Scenario-Editor for Dune 2 (Windows)
With the help of the "Dune 2 Scenario Editor" missions for the realtime strategy game Dune 2 can be created. In 2007 the first version of the Windows programm was released and in January 2015 it was slightly reworked. It also supports the Amiga-port and its file format.

Amiga-Emulator Uae4all2 removed from Google Play Store
The maintainer of the Android-port of the Amiga emulator Uae4all2 has been informed by the team of the Android-app-store "Google Play Store" that his application has been removed.
The message:
"This is a notification that your application, Uae4all2, with package ID pandora.uae4all.sdl, has been removed from the Google Play Store.
REASON FOR SUSPENSION: Violation of the intellectual property and impersonation or deceptive behavior provisions of the Content Policy. Please refer to the IP infringement and impersonation policy help article for more information.
- Your app and/or elements of its listing on Google Play, including title, description, logo(s), or promotional screenshots must not include unauthorized usage of protected works belonging to a third party.
- Your app icon and promotional screenshots must not contain images that appear confusingly similar to existing products.
This particular app has been disabled as a policy strike. If your developer account is still in good standing, you may revise and upload a policy compliant version of this application as a new package name.
This notification also serves as notice for other apps in your catalog. You can avoid further app suspensions by immediately ensuring that no other apps in your catalog are in violation of (but not limited to) the above policy. NXP will merge with Freescale

Audio-Player: SirenaPlayer 3.00 (AmigaOS 4/MorphOS)
Sirena Player is an audio player written with Hollywood for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS which can play FLAC-, MOD-, MP3-, M4A- and WAV-files. The programm requires certain Hollywood-plugins as well as the mpega.library.
Version 3.00 has been compiled with Hollywood 6 and provides some internal improvements.

AmigaOS 4: File manager Directory Opus 4.18.41
Jeff 'Xenic' Porter has released an update of the file manager Directory Opus 4 which fixes some minor bugs. Additionally, the programm interprets the "H"-bit just like the operating system predetermines it - until now Directory Opus used it as hidden bit.
Changes in version 4.18.41:
- Added missing arguments check in DopusRT to prevent a crash if DopusRT is started with no arguments
- Fixed access of freed memory when closing an asynchronous Read window. Fixed several potential memory leaks
- Added signal notification to asynchronous Read windows when quitting Dopus4 or returning with changes from ConfigOpus. Previously the asynchronous Read windows could be forcibly closed at users request and leave Read processes running with no window
- Fixed launching of asynchrouous Read processes and added checks for Ctrl-C to shut down those processes
- Fixed reopening of Dopus4 on front screen when returning from ConfigOpus changes if Dopus4 was initially started with "BEHINDWB" TOOLTYPE or "-B" CLI argument
- Eliminated a crash in the Dopus4 ANSIRead command
- Changed the "close foreign windows" requester to open on the Dopus4 screen when quitting Dopus4 from it's own screen
- Fixed copying of directories form archives opened in a lister
- Fixed some failures to unlock public screens after failed memory allocations or file access
- Updated "alien windows" requester text to match previously updated requester actions
- Added Czech catalogs and French catalog. Updated all catalogs. Program catalog definition file and translation files updated
- Changed "Hidden" bit in Protect requester to "Hold" bit for OS4. Eliminated hidden bit setting in ConfigOpus which activated hiding of files with the H bit set. The H bit is actually a hold bit in OS4 and indicates to AmigaDOS that the file should be added to the resident list if the P (pure) bit is also set
- Added popupmenu & xadmaster header files to sources so others can compile Dopus4 without hunting for missing includes
- Updated history files

Amiga-Emulator: FS-UAE 2.5.29dev
Frode Solheim's FS-UAE for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD is based on WinUAE and "includes an easy-to-use graphical configuration program which allows you to enjoy FS-UAE and Amiga emulation without writing configuration files." Since the last stable version released in March (2.4.1), so far only developer versions have been released - excepted a bug fix version for Linux.

Crowdfunding: Amiga movie "From Bedroom to Billions - The Amiga Years!"
While "Viva Amiga" has not been released yet, under the title link money is collected for another Amiga movie. The initiators already recorded "From Bedroom to Billions" which is a documentation about the British history of video games from 1979 till now. "The Amiga Years!" will be dedicated to the days of glory of this computer lasting 90 minutes.
The movie is supposed to be released in January 2016. For that project, already 14.133 out of 50.000 pounds have been donated.

Workbench enhancement: BetterWB 4.0
Similar to AIAB, AmiKit or AmigaSYS, BetterWB is a collection of Workbench enhancements for AmigaOS 3.1, which are useful but rather simple and therefore require low hardware configuration.
Changes in version 4.0:
- Rebooter has now a fast performing bootable ram option
- LockDevice is a command which between other things, changes the read and write status of a drive
- Icon.library has been updated to 46.4.408
- Fat95 has been updated to 3.18
- Dir now generates a wider and more clear display mode
- ConBuffer gives scrollbars to any CLI (configured by default for Zshell)
- A new commodity, PM, a cpu/process meter
- Datatypes.library 45.4 corrects several bugs and is a little bit faster than its previous counterpart
- DOSDrivers for Jaz and Zip drives are included. If you still have one of those magnetic dinosaurs ;)
- Reduced the memory footprint just another extra bit
- A few more minor fixes and tweaks

Preorder: New external floppy drive
Under the title link, at RetroAmi an external floppy drive developed by Sakura (producer of PCMCIA-SRAM-card for the Amiga 600/1200) can be ordered. The pictures of the drive show the non-painted prototype. The final, black Gehäuse case additionally will have included some minor changes.
The floppy drive is compatible to the external ports of all Amiga models but does not support "looping through". That means if you use other external drives of different producers, you can only use it as last drive.
The preordered model is based on a modified PC-drive but is "fully compatible with 880kB DD Amiga floppy disks". For financial reasons there will be not a HD-drive with modified 1,44-MB-PC mechanics, but the platine has been prepared for it. You can upgrade an Amiga-HD floppy drive for using HD-diskd (1,76 MB) on your own with a jumper.
As preorder, the floppy drive costs about 47 Euro (195 Złoty). Later the product will be more expensive. It will be delivered by the end of April.

AROS: Aminux 3
Aminux is a collection of Olaf Schönweiß' AROS/68k-distribution AROS Vision and the Amiga emulator FS-UAE, which is launched from an USB-stick based on the Linux distribution Mikroknoppix. An installation will be not necessary.
Aminux r3 changelog:
- Updated linux ground
- Updated to latest "stable" FS-UAE
- Updated to latest AROS Vision
- Created a 4 GB FAT32 extra partition (8 GB USB stick is required), so that people can install AmigaOS there or add ADFs
Users of bigger USB-sticks can change the size of the partition using GParted (included). A video (which was not tested by Olaf Schönweiß) shows, how to install Knoppix on harddrive.
Please note that due to download restrictions of DropBox, the archive can only be downloaded ten times a day.

AmigaOS 4: Port of spreadsheet ignition
In 2008, Axel Dörfler released the source code of his spreadsheet ignition. Now Achim Pankallas has ported it to OS4 and made available a first version which first of all is supposed to get all functions of the 68k-version. According to the author, currently the port still is in beta status.

Playable demo: Point'nClick adventure "The Secret of Middle City"
For the first time, GDG Entertainment has released a playable demo of its point'nclick adventure "The Secret of Middle City". The game has been announced again and again for 15 years, but the current developer Gianluca "g0blin" Girelli is the first one who released a demo which can be played.
It was develoed using Hollywood. The demo version is available for AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, Windows and OS X. A version for Linux is planned as well.

Computer Collection Vienna: Amiga-1000-Prototype Velvet / Oldest Kickstart
Under the title link, Stefan Egger has presented a prototype of an Amiga 1000 which is part of his collection, the Computer Collection Vienna. The Kickstart version of the board called "Velvet" is supposed to be the oldest known version; it is three months older than the known version 0.7.
Stefan Egger wrote on his website: "What is special about that machine? It only comes with 128k RAM and can be expanded by another 128k on front expansion port to a maximum of 256k. This expansion is known to exist! You surely heared about stories that Commodore did want to reduce the Memory of Amiga, but the Amiga Team did not want that. That is maybe why they ended up with a standard of 256k on the A1000, that was expandable to a maximum of 512k by an A1050 RAM Expansion module.
Another thing are the names: Daphne (later "Denise"), Portia (later "Paula") and Agnus. And Daphne had a IC number of AM4705A, the others have 8364 (Paula/Portia) and 8361 (NTSC Agnus), just like their later equivalents."

MorphOS: exFAT file system
Rupert Hausberger has ported the exFAT file system (Wikipedia) to MorphOS. It is not an adaption of the version of AmigaOS 4 (amiga-news.de reported), but a direct and completely native port.
Rupert Hausberger wrote: "Due to license restrictions, the version with write-support is not included as a binary-file. For testing and private use, you may compile the version with write-support by removing __READ_ONLY__ in the makefile. See the source-code distribution of this release."

P96-driver for OpenPCI
Under the title link André 'Ratte' Pfeiffer has released the trial version of an OpenPCI-based driver for Permedia2 graphic boards. It is written for users of a PCI-busboard (GRex, Prometheus or Mediator). A support of Amithlon has been announced.
If you have an accelerator board Cyberstorm PPC/MKIII or Blizzard PPC with a CyberVision-PPC or BVision-PPC graphic board using the latest firmware with GRex-support, then you can also use the P96-driver.

Hollywood 6.0: Epiphany available now
Press release: Three years after the release of Hollywood 5, Airsoft Softwair is proud to announce the immediate availability of Hollywood 6: Epiphany.
Hollywood 6 is a massive update with a myriad of new functions. The most important new feature is the complete abstraction of the core components display, audio and DOS. ADTWin is a programm which unter Windows can write Amiga disks (amiga-news.de reported) to use the content of ADF-files on real Amigas. Changes in version 1.2:
- Support for parallel port PCI cards
- Automatic deactivation of Windows' "warm polling" mechanism (which can disrupt ADTWin's write operation)
- Drag&Drop support
- Bug fix: With some floppy drives (e.g. MITSUMI D359T5) there was a problem when moving the read/write head too early after selecting the drive, resulting in corrupt disks, although no errors were reported

NES-remake: "Solomon's Key 2"
"hukka" has released an remake of the NES-game Solomon's Key 2 / Fire'n Ice for classic Amigas. The game has been written in assembly and should run on any PAL-Amiga.
You can play Solomon's key using keyboard or joystick. The second fire button can be used to access the ingame menu. Some features of the NES-game have been not implemented ('Castle' levels and other levels with lava floor/scrolling/moving enemies have been replaced with custom levels), but a level editor is included.

AmigaOS 4: 8-Bit-Emulator Atari++ 1.73
Atari++ emulates Atari's 8-Bit home computer as well as the games console Atari 5200. The port for AmigaOS-4 was written by Ventzislav 'drHirudo' Tzvetkov, supports AmigaInput and can be controlled using joysticks or analog controllers.
Changes:
- Added emulation support for the tape drive, and .CAS files loaded into the
tape. Raw audio files in the .WAV format are not supported by the emulator
directly, but two external programs "wav2cas" and "cas2wav" can convert
between them.
- Added an additional rendering mode for the X11 video system of Linux
machines. Instead of drawing the emulated screen on the display rectangle by
rectangle, the "xvideo" mode uses the xv extension of X11 to render into an
off-screen memory which is then merged into the screen by the video overlay
mechanis of the hardware. This rendering mode may create a smoother display
and may improve performance on lower end hardware, but is not necessarily
available everywhere.
- A complete manual of Os++, including a memory map, is now available as
download.
- Included the Os++ system disk, including disk-based utilities around Os++
including a Dos overlay manager that relocates Dos buffers behind the
cartridge, an RS232 handler, an updated version of DISKIO, a disk-based
tape handler, a menu based DUP and a lot of tools.

Cloanto confirms transfers of Commodore/Amiga copyrights
In the last few months, Cloanto started distributing Amiga System Software - the publisher traditionally refers to it as "Workbench" instead of "AmigaOS" - on CF cards, Floppy Disks and as a downloadable Workbench Disk Image Pack. Approached by Amiga-News, Cloanto's Michael Battilana confirmed that the company owns the copyrights for all works created by the Commodore/Amiga companies up to 1993.
The deal was finished in 2012, as Battilana states: "We already had licenses from some older agreements with various parties, including Gateway and Amiga Inc., which in part were exclusive. The transfer of these copyrights to Cloanto was then completed with new agreements a few years ago."
The combination of the multiple agreements makes Cloanto the rights holder of not just any Amiga related products and media, but also the system software, documentation, Commodore-owned publications, videos and advertisements for Commodore's various product lines.
As it turns out, back in 1997, ESCOM
had assigned all former Commodore/Amiga copyrights to Gateway - not just the Amiga-related ones - and they were handed over to every new IP owner since then. Only the "Commodore" trademarks (but not
any patents, nor any copyrights) were sold to Tulip Computers in 1997.
A look at the database of the US Copyright Office confirms Battilana's statements: The items in the list of titles are now assigned to Cloanto.
Note from the editor: While Cloanto's agreements, according to Battilana, cover everything created by Commodore/Amiga up to 1993, not all of
the copyrighted works are listed in the public database. Like most publishers, Commodore did not deposit everything with every new release. As the US Copyright Office explains, registration is voluntary, and not required for protection. Advantages that
come with registration include the availability to copyright owners of statutory damages and attorney's fees in case of court actions.
An overview of the ownership of the Amiga-related IP
Ownership of Amiga-related intellectual property became more fragmented
in the last few years. As far as we know, this is the current list of parties owning parts of it:
Amiga Inc. owns the domain name amiga.com as well as all remaining Amiga-related trademarks (partial list, PDF). They do have a license from
Cloanto for their activities on the BlackBerry platform, but no license for any other platforms.
Hyperion Entertainment, recently declared bankrupt, has a license to modify and distribute AmigaOS 3.1, an exlusive license for the AmigaOS and AmigaOne trademarks (limited for use with AmigaOS 4 or higher) and a non-exclusive license for the BoingBall trademark (limited for use with AmigaOS 4 or higher). Hyperion's license can only be transferred to a third party with Amiga Inc.'s consent.
Cloanto owns the Amiga Forever and Workbench trademarks and the copyrights to the Commodore/Amiga works as described above.
The status of AmigaOS 3.5/3.9
AmigaOS 3.5/3.9 were developed and distributed by Haage&Partner, under
license from Amiga. As far as we know, said license has expired by now (and
was even revoked prematurely in OS 3.9's case), meaning that there's no party holding the complete rights to these releases at the moment.
Individual modules that were part of OS 3.5 or 3.9 have been rereleased in the meantime as part of both Cloanto's Workbench 3.X distribution (included with Amiga Forever) and AmigaOS 4.
Small Updates for AmigaOS 3.1
In the latter half of the nineties, Heinz Wrobel and Olaf Barthel released several Updates for AmigaOS 3.1 via Amiga's website. These updates have been made available in Cloanto's download area a while ago. (cg)

AmigaOS 4: Atari-Emulator Hatari 1.8.0
An update has been released for the Atari-ST/STE/Falcon emulator Hatari. According to the developer, the emulation of the Atari ST and STE on an AmigaOne X1000 "works finde". The emulation of the Falcon requires Frameskip 5, "but the DSP sound is working good as seen on this video".
The changes are listed in the release notes.

A-EON acquires OctaMED Soundstudio
In a press release, A-EON has announced to acquire the soundtracker OctaMED Soundstudio as already mentioned on the AmiWest. The company purchased the source code and exclusive rights for the AmigaOS and Amiga-inspired operating systems.
The press release does not go into details concerning the development. On the AmiWest a port to AmigaOS 4 was held out in prospect.

MUI for AmigaOS: MUI4.0-2015R1 and MUI3.9-2015R1
The team of "MUI for AmigaOS" has released new versions of MUI 4.0 (AmigaOS 4 and AmigaOS 3.x) and MUI 3.9 (AmigaOS 3.x).
For MUI 3.9 this is a first public version of MUI4 for AmigaOS 3.x (after AmiKit 8) but it is also the last version of MUI 3.9 for AmigaOS 3.x. In future only MUI4 will be developed further.

AmiDARK: Bounty project canceled
The bounty project for releasing the game engine AmiDARK (amiga-news.de reported) was canceled because a donator did reverse his financial contribution and thus the minimum amount has not been achieved.
Before the source code was made available to the donators which proved some problems. After canceling the project, the donators have been informed by power2people.org via e-mail.

Hyperion declared bankrupt
According to the Belgian bankruptcy register faillissementsdossier.be, Hyperion has been declared bankrupt by a court in Brussels on January 27, 2015. There is no further information available about the proceedings at this point.
Hyperion was established in 1999 to port commercial games to smaller systems like AmigaOS and Linux. In 2001, the company became responsible for the further development of AmigaOS. According to our information, the last directors of Hyperion were Ben Hermans and Timothy DeGroote. (cg)

MorphOS: Nintendo-Emulator FCEU 1.6
Kelly Samel has released a new version of his MorphOS-port of FCE Ultra, which is an emulator of the Nintendo-Entertainment-Systems (NES). The author wrote about it: "FCEU currently has great compatibility, sound support, save ram and save state support."
Version 1.6 includes a new emulation core, which now works with the ROM-hack "Zelda: The Legend Of Link". You can get further information under the title link.

Workbench distribution: AmiKitReal 8.2
AmiKitReal is a version of the Workbench distribution AmiKit meant for real Amigas and now is available as version 8.2.

Issue 26 of the italian PDF magazine REV'n'GE ("Retro Emulator Vision and Game") has been translated into english and can be downloaded at the title link.

Doom-Engine: Odamex AGA
Odamex is a version of the Doom engine, which combines the features of Boom with some other ones: The widescreen format is supported and the mouse can be used for controlling it ("mouselook"). Additionally the player can jump.
Currently "NovaCoder" is working on an AGA-optimized port. Network and joypad support as well as background music while the game runs are still left out in the first public release.

Cloanto Releases Downloadable Workbench Disk Image Pack
Press release: As part of its Amiga Forever Classic Support series, Cloanto is making available the downloadable Floppy & Hard Disk Image Pack. The set makes it possible to boot and set up any Classic Amiga model (including the Amiga 1000, 3000 and 4000T) using a floppy drive emulator or after copying to suitable media (floppy disks, CompactFlash cards, etc.)
Included ADF files:
- Workbench 3.1 Floppy Disk Set (6 images)
- Workbench 2.1 Floppy Disk Set (5 images)

Amiga-Emulator: FS-UAE 2.4.3 for Linux
Frode Solheim's FS-UAE for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD is based on WinUAE "includes an easy-to-use graphical configuration program which allows you to enjoy FS-UAE and Amiga emulation without writing configuration files." The stable version 2.4.3 fixes a bug which occured with the Nvidia-driver under Linux. All other platforms as well as the latest developer versions are not affected.
