Linux: Kernel 3.15.8 for AmigaOne X1000
Christian 'xeno74' Zigotzky has compiled the Linux-kernel 3.15.8 with virtualization infrastructure for the AmigaOne X1000. This is the PR-version of the virtualization which runs the guest system in user modus. It is less powerful than the HV-version but works on almost all computers.

MorphOS: E-UAE 0.8.29-PPCJIT-B04 for G5, MPlayer 1.0-svn-14.07.24, ScummVM 1.7.0
As announced, Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly also has compiled beta version 4 of the E-UAE-version with PowerPC-JIT-compiler for G5-computers.
Additionally he has ported the latest SVN-version r37235 of the video player MPlayer 1.0 for MorphOS as well as version 1.7.0 of the adventure interpreter ScummVM.

AROS: AEROS 3.9.0a for i386-computers available (2nd Update)
In Pascal Papara's indieGO!-store version 3.9.0a of his Linux-hosted AROS-distribution AEROS is available (video).
For a longer time, only ARM-devices are supported but this AEROS-update, based on the Linux distribution Knoppix, again is meant for x86-PCs. Version 3.9.0a does not has to be installed because it is an USB/Flash-image.

I hope I have gathered all configurations. Knoppix is booting almost on all computers/platforms but configurating X11 and/or Compiz is a little bit tricky. Common problem: I still did not succeeded in adapting the X11 configuration for the EEEPC701. I am working on it. On all platforms AEROS 3.9 should work.
Changelog:
- Switched to knoppix (a Debian-based distribution focused on live-mode)
- Removed old AROS Vision files, no new ones included yet (waiting for the light version)
- Fixed FS-UAE icon, didn't work before
- Replaced OpenOffice by LibreOffice
- Updated GIMP
- Web browser is now Iceweasel, feel free to install another one
Regressions: A lot icons are dead end because the Linux apps are not all on par with 3.5. If you reinstall the apps using apt-get or synaptic, the icons will work again.
Future versions only will be available on the indieGO!-store. Soon it will be part of the distributions and keep them current. The new version then makes it possible to create an indieGO-ID out of the client (without web browser)."

Documentation of Hollywood Designer 4.0 online available
Recently the documentations of Hollywood 5.3 and MUI Royale 1.2 have been made available online, now the manual of Hollywood Designer 4.0 is available as HTML and PDF version.
In comparison with with the AmigaGuide-version of the documentation, the HTML and PDF version includes several screenshots of the application windows to simplify the functions.

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: Ask Me Up 1.5.1
Now version 1.5.1 of Ask Me Up is available. Additional to the correction of some questions, the Swedish ranslation of the L-edition has been completed.
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up is a guessing game for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS (as well as Android, Linux and Windows). You have to answer questions on the general knowledge having four different answers to choose. The L- and XL-edition also have a two player mode. There is a demo version with 80 questions.

MorphOS: Donation collecting for developers of free software

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: E-UAE 0.8.29-PPC-JIT beta version 4
Álmos Rajnai's integration of a just-in-time-compiler into the Amiga emulator E-UAE for PowerPC-systems was updated. The fourth beta version fixes further bugs.
The version of the author does not support G5-systems but Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly has announced, after beta version 3, to compile a version for MorphOS as soon as possible.

Multimedia Authoring: Hollywood Player 5.3
Press release: Airsoft Softwair is proud to announce that the Hollywood Player is now also available for all desktop platforms supported by Hollywood (AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, WarpOS, AROS, Windows, Mac OS PPC & x86, Linux PPC & x86).
Although it was originally scheduled for release on June 3, 2006 (and even finished back then) its final publication for desktop systems was postponed again and again limiting the availability of the Hollywood Player to the Android platform for several years.
But now that the Hollywood Player is finally available for desktop platforms as well, software authors can choose to distribute their programs as Hollywood applets instead of stand-alone executables. In contrast to stand-alone executables, Hollywood applets are universally executable which has the advantage that you don't have to compile your programs for as much as almost a dozen of different platforms but just one Hollywood applet is already sufficient. The end-user then simply has to install the Hollywood Player compatible with his platform and can run the Hollywood applet with it.
Another advantage is that applets are much smaller than stand-alone executables compiled by Hollywood. While stand-alone executables often take up as much as 2 MB for only very few lines of code, Hollywood applets are very compact and often consist of only a few kilobytes. A last advantage is that programs distributed as Hollywood applets will automatically profit from improvements and bug fixes in newer versions of the Hollywood Player while programs distributed as stand-alone executables would have to be completely recompiled with each new Hollywood update in order to profit from improvements and bug fixes.
As its very name implies, the Hollywood Player can only be used to run applets compiled by Hollywood. It obviously cannot be used to create your own programs. You will still need the full version of Hollywood to create your own programs, of course.
On all Amiga compatibles, Hollywood Player installs itself to SYS:Utilities to be globally available as a default tool for Hollywood applets. Software authors choosing to distribute their programs as Hollywood applets can then simply set the default tool for their applets to "HollywoodPlayer" and inform the user to install the Hollywood Player before attempting to run the program.
The Hollywood Player is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal for a wide range of architectures and comes with three demo applets to show its capabilities.

Writing Amiga disks under Windows: ADTWin 1.0
With the help of a PC disk drive, which is connected with a self-made cable to the parallel port of a PCs, the Windows programm ADTWin writes ADF-images on Amiga disks. It takes approximately 37s per disk. It is not possible to read disks.
If you do not have any PC disk drive you can also use an Amiga-Floppy. In this case, ADTWin offers a special "Connection Mode" called "Amiga Drive".

Linux distribution: AmiPUP 1.1.0
Following public availability for AmiKit (amiga-news.de reported), AmiPUP has been updated to version 1.1.0 and is at the same time available separately from that Amiga distribution now.
AmiPUP is a Linux Live CD of less than 180 MB and based on Slacko Puppy Linux 5.7. It's purpose is to be a portable host for AmiKit, Amiga Forever or any other emulated Amiga/AROS system. (snx)

AmigaOS 4: ScummVM 1.7.0
Version 1.7.0 ("The Neverrelease") of the adventure interpreter ScummVM has been released for AmigaOS 4 and does support five additional games now: The Neverhood, Mortville Manor, Voyeur, Return to Ringworld, Chivalry is Not Dead.

Retrospect: The almost forgotten story of the Amiga 2000

Platform game: Goatlizard DX
Goatlizard DX is a reworked version of The Incredible Adventures of Moebius Goatlizard which was written in assembler. The update adds music during the game, provides an improved two player mode and a level editor. Besides, more enemies are in the game.
Goatlizard DX should run on most of the Amiga configurations, but the author recommends a 68020-CPU. The game is not compatible to 68010-processors.

Andreas Falkenhahn writes: Michael 'Clyde Radcliffe' Jurisch's Hollywood add-on for Cubic IDE has been updated to support the full Hollywood 5.3 command set now. Furthermore, there have been some bug fixes and optimizations.
The hw4cubic plugin allows you to use Cubic IDE as an IDE for Hollywood. The complete Hollywood command set is imported into Cubic IDE so you'll get syntax highlighting, quick command information, hotkey links to the documentation for command under cursor, function list, direct access to the compiler, auto complete and intellisense functionality and much more.
In addition, a Hollywood 5.3 wordfile for the popular Windows text editor UltraEdit is now also available for download on the official Hollywood portal. This wordfile allows you to conveniently edit Hollywood scripts on Windows using UltraEdit. All downloads are available from the official Hollywood portal at the title link. (snx)

Game development: "Chaos Guns"-project needs new programmer
Recently a playable demo of the multiplayer coop-shooter "Chaos Guns" was released - now the developers have informed that the only programmer left and a new one is needed.
Chaos Guns is written in PowerD which is a very obscure further development of Amiga E which obciously is very similar to it. Therefore it is necessary to write the engine of the game right from the beginning or to translate the 10.000 lines of the PowerD source code into regular Amiga E and then to work in this language.

Apollo-Core: Photograph of Phoenix prototype (Update)
Under the title link the developers of the Apollo-Core, which also is tested in the Vampire-600 accelerator board (amiga-news.de reported), have published a photograph of Rev. A of the Apollo-Phoenix-board.
Probably in the third quarter of this year this extension for existing systems with a 68000-processor will be available. It is put on the mainboard and is supposed to provide a higher speed and complete code-compatibility.
Additional to the Cyclone-V-FPGA, the Phoenix-board has 128 MB (DDR3, 800 MHz). The operating system can be copied into the RAM using the corresponding MapROM-functions. Further features are a SD-card as IDE-harddrive, HDMI video output (Truecolor) and a network port.
In Future an included flickerfixer/scandoubler (to connect an Amiga to a HDMI-TV), a Chip-RAM-extension and an AGA- (and later Super-AGA-) extension as well as Picasso96-drivers will be added.

AmigaOS 4 / AROS: PictureAlbum r1
After the "preview"-version (amiga-news.de reported), now version 1 of PictureAlbum written by Christopher Handley is available. By fixing a bug in PortablE the memory consumption of the graphic boards was lowered. The included MorphOS version creates buggy thumbnails. The author would be grateful for every hint which could solve the problem.
PictureAlbum can search picture directories which then are presented as thumbnails. By double-clicking the pictures can be viewed (screenshot). The programm saves the position of each opened picture of a directory.

New games: "Flappy Bird" and "Donkey Downfall"
Last weekend in Norwegian Solskogen, the eleventh scene party took place. In the "Wild"-competition two little games were released:
Flappy Bird is a port of the well-known Smartphone game. In Donkey Downfall (Youtube-video) you have to jump down platforms as fast as possible with a gorilla - a donkey does not appear in the game. The game requires 1 MB Chip-RAM.

MorphOS: GenesisPlus 1.7
GenesisPlus emulates the Sega-consoles Mega Drive, Sega CD, Master System and Game Gear.
Version 1.7 only shows ROM-files with a valid type (.cue|.bin|.smd|.sms|.gg), automatically sets the audio and video timing using the version of the ROM (PAL or NTSC) and offers preview pictures in the startup window as well as in the savestate manager.

AppStore: First screenshots of "AMIStore"
In October, the British trader Amigakit announced an "AppStore" called "AMIStore". The address amistore.net now is available, but without any functions. AmigaOS 3: SSL-connection to 1&1, GMX, web.de might fail
According to Jens 'damato' Maus (YAM-Team) in the Amiga-News-forum, currently problems could occur if YAM or SimpleMail are trying to establish a SSL-connection to the mail servers of 1&1, GMX or web.de.
Some weeks ago, the configuration of the mail servers have been changed: The mail programms have only little time (few seconds) to establish a SSL-connection. For computer systems which are buzy or slow - like real Amiga hardware - the time could be not long enough and the connections cannot be established.
According to Jens Maus, an update for AmiSSL is being developed which is supposed to speed up the initialization of SSL-connections.

Project: Graphic board as partly equipped platine for A500 and Zorro-slot
Currently Amiga-user Matthias "Matze" Heinrichs is reworking the design of a clone of a 20 years old graphic board Picasso II+ developed by Georg Braun. The final product is supposed to be working in a Zorro-Slot as well as (after removing a part of the connector block) in the expansion port of an Amiga 500:
In order to to be suitable with different cases, the VGA-port is on a separate platine which is connected with the graphic board by cable. This second platine also also can be connected with the Scandoubler Indivision. An integrated switcher automatically provides the required signal (graphic board or Indivision) to the VGA-port.
Heinrichs is going to sell the board as partly equipped construction kit: RAM-chips, VGA-chip, video switcher and the CPLD have been already soldered up. The other parts (resistors, condensers, wired parts) the user has to assemble by himself.
Currently it is not possible to say when the board will be available. Due to the sale as construction kit, a private sale without a trade intermediary is possible. Currently the CPLD is programmed: Autoconfig is largely implemented, according to Heinrichs programming the memory/IO-statemachine and the monitor switcher is still missing.
For the moment the well-known Picasso driver of the Picasso96 distribution can be used. It is planned to adapt this RTG-system, which currently requires at least a 68020-processor, to the 68000: the planned accelerator board Zeus contains a 50 Mhz 68000 which would be fast enough to supply the graphic board with data.

Software-News: MPlayer-GUI 1.52, BackUp 1.80
Daniel 'Deniil' Westerberg has released updates for two of his tools. MPlayer-GUI 1.52 includes new graphics, support for sb600*-CD/DVD-devices and fixes a bug in the full screen mode of the control panel.
Changes in BackUp 1.80:
- Fixed crash when copying 2GB+ files.
- Added a menu item: "Target is FAT file system". Use this when backing up to a partition with FAT file system to prevent BackUp from copying existing files over and over. The reason is that FAT can only store even seconds (0,2,4,6,..) in the file timestamp so it will not match the Amiga file timestamp.
- Also added auto-detection of FAT file system when doing an incremental backup.
- Added a synchronize mode. When clicking Clean first you will be asked if it should automatically backup when finished. Saves you some time when synchronizing backups.
- BackUp will automatically skip the ".recycled" dir when present in the root of a SFS/2 or JXFS partition. No need to manually put it in the skiplist anymore.
- Fixed size calculation for big files (2-4GB). Files over 4GB will be correctly copied and calculated, except in test mode. The "N bytes extra space was needed" may be wrong with 4GB+ files.
- Made it possible to select files over 2GB for the skiplist

New USB-adapters for keyboards, mouse and joystick announced
In Poland, obviously two new adapters are developed, which can connect an USB mouse and joystick (Youtube-Video) or keyboards (Youtube-Video) with an Amiga. The adapters emulate the original hardware, which does not require any kind of software or driver installation.
So far, there is little information about the adapters, only available in Polish (thread at ppa.pl about the keyboard-adapter). The final devices are supposed to be commercially sold.

EvenMore is a text viewer written with ECX in Amiga E and by Chris Perver. Changes in the latest version:
- Ffinally cracked the AmigaWriter fileformat. Colours, text align and most styles are supported.
- WordPerfect plugin will now recognize right and centre aligned text.
- StarWriter5 plugin will now handle strikethrough text.
- Fixed bug in Wordwrap plugin and clipboard, which meant that an extra character was being copied to the clipboard at the end of each line.
- WordWorth, FinalWriter, ProWrite, RTF and Pagestream plugins will now recognize the right and centre aligned text.
- Added a new Escape code. ESC[66m will centre text which follows it.
- Added a new Escape code. ESC[65m will undo right and centre text.
- Updated HTML plugin to recognize right and centre alignment in p and h1-6 and center.
- Fixed bug. Was unnecessarily setting the font soft style of the rastport while parsing lines.
- Sped up line display a bit. Added an extra IF block, thus removing the need for checking all font styles every time a line is displayed.
- Added a new Escape code. ESC[64m will right align text which follows it.
- Updated Dir2Text plugin so that file sizes will be displayed and right aligned using the new escape code.

New Demo: Multiplayer Coop-Shooter "Chaos Guns"
"Chaos Guns" combines the four independently playable charakters from "Hired Guns" with the bird's-eye view from "Alien Breed". Due to the feedback, the second demo version was highly reworked compared to the first preview.
According to the authors the demo now offers a real preview to the game. The first release was called a "Tech-Demo". The most important changes:
- Prefs are improved and integrated to main executable, it offers more transparent settings and testing
- only AHI sound is now supported!
- new graphics, new design of puzzles (it really plays as totally new game on old, but improved map)
- improved design of weapons and enemies
- adjusted difficulty - now you should be able easily beat the demo in one person!
- complete storyboard implementation
- complete gameplay remake

Hollywood: MUI Royale 1.2
Press release: Airsoft Softwair is proud to present the immediate availability of MUI Royale 1.2. This is a major update and finally allows you to dynamically create MUI objects at runtime.
In earlier versions it wasn't possible to add new windows or gadgets to an existing GUI at runtime. MUI Royale 1.2 now adds support for dynamic modification of all GUI components which allows you to tap the full potential of MUI, e.g. it'd be possible now to write tools like a WYSIWYG GUI builder which then exports MUI Royale XML code ready to be used in MUI Royale.
Additionally, MUI Royale 1.2 adds support for further new MUI 4.x features like dynamic addition of register pages or register pages with a close gadget. Last but not least the 68000 build of MUI Royale has support for MUI 3.9 now as this is finally available for 68000 systems, too.
MUI Royale requires at least Hollywood 5.2 and is provided free of charge for all users of Hollywood. It is available for AmigaOS 3 (m68k), AmigaOS 4 (PPC), MorphOS (PPC), and AROS (i386).
The package comes with over 20 example scripts, many of which are direct ports from the MUI 3.8 SDK by Stefan Stuntz, but there are also original developments like demonstrations of how to create a video player using the combined power of Hollywood and MUI. MorphOS: SoundBankster 1.2
Antoine 'tchecko' Dubourg's SoundBankster (screenshot) is an application für DJs, which can be completely controlled with an USB-DJ-Deck. A system with at least 512 MB RAM is recommended.
The programm was written for MorphOS and uses the new HID-sensor-API of MorphOS 3.6. Furthermore Reggae (loading and playing music), AHI (dual sound output with different AHI-units) and TinyGL (rendering of the diagram of the sounds).

MorphOS 3.6 released
Press release: The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the immediate availability of MorphOS 3.6. Delivering one of the most requested features, this new version can now utilize the built-in Wi-Fi hardware in all Apple systems that feature Broadcom´s BCM43 chipset. In addition, MorphOS further extends its support of graphics chipsets to include AMD´s R400 series by adding compatibility with Radeon X800 XT / Pro and FireGL X3 cards. Moreover, the latest version of MorphOS now enables laptop owners to define custom screen modes and provides default modes for increasingly common high resolution displays.
Improving interoperability and overall convenience, MorphOS 3.6 adds a new SMBFS filesystem handler with 64-bit I/O support for easy file sharing via network storage devices, a new VNC server to control your MorphOS systems remotely or even without a display, and a Synergy client for sharing a nearby mouse and keyboard with any Linux, MacOS or Windows machine that is part of your local network and acts as a Synergy server.
As usual, MorphOS 3.6 includes many more improvements and bug fixes. For a more complete list of all changes, please read our MorphOS 3.6 release notes.
We strongly urge new users to carefully read our installation and troubleshooting guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 3.6 is available for download in our files section.

MorphOS: InstantUnpack 1.0
Carsten Siegner's InstantUnpack is a CLI-command, which can extract archives using an MUI user-interface and the xadmaster.library (screenshot). The programm is meant to be linked with the Ambient file types. Encrypted archives are not supported yet.

AROS: ZuneView 0.11
For AROS, Yannick Erb has released version 0.11 of his picture viewer with editing functions called ZuneView.
Changes:
- Embedded exif display in main window
- Added Settings window rather than menu

- Settings are saved in icon tooltype, can be saved automatically at exit, keeping also last file/directory parsed

Cloanto: Amiga Forever 2014 with Personal Paint 7.2
Today, version 2014 of the complete emulation package Amiga Forever has been released - as usual in three editions. Among other features, the new version 7.2 of Personal Paint is included, which has been edited to also compile for AmigaOS 4.
Changes:
- All Windows versions now come with a Windows Installer download (no need to burn or mount an ISO image to access the installer, or to wait for postal delivery)
- New Build Image feature (Tools menu of Plus Edition), to create personalized ISO images (burn to CD or DVD) and portable environments (e.g. to run from USB storage). This is similar to the "old" Amiga Forever media, except that the content can now be updated and customized
- Support for third-party "RP-Image" templates, to generate bootable content etc. (documentation is available)
- New Restore System Files feature (Tools menu) to reset shared components (Amiga ROM and OS files, system RP9s etc.)
- New RP9 thumbnail provider for Windows is pure eye candy. This accompanies new and faster Open, Edit and Convert to RP9 commands accessible directly from File Explorer, to offer a better content experience outside the player
- Set personal rating for any title (not just cataloged ones)
- New visual Screen Clip Editor, for easy adjustment of Amiga screen mode settings
- WinFellow is now available as an additional RetroPlatform-enabled emulation plugin. You can click any compatible title and select "Play with/WinFellow", or select plugin priority and additional options in the Amiga Forever Emulation settings
- Brand new Personal Paint 7.2 preinstalled in Workbench 3.X environment
- Updated AROS and other content
- Enhanced RP9 Editor, with new media mount options and dozens of new features
- Integration with social networks for "Now Playing" updates, manual posts and screenshot uploads

MorphOS: GUI for E-UAE - rhLaunch 0.8
