Upcoming games: Alco-Copter (demo) and Green Beret (video)
In Alco-Copter developed by "Flashtro" you have to control a little helicopter. Now a playable demo version with six levels is available. The game requires 1 MB Chip-RAM.
Another developer team called "Megastyle" currently is working on its first Amiga game: Green Beret (Youtube video) is supposed to become a port of the same-titled C64 classic game.

Retro arcade action: Roadtrip and Quasarius
On his website Rafael Lima has released ports of two classic arcade games: In Roadtrip written in only 12 days you have to find your way to the exit in time and to avoid vehicles and obstacles. Quasarius is a Space-Invaders clone.
Roadtrip requires 1 MB RAM. On computers equipped with OCS chipset it can cause graphic errors. Users of emulators should enable cycle-accurate emulation. Quasarius runs on every Amiga with at least 512 Kilobyte RAM.

AmigaOS 4: New MPlayer port MickJT-MPlayer
Michael Trebilcock has ported the latest version 1.3.0 of the movie player MPlayer to AmigaOS. All Amiga related code was taken from previous ports of afxgroup (Workbench startup code) and LiveForIt (other Amiga related code). By default MickJT-MPlayer reduces the video quality in order to reduce cpu load - you can change that by editing the included configuration file.

A500 accelerator board: Wicher 500i (Ex) supports MP3 decoder Hardware
The accelerator boards of the Wicher 500i series now support MP3 decoder hardware based on the VS1003 chip. The decoder modules have to be bought and connected with the accelerator board with a self-made cable by the users themselves. Tutorials can be found on the product sites of the models Wicher 500i and Wicher 500i Ex.

Commercial games: Playable preview of AlarCity, teaser video of "Worthy"
The developers of Pixelglass have published news for two of their upcoming, commercial games: For AlarCity, which is a top-down-view-shooter for AGA computers, a new demo version is available. The game will be distributed by amiga.net.pl. Additional to the digital download, the sale of disks (with or without a box) and diverse "Gold Editions" is planned as well. The game is supposed to be released in the second quarter of 2018 but already can be paid.
A second Pixelglass game in the "low budget" segment is supposed to be released at the beginning of Anfang 2018 despite it was announced recently: A Youtube video provides a first impression of "Worthy", which is a little arcade game. The game was written by Alex Brown known for the game Blocky Skies and is almost completed. It will be sold on CD, disk or as digital download.

Trademark disputes: Cloanto sued Hyperion in USA
In the dispute about the rights of the trademark "Amiga" (amiga-news.de reported), this month Cloanto, for some years owner of the Commodore and Amiga copyrights, has sued Hyperion in the USA, where in January the company applied for this trademark. Reason for the law-suit is that Hyperion did appeal against this application because in their opinion the registration could cause confusion with their own trademarks "AmigaOS" and "AmigaOne".
According to the statement of claim (PDF file), Cloanto wants to be determined by court that they are the lawful owner of the trademark "Amiga" and that therefore Hyperion is not allowed to apply for trademarks like "AmigaOS" or "AmigaOne". Furthermore the court battle is about the distribution of AmigaOS 1.3 Kickstart ROMs by Hyperion; also the document notes that Hyperion would not have been allowed to market AmigaOS 3.1. Retro 7-bit: WicherInstaller 1.3 for accelerator board Wicher 500i
For the accelerator board Wicher 500i produced by Retro 7-bit a software update has been released. The release provides support for the variation "500i Ex" of the accelerator board.

Amiga history: Pictures of Checkmate-1500 case
Under the title link a collector has published pictures of one of his two Checkmate 1500. This is a metal case sold around the year 1990 for the Amiga 500, which offered more space for extensions (entry in Big Book of Amiga Hardware).

Hollywood-GUI: HGui 1.2
Fabio 'Allanon' Falcucci's HGui is a GUI system developed with Hollywood, which in contrary to MUI Royale is available for all platforms which support Hollywood (amiga-news.de reported) - although currently there are some limitations under Android.
Changes:
- Fix: There was missing parameters when the callback 'OnChange' for TreeView
items was called
- New: Added flag 'selectGroups' on TreeView class(default to True):
if it is set to false the group items cannot be selected
- Fix: ListView's :set() method. When using the special tag 'selected' to pass
a single item to be selected (a numeric value), there was no check
to see if the ListView was allowing 'multi-selection'. This was
causing multiple selections on 'single-selection' ListViews using this
specific tag
- New: ListView -> Added method :Insert() to add a single record, this is
an additional way to add items (see special tag 'insert' of the :set()
method for further details)
- New: ListView -> Added event 'OnInsert' raised when an item has been added
to the ListView
- Doc: Improved the HGui.Window:InputBoxNew(params) documentation
- New: Added new method HGui.Gadget:freeChildren(refresh) to free all children
attached to a gadget. This is usefull when you have to create gadget
groups at runtime

Games launcher: X-bEnCh 1.1 X-mas Public Beta Release
Jim Neray's X-bEnCH is a graphical user-interface with up to 640 colours (AGA; 128 on OCS/ECS-computers) which can replace the Workbench for launching WHDLoad-games and other applications and requires low hardware resources. An integrated command line as well as the file manager Xpl0rEr (video) are also available.
In version 1.1 among others a bug concerning Vampire accelerator boards was fixed and 112 new game screenshots were added.

WHDLoad: New installers until 23.12.2017
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until December 23th, 2017:

Hardware: MP3 sound card for Amiga 1200 in development
According to Matthias Münch under the Twitter title link (German), Piotr Gozdur is developing a MP3 sound card for the clock port of the Amiga 1200. It will have 128 KB memory buffer and hardware support for the formats MP3, AAC, OGG, MIDI, WMA, FLAC and WAV. Currently he is working on finishing the software.
