Commercial Shoot'em Up 'Inviyya' available (update)
The digital edition of the Shoot'em Up 'Inviyya' (amiga-news.de reported) can be purchased from the developer's website now. For 12 USD (about 10 Euro) you get ADF and HD versions of the game, as well as the game's entire soundtrack as a separate bonus download.
Boxed editions of the game can be preordered from Polyplay, a total of 4 different versions is available. The following two offers are each available as Amiga and CD32 editions:

Nintendo emulator: A/NES 1.2
The Nintendo emulator A/NES (not to be confused with A/NES Pro, which is based on the same source-code but with a rewritten graphics engine) had not been updated for more than 14 years. Now Morgan Johansson rediscovered his fun on working on the original version, which is restricted to ECS and AGA, respectively. Thus further releases are possible.
Changes in version 1.2:
- Minor graphics optimizations
- Rewrote stack-handling code (no more "stack overflow" errors)
- Fixed bug related to Sprite-DMA that could crash the game
- Removed some old debug-code that slowed things down (oops)
- Added mapper 87

Programming contest: Results of BASIC 10Liner Contest
For the "BASIC 10Liner Contest" you could send in self written BASIC programms consisting of exactly 10 lines (amiga-news.de reported). Usually the winners are announced during the annual live show "NOMAM" ("Not only marvelous Atari machinery").
As Gunnar Kanold wrote, due to a case of illness the "NOMAM" could not be take place as planned. Therefore the results of the contest have been announced on Twitter little by little and finally the complete list has been published.
On the Games list 2021 all programms are introduced with pictures. "The Children", released for Atari 800 XL, this year has been the winner of the category "EXTREM-256" getting an average score of 10,17 which was the best. This time no programms for Amiga was sent in.
Due to the overwhelming response, Gunnar Kanold is considering to change the mode of the contest: The team could hardly manage this large number of submissions.

Arcade game in 60 KB: Wrong Way Driver
In 'Wrong Way Driver' (Video) you have to avoid oncoming vehicles. The game was made by pink^abyss, who was already responsible for Tinyus, Tiny Invaders, Tiny Galaga und Tiny Bobble.
'Wrong Way Driver' is written in C++ and is only 60 KB in size. The game runs on any PAL Amiga with at least 512 KB memory.

Source code editor: Hollywood support for Visual Studio Code
An extension for Microsoft's Visual Studio Code (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) has been published on Github, which enables the development of Hollywood programs with the free source code editor. The extension can be installed with the extension manager of Visual Studio Code, just filter by the keyword "Hollywood". Commercial platformer: Boxed edition of 'Putter' available (AGA)
'Putter' (video) is a Soccer Kid inspired platformer developed with the construction kit RedPill. The "Boxed Edition" is now available from Polish vendor allegro.pl for the equivalent of 10 Euros. Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.87
RedPill developed by Carlos Peris is a Game Construction Kit written in AmiBlitz 3.8, which can help developing games of diverse genres - see our little review of two games. Recently a preview video of the forthcoming game "Putter" has been released being also developed with RedPill. RedPill is compatible to AGA and ECS, the "player" requires a total of 1,5 MB RAM.
Changes since version 0.85:
- Help information is available in the editor, press the (i) button in the bottom of the screen.
- Fix in Force NTSC flag that can be used from the CLI or the Icon Tooltype.
- Added Stamp action trigger that prints an object to the brackground of the level.
- Change in screen refresh when the camera position moves abruptly.
- Added HUD Refresh trigger to fully repaint he hud. Only use it when changing labels.
- Editor stack increased to allow the sprite editor to cut bigger sprites.
- Now it is possible to copy and paste objects. It should work between projects too.
- Added C64 menu color scheme.
- Fix in games not using HUD.
- Fixes in the copperlist.
- Fix small glitch in the bottom of the menu.

Demo party: Results and releases of "Revision"
Last weekend the 19th 'Revision' took place, again only as live stream event. Despite of it, many demo productions took place, among others 22 Amiga demos in the categories 'Amiga Demo', 'Amiga Intro', 'Oldskool Intro' and 'Wild Demo'.
Download links of the demos can be found on pouet.net. The source code of the winner of the category Amiga-Intro - Planet Disco Balls created by von 'Planet Jazz' - already has been released on Github.

MorphOS: E-mail client Iris 0.116
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek's "Iris" is going to be the standard e-mail client for MorphOS. It supports IMAP and can display as well as create HTML e-mails.

Crowd funding: LLVM supports Motorola 68000
In 2019, the m68k-backend of GCC was successfully financed. Now another crowd funding campaign has been successfully completed for implementing a m68k-backend for the compiler LLVM: The code has been already added to the official source archive. Thus all future version of LLVM can also create code in all supported programming languages for Motorola's processors.

Platform game: Port of 'King's Valley'
'King's Valley' (video) is the port of the platform game for MSX computer released in 1985. The Amiga game was written in BlitzBasic, runs on OCS computers and offers 50 Hz frames per second, smooth scrolling and improved animations.

Another update for the web browser IBrowse has been released which is free for existing customers:
- Fixed crash when modifying strings in the spoof settings, which occurred with older MUI versions
- Tweaked default fastlink URLs, whilst adding EAB.abime.net
- 68k: Fixed drawer icon inheritance setting
- Removed call to deprecated MUI_Error() function
- Completely abandoned bidirectional SSL shutdowns due to some servers being broken and not replying properly, which caused HTTPS connections to hang and never complete
- Updated Polish and Italian language catalogs
- OS4: Fixed AmiUpdate not updating the Norwegian catalog
- Updated PNG decoder using libpng 1.6.37
- Fixed possible reference to freed memory for secure pages when updating the status bar
- Detect incomplete gzip encoded downloads, flagging them as an error and allowing the auto resume feature to handle them too
- Added handling of marginwidth, marginheight, border and scrolling attributes for <iframe> elements
- Fixed broken JavaScript in iframes, due to wrong (parent) context being used
- Skip alternative content for iframes when iframes enabled
- Fixed crash when freeing pages with nested iframes
- Image links and maps now default to showing no border
- Border now rendered for non-linked image elements when specified
- 68k: Downgraded locale.library requirement from V39 to V38, for Workbench 3.0 compatibility
- Fixed crash that would happen should locale.library fail to open
- Fixed case where HTTPS connections did not finish loading due to some servers not responding to an SSL shutdown, when the disk cache was disabled
The developers also explained: "Some development work has also been done on HTML <iframe> support (which Stefan started during IBrowse 2.4 development), but this remains disabled in public releases until it is deemed stable."

Encryption protocol: AmiSSL 4.9
Version 4.9 of the encryption protocol AmiSSL provides an update to the latest version of OpenSSL as well as some Amiga specific improvements:
- Updated OpenSSL backend to full compatibility to latest
OpenSSL 1.1.1k (25.03.2021) version, which brings security and bug fixes
- Simplified and improved logic in amisslmaster.library for choosing which
libraries to open
- Installer will now delete redundant AmiSSLv4 libraries where possible
- Added Swedish installer translation
- Updated icons with more modern GlowIcons
- Added sample openssl.cnf file and CA.pl helper script to the installation
- Added CA.pl documentation to OpenSSL.doc

AmigaOS 4: New audio driver for Intel HD Audio
A new AHI driver for AmigaOS 4 supports PCIe cards with sound chips meeting the HD Audio specifications. The archive also includes a simple "mixer" for controlling the volume.
Which cards do work (verified):
- Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy FX (24bit/192kHz 5.1)
- Startech PEXSOUND7CH (24bit/192kHz 7.1) -> Available under many different brands
- Fransande 411944 (24bit/192kHz 7.1) -> Available under many different brands
Cards that should work:
- Terratec AUREON 7.1 PCIe (will arive shortly for verfication)
- Basically every combination of HDaudio controllers and HD audio multichannel codecs (eg. CA0113, CM8828, CM8888, CM9882A ALC898 etc)
Older cards that might work (no guarantees):
- Asus Xonar Phoebus solo (CM8888 in combination with high quality discrete DACs)
- Powercolor Devil HDX (CM8888 in combination with discrete DACs)
Cards that do not work (yet):
- Core3d (CA0132) based Sound Blasters (Eg Z, AE-5, AE-7, AE-9 etc). These cards have a DSP (ca0132) instead of an audio codec. Support is planned but don't hold your breath because extensive and undocumented configuration is required.
Cards that will never work:
- PCIe Asus soundcards that are on sale now. These cards are either AV100 ( rebadged CMI8788), CM8786 or C-media 6632AX (USB chip) based. Neither of these chips comply with the Intel HDaudio standard
- Sound blaster Audigy RX and all other EMU based or X-FI based sound blasters. (do not comply with the Intel HD audio standard)
- Non-PCIe soundcards in general like external USB cards

Preview videos: Puzzle game 'Follix' for AGA computers

Playable preview: Unfinished shooter 'Blork'

End user help wanted: VirusZ and xvs.library to become open source
Georg Wittmann (formerly Hörmann) plans to release the source codes of his projects VirusZ and xvs.library after 15 years of inactivity. Before that he wants to make sure that his anti-virus software runs on AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS (m68k): Since he himself does not have most of the systems mentioned, he has written a short program that collects and outputs information about the current computer. AmigaOS 4: Enhancer Software 2
Today, version 2 of the AmigaOS 4.1 extension package "Enhancer Software" by A-EON Technology has been released. Customers who have purchased the "Enhancer Software Graphics Update" before can download it for free using the "Updater" utility. According to customers, the full version is available in Amistore for about 120 USD.
New features include for example hardware-accelerated video decoding on Radeon Polaris graphic cards, an extension of the OpenGLES 2 library, preferences for the power settings of Radeon Southern Islands/Oland and Polaris cards, an archiver tool for the major kinds of compressed archives and additional datatypes.

- Video Acceleration Library has been added to support hardware video decoding on Radeon Polaris cards

OnyxSoft: ZapperNG 1.2
ZapperNG by Stefan Blixth is an extended re-implementation of the MorphOS commodity Zapper by his former team fellow Adam Waldenberg. Unlike the original program, ZapperNG is also available for AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4 and AROS (the latter being a port by Eugene Sobolev). Now version 1.2 has been released.
The commodity modifies the ZipWindow() function of intuition.library, i.e. the behaviour of the "zoom" symbol in the upper right corner of a window. Instead of switching between two sizes of a window, it becomes extended to the full screen. Depending of the chosen parameter, the screen's title bar is either omitted or not. Further options enable a balanced scaling to all directions, avoiding the active window to put into front, defining a hotkey as alternative to clicking the zoom symbol, and cycling between windows by pressing Alt-Tab. AmigaOS 4: Tabellenkalkulation ignitionOS4 1.10, Update des OpenDocument-Plugins
Achim Pankalla releases ignition 1.10: the eighth update of the spreadsheet. He is responsible since he took over the maintenance of the package in 2014. In this version, some "small issues" have been fixed or added, among other things. All cell attributes are now properly saved and it is possible to print directly to a PDF file.
The changes in detail:
- Error when saving attributes fixed
- English and German Catalog now contains many keyboard shortcuts
- Requester can now also handle keyboard shortcuts
- Error in print routine corrected
- PDF printing now possible via special print unit
- Possible grimreaper at splash-screen fixed
- British English no longer leads to language configuration hint
- New function mode
- Other small adjustments/corrections
Also the ods-addon was reworked to support the new functions. The addon allows loading and saving tables in OpenDocument format, which is used in LibreOffice/OpenOffice Calc among others.

AmigaOS 4: Image viewer Videntium Picta 2.4
Juan Carlos 'Templario' Herran Martin has released version 2.4 of his Hollywood application "Videntium Picta". Additional to diverse standard image formats like jpg, png, gif, lbm, bmp, tiff and pcx, the programm also can play animations like anim, ham6, ham8, movisetter, yafam, gif and apng.
Furthermore Videntium Picta offers simple image editing functions like mirroring, rotating or changing the size and can take screenshots.
In view of the fact that recently version 9 of Hollywood has been released, Juan Carlos asks his users to donate some money for purchasing the coresponding upgrade. Mainly he wants to find out if there is suffcient demand and desire for a further development of his applications. If those 49 Euro will be succesfully financed he hold out the propect of further updates and games.

amigaXfer: Serial file transfer to the Amiga - without Amiga software
Roc Vallès' amigaXfer transfers single files or disk images via the serial cable to the Amiga. No additional software is required on the Amiga for the tool is using ther debugger included in the Kickstart-ROM for controlling the transfer from the main computer.
An exact description of how the tool works the author has given in his blog.
amigaXfer has been written in Python and uses the Wxwidgets system for the graphical user-interface. Complete Windows binaries can be found on Github. Users of different operating systems have to create an executable file for their own.

Besides its original language, Italian PDF magazine REV'n'GE ("Retro Emulator Vision and Game") is also available in English. The reviews of classic games compare their ports to different platforms available at that time.

'Lubricator' (Screenshot) written by Timm 'bifat' Mueller loads disk images from the World Wide Web and writes them on an Amiga disk using an Amiga with only 1 MB RAM and without harddrive. New in version 0.85:
- Supports downloads via https and ftp
- All downloads as well as extracting ADF, DMS, LHA, ZIP and Amiga Executables should now work
- The DMS extract programm was integrated into the tool, is faster and requires less memory. The external xdms programm and the Pipe-handler are no longer required for extracting DMS

Curiosity: DintWM - a "Tiling Window Manager" for Workbench
The principle of the Tiling Window Manager is mainly known in the Unix environment: In contrast to conventional interfaces, the individual windows do not overlap, instead they are arranged tile-like next to each other. With 'DintWM' such a window manager has now been implemented for AmigaOS for the first time.

Demoscene registered as inventory of intangible cultural heritage in Germany
Last Friday, the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs added 20 new entries to the list of "Intangible Cultural Heritage", including the demoscene. The scene is thus automatically also part of UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage. Lawsuit: separate motions by Hyperion and Amiga for a summary judgment (Update)
While a joint motion from Cloanto and Hyperion to the court in January suggested that a settlement was imminent and only (quote) "ancillary documents" were left to be dealt with, both parties now submitted individual motions for a summary judgment indicating that settlement talks failed
again.
The motion from Amiga Inc., Itec and Amino (formerly known as AmigaInc., Washington) asks for a partial summary judgment on two of their original complaints, both dealing with trademarks: The judge is asked to
issue an order declaring that Hyperion is not the rightful owner of any of the Amiga related trademarks it registered or applied for in the last
few years. The motion also lists all of the trademarks in question:
- USA: applications for "AmigaOne", "AmigaOS" and Boing Ball
- EU: registrations of "Amiga Forever", "AmigaOS" and "Workbench"
- Benelux: registrations of "AmigaOne", "Amiga", "Boing Ball", "Kickstart", "AmigaOS", "Amiga Forever" and "Workbench"
- Germany: registration of "Amiga"
- France, Italy, Spain and Poland: applications for or registrations of "Kickstart"
Since it is a motion for a partial summary, other issues raised by the Amiga parties in their original complaint - like the alleged breach of copyright, violations of the 2009 settlement etc. - would be reserved for an actual trial.
Hyperion's motion is for a complete summary judgment on all of the issues raised its opponents. The document discusses every single cause of action listed and argues why it should be dismissed. In conclusion, it requests that the judge issues a summary judgment (quote) "against all Plaintiffs on all counts".

Puzzle game: ArtPazz (AGA)
ArtPazz is puzzle game where the player has to piece together the tiles an image has been split into (video). Images are classic paintings. The game has been written with AMOS Professional for AGA Amigas and is free - you are able, though, to pay a voluntary price. (snx)

Event: Amiga 35 finally cancelled
The event "Flashback 20/20 feat. Amiga 35" in Hilversum, The Netherlands, that had been postponed before already, has been finally cancelled now.
Ticket purchasers will receive an e-mail to request a refund. This will also include the option to donate (part of) the sum towards the organisation for coping their expenses. (snx)

FreePascal: Docker container for Amiga development updated
Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow's Docker environment (amiga-news.de reported) for development of FreePascal applications for various Amiga systems has been updated and includes scripts now for compiling directly from the Docker, i.e. without VNC/Lazarus.
The latter does only work for standard Free Pascal programs, though, not for LCL applications. Besides, the lazarus version has been updated to the latest version 2.0.12 as well. (snx)

AMOS development: First public alpha of 'Amos Professional Unity'
'AMOS Professional Unity' written by Frédéric 'AmiDARK' Cordier is the second attempt of the author to add AGA support to the BASIC compiler AMOS Professional. According to the developer on amigaworld.net, he did achieve this goal by releasing AMOS Professional AGA, but at the expense of compatibility to older ardware and old data formats ("Banks").
And the author explained: "Due to requests to make Amos Professional handle SAGA graphics chipset, I had to restart things for a more flexible system. After 1 year of development with Amos Professional AGA, on Amos Professional source code I am now more "comfortable" with updating it and I fell more entrusted on what I can do (or not)."

Lubricator: Receiving disk images via HTTP and writing them on disk
'Lubricator' (screenshot) written by Timm 'bifat' Mueller loads disk images from the World Wide Web and writes them on an Amiga disk using an Amiga with only 1 MB RAM and without harddrive.

Dungeon Crawler: New "Black Dawn" episode, previous games available as download
Three months ago the expansion package for the Dungeon Crawler Black Dawn Rebirth, called "Black Down Rogue", was announced but now is supposed to be a separate game: The engine was completely rewritten and new graphics will be used. On Indie Retro News you can look at some screenshots.
All previously released games of the series, written in AMOS and BlitzBasic in the 90s, as well as the spin offs 'Parasite' and 'Parasite II' now can be downloaded from the website of the developer Timeslip ("pay what you want"). Three weeks ago, the last part of the series called 'Black Dawn Rebirth' already was made available.

Point'n Click adventure: Nippon Safes Inc. now Freeware
The Point'n Click adventure Nippon Safes Inc. released in 1992 now has been made available as Freeware by the developers. Disk images, scans of the manual as well as a file, probably containing a version meant for ScummVM, are available on scummvm.org/games.

Kipper2K replacement keyboard status
In October 2018 we reported about the plans of the US American shop and reseller "Amiga On The Lake" (AOTL) to pre-finance and then distribute the replacement keyboards developed by 'Kipper2K'. The versions for Amiga 500 and 1200 should be available until Christmas 2018.
In a status update now Jeffery Yoder has written that and why they did not succeed in delivering the keyboards until the end of 2020 to all those users who have reserved them in advance. The current plan is to accomplish that by the end of June of this year, 2021.

Modplayer: AmiModRadio 0.99992
AmiModRadio is "a program to automatically download, extract, and play modules from Aminet." Other websites like Haxor.fi, Modland and Modules.pl are supported as well. A rating function is also included. AmiModRadio is open source, the source code is available on SourceForge and BitBucket. If you want to report bugs then please use the official bugtracker. Any ideas for improving the program are welcome!
The latest version provides a German translation. Additionally, the the logic for ratings was updated and further reduced the number of calls to the Web server. The author fixed some discrepencies between the ratings functions and the Web server and modules are added to the user's local blacklist when rated too low.

7-Bit:SPI Master Bus software 1.0
The SPI bus is not only used on their Wicher turbo cards by 7-Bit for connecting devices like SD card readers (amiga-news.de reported), by the SPI Master Bus CP controller there is also a stand-alone solution directly connected to the Amiga 1200's clock port. Its software that includes an sdcard.device is now avaiulable in version 1.0. (snx)

Print magazine: Issue 129 of Amiga Future readable free of charge
German and english issue 129 (November/December 2017) of the print magazine "Amiga Future" is available free of charge now at the magazine's website. Encryption protocol: AmiSSL 4.8 (AmigaOS 3/4)
The open source encryption protocol AmiSSL has been updated to version 4.8 and is fully compatible to IBrowse 2.5.3.
Changes:
- Updated OpenSSL backend to full compatibility to latest OpenSSL 1.1.1j (16.02.2021) version, which brings security and bug fixes.
- Updated root certificates to latest Mozilla-based bundle provided by https://curl.se/docs/caextract.html.
- Fixed corrupted OS3 libamisslauto.a (object name was too long).
- Tweaked SDK examples and OpenSSL includes to be more compatible with vanilla VBCC and SAS/C compiler installations.
- Restored SAS/C support to AmiSSL autoopen link library code.
- Added native VBCC support to AmiSSL autoopen link library code.
- Added lib/autoinit_amissl_main.c to SDK to allow VBCC, SAS/C and GCC users to compile their own link library, if required.

Turn-based space stategy game: Imperium Terranum 2.811
For a while the source code of the turn-based space strategy game Imperium Terranum 2 is being ported from Pascal to C and adopted to graphic cards. In version 2.811 some minor bugs have been fixed:
- Wormhole-flights are now mouse-controlled - same/easier difficulty than with joystick.
- Playsound is now stereo - direction depends on mouse-position (as used to be in original game).
In this version the intro-sequence may crash when terminated early (via mousebutton).

AmigaOS 4: Updates to The Widow and Slot Machine Saga
At the beginning of February, Juan Carlos 'Templario' Herran Martin did remove all his software from his Morgue Soft Webseite but as he already announced he was going to keep on updating his projects.
Two days ago he released on OS4Depot an update to his point-and-click adventure "The Widow". He has added Polish translation and improved the game a little bit (Paranormal Experience, Slot Machine).
Already at the end of February he had released a new version of his slot machine WArMUP based on Hollywood:
Version 1.20 does not require any external Hollywood plugins and offers some minor improvements like animated coins or additional sounds.
According to the author on request by amiga-news.de, he currently is working on his picture viewer Videntium Picta.

FreePascal: Documentation for systems library units, support of MorphOS-SDK
Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow has "extended (and sometimes created) the documentation for all four Amiga systems library units (amunits, arosunits, morphunits, os4units) and the util units (ami-extra)" which is available in HTML and CHM format. Additionally he has also updated "the Free Pascal library units for MorphOS" and "created the documentation for these functions."

Cloanto: Amiga Forever and C64 Forever 9
Press release: March 10, 2021 - Cloanto released today version 9 of Amiga Forever
and C64 Forever, the official Commodore/Amiga preservation, emulation and support suites for Windows.
The new editions are the result of more than two years of development since the previous major version, which also saw the parallel release of numerous free updates to the previous version, and the development of Amiga Explorer 8 and Amiga Explorer 9 (now included in Amiga Forever 9 Plus Edition and Premium Edition).
Version 9 celebrates beautiful new visual features like Arcade mode (screenshot), Tile mode, light vs. dark options, and a first set of more colorful skin variants. Under the hood, hardware-accelerated technologies like Direct2D are used to provide a snappy experience. Powerful new column and tile field selection and sort options provide unprecedented control within the player interface, while a new property handler and an enhanced preview handler enable seamless content access via File Explorer and Windows Search.
New automation and title authoring features make it possible to automatically run a script or application on startup, e.g. to quickly invoke different features or games from a shared Amiga setup. This is envisioned to be only the beginning of new automation capabilities which are planned to be released over the next months.
Additional Amiga improvements include RDB disk image enhancements, while 8-bit features include new SID audio, drive and media options, and support for the MAX Machine and the C64 Magic Voice cartridge.
On the input front, shared Amiga and 8-bit improvements include the ability to use the player entirely with a game controller, and enhanced virtual buttons that can now simulate guest joystick events (e.g. autofire) in addition to keyboard events.
Hundreds of smaller new features and refinements also made it into these new versions. Windows too went through several new releases since the previous major release of Amiga Forever and C64 Forever, and the new code base provides better support for new features introduced in Windows 10 versions 1909, 2004 and 20H2.
Amiga Forever 9 is available now in three editions:
- Value Edition (downloadable installer)
- Plus Edition (downloadable installer with option to build DVD ISO image)
- Premium Edition (downloadable Plus Edition, plus boxed software and additional videos on 3 DVDs)
C64 Forever 9 is available now in three editions:
Both packages recognize and work with each other, with options to merge the different platforms into the same interface. Prices start from $9.95 (Value Edition, or special upgrade offers). (snx)
