Workbench enhancement: BetterWB 3.2
Similar to AIAB, AmiKit or AmigaSYS, BetterWB is a collection of Workbench tools for AmigaOS 3.1 which are rather simple and therefore have low hardware requirements. It is meant for purists, low end Amiga computers and Minimig users.
BetterWB runs on all Amigas and is provided as disk images. It requires the original disks of the Workbench 3.1 (3.0 may be sufficient as well but was not tested) and 8 MB free harddrive memory.
Changes:
- DosPrefs is a commodity that replaces both Clicknot and Unixdirs3 and adds wildcard support
- A powerful system Trashcan is now included as a commodity
- MagicMenu has now a preferences program and is configured to use less resources
- Boards.library got updated to its last incarnation
- A bugfixed requestchoice command fixes three bugs that were previously available
- Tooltype tweaking on some commodities for more comfortable use
- Workaround for an icon.library bug regarding internal deficons
- Format GUI now works without problems
- Plus Many more fixes and minor enhancements

AmigaOS 4: File manager Dir Me Up 2.30
Jérôme 'Glames' Senays has released an update for his commercial file manager "Dir Me Up". The most important changes in version 2.30:
- View by icons:
- Only visible thumbnails on the screen are loaded.
- Improved responsiveness when loading thumbnails.
- Internal image viewer:
- 4/3 and 16/9 buttons are now fully operational (the image size is initialized to default values).
- Resizing of pictures works as it should.
- Added a notification when copying or deleting an image.
- [-] key resize to 4/3 default values.
- The total number of images is now always visible.
- Archiving: use relative path.
- Improved the "text" file preview halt if it's too large (1 second max).
- Resizing columns of the list is possible.
- The [F5] key allows to refresh the contents of the current directory.
- When you iconise "DirMeUp", its own icon is now displayed on the Workbench.
- Added keyboard shortcuts in hint infos.
- Info files are not counted when pasting if the user has chosen not to see them.
- Fixed a problem that sometimes creates a drawer '.info' when pasting.
- Thousand separators are now localized (for example, '.' will be used for Spanish people).
- Italian, Swedish and German translations updated.
- Compiling with SDK 53.24.

WHDLoad: New packages until 14.12.2013
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups on your harddisk that were not compatible with anything but floppy disks. The following installer has been added until December 14th, 2013:

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: Ask Me Up 1.3.3
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up "is a video game about general knowledge" for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS (as well as for Android, Linux and Windows). There is also a L and XL edition with a two player mode. A demo version with 80 questions is available for free.
In version 1.3.3 the translations have been completed up to the following levels:
- German: Demo (100 %), L (95 %), XL (43 %)

- Spanish: Demo (66 %), L (71 %), XL (47 %)

MorphOS 3.4 released
Press release: The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 3.4, which introduces faster R300 graphics drivers, improved video playback on G5-based systems, support for non-native display resolutions on various PowerBooks, screen blanker password protection, and numerous bug fixes and other improvements. For an overview of the included changes, please read our release notes.
We strongly urge new users to carefully read our installation and troubleshooting guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 3.4 is available for download in our files section. (snx)

ACube Systems and A-EON Technology announce future co-operation
On the occasion of Pianeta Amiga 2013, A-EON Technology (UK) and ACube Systems (Italy) announced that they have concluded a joint co-operation agreement to promote the continued development of hardware and software for the benefit of the Classic and Next-Generation Amiga communities. Linux: Lubuntu 13.10 for Sam440ep / Kernel 3.12.5 for AmigaOne X1000
For users of a Sam440ep or Sam440ep Flex, 'Spectre660' has made available the Linux distribution Lubuntu 13.10. It can be installed with a Netinstall-CD.
For the AmigaOne X1000, Christian 'xeno74' Zigotzky has released an kernel update to version 3.12.5. New features:
- Kernel-module-directory added
- Based on the bugfix-version of the Vanilla-kernel 3.12.5
- Kernel-module für 3dfx graphic boards added

AmigaOS 4: SketchBlock 2.5
The latest version of Andy Broad's graphic programm SketchBlock (video) introduces support for palettes. Due to the two-year developing history, the author published some figures:
Currently the source code has 2,5 MB with over 83.000 lines in more than 280 files. The programm is written in three computer languages (C, Python and ARexx), the documentation was additionally created with Perl-scripts. SketchBlock now can handle over 150 ARexx-commands.

Google and Cloanto release Amiga emulator for Chrome browser
Together with Cloanto, Google released a port of the Amiga emulator UAE for Chrome, utilizing the Portable Native Client (PNaCl) for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Chrome OS. This way the PNa-Client requests the corresponding C programs from Google's servers and translates the commands into the native code of the platform the browser is currently running on.
The demo version for Chrome 31+ at the title link can be upgraded for 74 Cent by Cloanto's Amiga Forever Essentials. They include Kickstart versions 1.2, 1.3 as well as 2.04 and enable usage of ADF disk images.

ACA500: Acrylic glass cases can be preordered
For the accelerator board ACA500 developed by Individual Computers (amiga-news.de reported), AmiStore.de offers an acrylic glass case which can be preordered from now. The delivery will start before Christmas.
According to Patrick Launhardt of AmiStore.de, the case will be also available at Vesalia.

MorphOS: Odyssey Web Browser 1.21
Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly has released a new version of the WebKit-engine based web browser Odyssey for MorphOS. The core and the media player have been updated and now it is possible to start downloads without choosing a path. All changes are listed in the Readme-file.
