the ACA500plus, we've done a few small upgrades to adapt the card to the needs of our customers that were communicated in support cases and other customer feedback. Some customers were not satisfied with the speed of the card, which is why we have changed to the new CPU type 68SEC000. For this processor we can't just guarantee 14.1MHz, but stable operation up to 21MHz. It is of course still possible to set the CPU frequency to up to 42MHz, but since this is very demanding for the power supply regulation and cooling, this is not covered by standard customer support.
We've also updated the DisMo: The 2-digit display is now bigger, and the status LED is not two- but three-colour. The button has been moved to a more ergonomic position. Despite these upgrades, the increase in price for the ACA500plus is very moderate.
When Indivision ECS was released in 2009, scan line emulation was still special. Over the years, other products and emulators have copied our idea. We've now refined this feature: The scan line emulation in Indivision ECS V2 can be carefully adjusted, so the effect can be set according to individual taste.
We often got questions about how to adjust the picture to be full-screen. Often times, this was not possible without adding black bars around the picture, because the resolution of the Amiga-output had an unfavourable size relation to the resolution of the screen. With the new upscaler in Indivision ECS V2, it is now much simpler to adjust the picture size and keep the correct aspect ratio. The scaler of Indivision ECS V2 is geared towards keeping the "pixel-art" appearance of the picture, and can be adjusted in very small steps to introduce only the lowest-possible blur that's always introduced by a scaler.
We have entered a delivery date of december 22nd for both products. However, we will already start shipping next week, but cannot guarantee when a shipment will leave here due to the high demand for both products. Parcels will be shipped in the order of incoming money transfers.

Jump'n Run port: Cave Story for AmigaOS 3
Cave Story is a Metroid/Castlevania clone which was ported to several systems. The version for AmigaOS 3 (video) has high hardware requirements. The performance speed can be increased by reducing the Workbench resolution.

Memory extension: Advance orders for A1208 possible
From January the Polish dealer RetroAmi will offer an A1200 memory extension called A1208 which can be preordered. The card does not offer realtime but can switch between 8MB and 4MB mode with a jumper. The 4MB mode is meant for using PCMCIA devices.

Hyperion resumes selling digital version of AmigaOS 3.1.4
On 19. October the sale of Hyperion's AmigaOS 3.1.4 was interrupted for a short time: Amiga Inc. had sent Hyperion's service provider for digital sales a cease and desist letter. The Belgian company evades the problem by changing the service provider but 10 days later also this service was stopped. First it was communicated as stop initiated by Hyperion itself because the physical sets with ROMs and disks now were available in shops.
Using a facebook poll last weekend Hyperion wanted to know if there is still interest in the digital edition. Today it was announced that the company were happy to fulfill the customer wish and to offer AmigaOS 3.1.4 again as payable download.
Obviously it was not necessary to change the service provider again: the "Buy Now!" links refer to shareit.com aka MyCommerce.

Web browser: NetSurf 3.8 updated again (SDL version) (Update)
A few days ago Artur Jarosik has released a new update of his Amiga port of the web browser NetSurf. His port uses SDL, only the preferences pane is based on MUI, and is not to be confused with the Chris Young's native, Reaction-based version.
Our editor Daniel Reimann has tested the update on his Amiga 1200 equipped with Blizzard-1230 accelerator board and Amiga OS 3.9. Additional to bug fixes (details under the title link) now Netsurf again can access https websites. The required "ca-bundle" file in the "resources" folder was missing in the archives before.
Starting Netsurf on the Amiga1200 proved to be rather difficult. Often Netsurf loaded and stopped doing it with a black screen. It also could happen that the first blank screen was loaded and then the icons of the menu appeared very slowly: Loading an icon took several seconds. But if Netsurf properly started then the browser runs stable. Compared with the native version, this SDL port provided by Artur Jarosik presents the website in a more comfortable way: The characters are clear and the sites are viewed in a compact design (screenshots: amiga-news.de, netsurf-browser.org).
Surprisingly Netsurf takes "only" 37 seconds to load amiga-news.de which is a https connection (pictures enabled, pictures disables it takes about 32 seconds) but loading aminet.net it takes 60 seconds (53 seconds without pictures). Working with the SDL version of Netsurf is quite confortable because the websites are scaled in this way that you do not have to scroll across. I guess that this operation is more complex at the amiga-news.de website.
In order to exclude the reasons of instability during the start process are due to the special configuration environment of the Amiga1200, our editor would be grateful for feedback in the comment section, e.g. by users working with emulators.

The PS/2 mouse adapter Micromys developed by Individual Computers can connect PS/2 mice to computers like Amiga, Atari ST and Commodore 64. Now the adapter also supports Commodore's VC-20 or the Atari 8-bit series. Additional to classic mice also trackballs, paddles or the Koala Pad are emulated.

Further warnings concerning AmigaOS 3.1.4
According to the author of the Amiga Documents report on Twitter he has "reliable source indicates that Avangate, Digital River, Amiga on the Lake and Alinea Computers received cease and desist notices jointly from three companies: Amiga, Amino (Amiga Washington) and Itec." The mentioned traders have been the only ones which after the disputes about the distribution of the digital edition offered the "hardware" version with disks and ROMs in their shops.
That corresponds to the statement of our own source which we asked for confirmation. It is not surprising that the Amiga parties obviously try to prevent any distribution of AmigaOS 3.1.4 which in their opinion is an infringement. Single customers of the German trader Alinea already have received the ROMs and disks. It is not known if now the distribution was stopped - some purchasers (again) report on email notifications saying that the product only will be available in a few days again.

GuruNet: LAN connection via parallel interface (2nd update)
The GuruNet adapter provides network connectivity to Amiga 600, 2000 and 3000 computers. It is compatible with the PlipBox. As a future product, a WiFi version for the serial interface with an additional SD card interface is announced.

Lawsuit: Itec responds to Hyperion
In the lawsuit with Cloanto, in March Hyperion did not just sue Cloanto but also all other "Amiga parties", that means all companies which since the year 2000 own or owned rights on Amiga and which all are contract partners of Hyperion: Amino (formerly Amiga Inc., Washington), Itec LLC and Amiga Inc. (formerly KMOS, Delaware).
This caused the resurrection of Amiga Inc., followed now by an identical response of Itec LLC - which can be found at the title link, again thanks to the author of the "Amiga Documents".
Like Amiga Inc., Itec alleges that Hyperion did break the settlement agreement by e.g. using the trademark AmigaOS for merchandising products or selling AmigaOS 3.1 and 3.1.4 as well as Kickstart 1.2 and 1.3 without having any proper rights.
It is also said that the former manager of Hyperion and today's shareholder, Benjamin Hermans, did flaunt to have cheated the Amiga parties by using tricky wording for the settlement agreement which later allowed him to assert rights on a wider scale. In the opinion of the Amiga parties only those rights on AmigaOS 3.1 had been granted to Hyperion which are necessary to develop, sell and promote AmigaOS 4.0.
Against this background Itec LLC, like Amiga Inc. before, have requested the court to dismiss the case of Hyperion and/or declare the settlement agreement invalid. (snx)

Diagnostic tool: DiagROM 1.1
DiagROM is a diagnostic tool which the user has to burn in an EPROM and the replaces the Kickstart-ROM of an Amiga. Third parties also sell ROMs. The software does not require any timer, IRQs etc. and therefore should be able to run on only partly working computers and do some hardware tests. The results are given to the serial interface or to the screen as different colour codes.
Version 1.1 introduces a "new memory-detection routine that hopefully finds more memory" as well as a "A600/1200/4000 IDE detection". Additionally there are some powerup extras.

Beat'em Up remake: Barbarian Plus
"Barbarian Plus" is a remake of the classic Barbarian written with AMOS. Additional to reworked graphics and sound, "more scenes, boss fights and more warrior types are introduced. The game also features one and two player mode, a demo mode, a tutorial mode and cut scenes."
Barbarian Plus is delivered on six disks, the last one providing an installation script. The game at least requires a 68020 processor and 1 MB ChipRAM. If you want to play from harddrive, 2 MB ChipRAM are recommended.

Modplayer: AmiModRadio 0.9992
AmiModRadio is "a program to automatically download, extract, and play modules from Aminet." A rating function is included as well. The new version now also can access the modules offered under mod.haxor.fi and it is compatible with AmiAutoUpdater written by the same author. He explained: You can "save your modules (again) without crashing. The logging is better and should allow for more useful messages." CS-LAB: Accelerator board Warp 1260 in development
According to Matthias Münch (Amigaworld.de) in a tweet under the title link, the Polish company CS-LAB s.c. of Janusz Wawak, Andrzej Rogozynski and Szymon Paprocki is working on a 68060 accelerator board for the Amiga 1200. Using Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow's ExtronControl you can control the video scaler/input switch Extron DSC 301 HD with an Amiga. The author uses the device for connecting different classic computers to a TFT. In the archive the source code is included. Therefore it is possible to port the software to other Amiga systems.

EGO-Shooter for non upgraded AGA-Amigas: Amishion Impossible
Amishion Impossible (video) was developed during a programming competetion: At the "itch.io 2018 Seven Day First Person Shooter Jam" you had to develop an ego shooter within seven days. The game runs on a non upgraged AGA computer but requires that much chip RAM that probably you have to boot without startup-sequence before starting the game.

Print magazine: Amiga Future, issue 135

Individual Computers: ACA500 extension X-Surf 500 available
The X-Surf 500 produced by Individual Computers is a 100-MBit network card which can be used as extension for the accelerator boards ACA500 or ACA500plus. The main focus is the easy configurability of the hardware. A TCP/IP stack and a DHCP client is included.

AmigaOS 3.1.4: Download version unavailable again, physical edition announced
Eleven days ago, the downloads of Hyperion's AmigaOS 3.1.4 were taken down: Amino had sent a Cease And Desist to Hyperion's eCommerce partner handling digital sales - the Amiga parties claim that Hyperion's 3.1.4 sales are violating their copyrights and trademarks. In response, the Belgian company switched to a different distributor and the next day their product was available for purchase again.
Yesterday the "Buy Now!" links on Hyperion's website stopped working again. Hyperion reacted by removing the links from their site today and announcing on Facebook that digital sales were closed and that physical copies of 3.1.4 were now shipped to dealers.
But from the "possible sources" listed on Hyperion's website, only Alinea seems to offer the update. Vesalia customers are reporting that their dealer won't sell the update for now, due to the unresolved legal issues.
The picture in Alinea's webshop raises another question: The label on the disks clearly states "Copyright 2018 Hyperion Entertainment CVBA. All Rights Reserved". That's the copyright notice the original release of AmigaOS 3.1.4 showed on its Kickstart screen and inside Workbench's "About" dialog.
In the digital release, this was changed to "Copyright 2018 Hyperion Entertainment CVBA. Developed under License" once 3.1.4 reappeared after the takedown ten days ago. Developer Olaf Barthel had taken the blame for this in a posting on Amigaworld, explaining the copyright notice had slipped in by accident and he forgot to rebuild the Kickstart before the release to fix it. Vampire V4 (standalone) boots AmigaOS 3.1
For the first time a video shows how the standalone version of the Vampire is booting AmigaOS 3.1. First it is booted without any volume and you can see that a modified Kickstart-ROM is used: "68080 Apollo Team, Test Exec Build, Not for public Use!". The second time a CF-card was connected to the computer which starts the Workbench without any problems - even a bit slowly according to the tester.

WHDLoad: New installers until 27.10.2018
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until October 27th, 2018:

WHDLoad frontend: Source codes for iGame released under GPL
iGame is a MUI-based frontend for launching WHDLoad games. Since some time the source codes of the program which still is being developed further have been available under a free licence on Github.

Legal battle: Amiga Inc. resurrected from the dead
While responding in the legal battle against Cloanto, Hyperion didn't just take Cloanto to court
but all of the so-called "Amiga parties" as well - i.e. all companies that are or used to be owners of the Amiga IP since 2000 and that
are parties of the 2009 settlement agreement with Hyperion:
Amino (formerly "Amiga Inc.", Washington), Itec LLC and Amiga Inc. (formerly "KMOS", Delaware).
Both Amino and Amiga Delaware
had been listed as inactive or "void" in their state's corporate registries.
Amiga Delaware had been neglecting all of their trademark registrations for years, resulting in the loss of many registered marks
including the important 'Amiga' mark in the US - which ultimately resulted
in the current litigation.
It seems that due to Hyperion's lawsuit, both companies got active again. Last week, Amino tried to stop distribution of AmigaOS 3.1.4 by sending a Cease and Desist to
Hyperion's eCommerace partner. Earlier this year, for the first time in years, expiring trademark registrations had been renewed:
The EU trademarks Amiga
and powered by Amiga are still registered as active marks owned by Amiga Inc.
As the author of Amiga Documents is now
reporting,
Amiga Inc. Delware is now listed with a status of "Good Standing" again, in contrast to "void" which used to be their status
until recently. An interesting detail in the two screenshots posted to Twitter (this kind of information is only available
to paying users of Delaware's corporate registry): In 2017 Amiga, Inc. still had a tax debt of 540,000 USD, which seems to have
been taken care of by now.
The activities of both companies are already affecting the situation, apparently. During the last few days, it was discovered that Hyperion
didn't just change their eCommerce partner as a reaction to Amino's Cease and Desist - they also changed the copyright texts
in AmigaOS 3.1.4: Where the Workbench 'About' dialog and the Kickstart screen used to say (Screenshot from a
Youtube-Video) "Copyright 2018 Hyperion Entertainment. All Rights Reserved", it now states
"Copyright 2018 Hyperion Entertainment CVBA. Developed under License".
Editor's note:
If somebody really made tax debts of half a million dollars go away, just to make Amiga Inc. capable of acting on its own again,
that suggests there are parties working behind the scenes that are still quite interested in monetarizing the remaining IP
still controlled by the company.
While Ben Hermans is using the news service of his business partner APC&TCP for one of his usual
pithy statements,
in which he explains that there's "very little room for doubt" that it's Cloanto who's behind the "administratively dissolved
Amino's" Cease and Desist, we severely doubt that Cloanto's Mike Battilana would invest six digit sums into
reactivating questionable US companies.

New graphics board drivers: Enhancer Software Graphics Upgrade
A-EON has announced the immediate availability of the "Enhancer Software Graphics Upgrade" which is a supplement to the Enhancer package. The upgrade offers 2D and 3D drivers for "Radeon RX" graphics boards with Polaris chipset. Besides, Warp 3D - the "Nova" as well as the clasic version - now can address more than 256 MB graphic memory.
What is included:
- RadeonHD version 3.6 driver
- RadeonRX version 1.11 driver
- Warp3D Nova 3D Driver for RadeonRX
Enhancer Software version 1.x as well as a supported Radeon-HD or Radeon-RX graphics board with Southern Island/Oland or Polaris-Chipsatz are required. Currently the RX driver only works with the X5000 or the announced A1222/Tabor - other systems obviously require a firmware upgrade. A Sam460 does not show any BIOS output using the latest U-Boot version but boots without any problems AmigaOS if the RX driver is installed.
In a discussion on amigaworld.net Amigakit explained that for customers of the "Plus" edition of Enhancer about 35 Euro have to be paid, owners of the standard edition have to pay about 44,50 Euro (plus taxes and charges of the online biller service). Purchasers of the package will get "a licence" for the announced second generation of the "Enhancer Software" package.

CS530 and CS540: New A500 accelerator boards in development
The Polish people Szymon 'Cizar' Paprocki and Andrzej 'Sellen' Rogozynski are working on accelerator boards for the Amiga 500 which will be equipped with processors of 68030, 68040 or 68060. Prototypes already exist. You can watch videos about the "CS530" and "CS540" on the Youtube channel of Paprocki.
All statements of the developers only are available in Polish and the boards still are in an early development stage. The following features are planned:
- MC68030 (with FPU MC68882) and 040 processors, 68060 also planned
- SDRAM or DDR chips as FastRAM, controlled by a Spartan6 FPGA controller
- Slot for CF cards
- IDE port (40 Pin)
- A ARM ST32H7 microcontroller with 400Mhz, its function is not clear. Translations of third parties from the Polish say "a new chipset with access to the complete FastRAM".
- NAU8822AYG-based soundcard with MP3-decoder and AHI implementation. The original Amiga signal is supposed to be taken through the card
- USB
- UEXT
- WIFI (ESP 32 WROOM)
- MicroSD slot
- 12-bit stereo sampler

Shoot'em Up previews: Invaders (playable preview) and Inviyya (video)
Inviyya is a shoot'em up game (videos: 1, 2) inspired by R-Type which has been developed for two years. The engine was finished but according to the author still some bugs have to be fixed and diverse levels to be completed. The final release is planned before Xmas.
Invaders is a clone of the classic Space Invaders. The game has been developed for the game competition of the Retrokomp but still is not quite finished - e.g. sound is missing.

Event: Amiga Hackroom122 Meetup (27./28. October, Warsaw)
On October 27 and 28 in Warsaw the 'Amiga Hackroom122 Meetup' will take place. The first day is dedicated to the demoscene and a MorphOS presentation of Grzegorz Kraszewski. On the second day there will be workshops on AMOS and music trackers. Ticktes are available for 10 Zloty (about 2,40 Euro).
