In August Richard Löwenstein held a key note speech about his game Reshoot Proxima 3 at futuRETRO, an event hosted by the Technical University in Augsburg, Germany. Game designer and programmer Rebecca Heineman has passed away
Rebecca Heineman gained early fame as the 1980s champion of the game "Space Invaders", making her one of the first officially recognized video game world champions in the United States. Later in her career, she co-founded Interplay Productions and contributed to numerous influential games.
Her best-known title for the Amiga is undoubtedly "The Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate" (1991), which she spearheaded as a programmer and designer for the Amiga and other home computers. She also worked as a programmer on the Amiga titles "Dragon Wars" (1990), "Tass Times in Tonetown" (1986), and "Borrowed Time" (1986).
Heineman was an important voice for diversity and inclusion in the industry and was particularly committed to LGBTQ+ rights in the gaming scene. (nba)
