Event: Pictures of Amiga34 in Neuss (2nd Update)
This weekend the Amiga34 is taking place in Neuss, Germany. For amiga-news.de, Thomas Scheller has taken some pictures.

One of the most outstanding exhibits was the x64 version of MorphOS, presented on a MSI-B450M-Mortar-Titanium board with Ryzen-5-3600 processor made by AMD. Currently via PXE-Netboot is started (amiga-news.de reported):

Besides, there have been replica of the Amiga 500 ("Project R.E.D."), of the Amiga 2000 ("A2K Black & White Edition 2.0") and of the AGA Amiga 3000 prototype AA3000 ("AA3000+" of the Finnish developer 'Hese' [older photos])):

Other presented systems ranged from a SAGE-II system (AmigaOS was developed on a SAGE IV) to an upgraded Amiga 1000 and an AmigaOne X5000/40:

The 23 offered Vampire-V4 computer (nine others have been picked up by beta testers) was sold out within hours.
Update: (09:23, 14.10.19, snx)
In a previous version of this news-item we mistook the photos of the AA3000 with the Amiga 3000 replica ReAmiga 3000. Photos and a video of the latter you can find in our follow-up news-item instead.
2nd Update: (09:02, 18.10.19, snx):
David Brunet kindly pointed out to us that the computer shown wasn't a populated exemplar of the rare AA3000 prototypes, but the extended replica AA3000+ instead. We appologize for our mistake. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Amiga34: MorphOS on an AMD64 computer
This weekend the Amiga34 is taking place in Neuss, Germany. Here the MorphOS developer team has presented its operating system on an AMD-Ryzen-5 computer equipped with a Radeon-HD-4650 graphics board (Twitter: picture, video).
Regarding the video Károly 'chainq' Balogh has pointed out that it is a very early version with debug output handele - actually this morning Mark 'bigfoot' Olsen got it running on this new computer, for he could not bring his older system. Therefore you should not draw conclusions from the length of the booting about the future performance.
Due to a PowerPC emulation, on the AMD64 all existing PowerPC and 68k programs are working. This is based on a new kernel written by Mark Olsen, which is running on the presented system completely AMD64-nativ in 64-Bit mode, but also on PPC32 and PPC64 processors.
The presented system only is a preview what a future MorphOS NG could look like; many components still are missing. On the demonstration computer a mixture of AMD64 and PowerPC code is used.
Additionally the MorphOS team presents an Amiga 4000 with MorphOS 3.13 on a - according to the description - Cyberstorm-PPC accelerator board with 420 MHz (photo of its processor), that had already been shown at Amiga32 also. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Remake of Sierra's "Gold Rush" (1989) can be preordered
After "Cinemaware Retro", obviously Sunlight Games also is planning to remake and sell retro games. It will be started with Sierra's text adventure Gold Rush (1989) which will be released under Sunlight's new label "Retrotainment" and which currently can be preordered for 25 Euro in its webshop.
Items in this Special Edition:
- Game on 2 Disks for Amiga (Because of different types of disk-drives used in the Amiga, there may be problems reading the disks. Therefore, the CD contains the ADF-files to copy the content onto disks with a free tool.)
- Disks with a printed color label
- Printed manual
- On CD: Book "California Gold" for copy protection, drawings, ADF game files
- On DVD: PC-Remake "Gold Rush! Anniversary", playable on PC without Internet connection, DRM-free
- A printed certificate including the serial-number of the limited Special Edition
- A printed DIN A1 poster on a high-quality paper
- A printed label of the game logo
Hint of the editorial: The screenshots in the webshop are slightly misleading: the bottom row of the screen was cut. There the text input line of Gold Rush is - the game uses Sierra's older AGI-engine which requires commands entered with the keyboard. Sunlight's "cut" version is supposed to suggest a more modern feeling than it really is.

Javascript: TAWS - The Amiga Workbench Simulation 0.32
TAWS ("The Amiga Workbench Simulation") is a Javascript simulation of the Amiga-Workbench 1.0 - 4.1FE for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Apple-WebKit-Browser (including Odyssey). Any kind of feedback the author Michael Rupp would very appreciate. His work can be supported by a donation from inside TAWS.
Version 0.32 provides the following changes:
-
Tribute to AmiKit XE:
- new Presets "OS 3.9 AmiKitX Dark"
- new Presets "OS 3.9 AmiKitXE Retro"
- accordingly adjusted boot animation
- new window layout "3.9 AmiKit X Dark"
- new window layout "3.9 AmiKit XE Retro"
- new pattern "AmiKit X Backdrop Dark"
- new pattern "AmiKit XE Backdrop Dark"
- new pattern "AmiKit XE Backdrop Retro"
- new pattern "AmiKit X Pattern Dark"
- new pattern "AmiKit X Pattern Dark Reaction"
- new pattern "AmiKit XE Pattern Retro"
- new (blue) trashcan icon for the iconset "AmiKit X"
Many thanks to Jan Zahurancik (AmiKit) for donating me a copy of AmiKit XE and granting the use of the graphics.
- Complete czech localization - many thanks to Lagya Horky from guruteam.cz.
- OS 4.0: miscellanious adjustments (incl. the requester icons) - many thanks to Carlo 'AMIGASYSTEM' Spadoni for his support.
- Created version 2.0 of the Topaz-Fonts A500 und A1200 erstellt: added the special characters of the languages polish, czech and russian.
No more need for the additional russian font.
- Chrome: workaround for a change (or bug?) in its layout engine in one of the latest versions (+/- v77.0), which rendered all windows (except those with fuelbars) with bottom borders too large.
- Performance increase when starting TAWS by using XMLHttpRequest() instead of img.onerror() when dynamically checking the existence of the elements of a window layout.
- File size optimizations of some pattern images.
-
Bugfixes:
- Firefox, Internet Explorere and MS Edge: correction of the horizontal gradients by 180° (AmiKitX's boot progress bar, vertical scrollbar of the palette's listbox).
- smaller corrections of the window layout "OS 3.9 AmiKitX"
- small layout correction when minimizing the prefs windows
- DiskCopy: correction of a JavaScript error (bug since 0.30)
- Keyboard navigation: if more than one GUI element is using the same shortcut, now only the first is executed.
