WHDLoad: New installers until 29.06.2019
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until June 29th, 2019:
- 2019-06-24 improved: The Blues Brothers (Titus) added jump with second/blue button, added CD32 pad controls, trainer improved (Info)
- 2019-06-24 fixed: Jim Power (Loriciel) corrected joystick/joypad automatic detection (Info)

Emulator: FS-UAE 3.0
After providing several beta versions, now Frode Solheim has released a "stable" version of his Amiga emulator FS-UAE. Ports are available for Windows, Mac OS X and several Linux and BSD versions. On his website Frode Solheim wrote: "I've already started the work on next development series. The biggest change is updated emulation core from WinUAE 4.2.1, which brings with it new features. But I will be looking at other improvements as well. If the stable series is to boring for you, stay tuned for v3.1.0dev." Detailed changes of version 3.0:
Changes in FS-UAE 3.0 (compared to 2.8):
- Fixed JIT direct access on modern Linux distributions.
- FS-UAE default is now to show a 692×540 image, not stretched to fill screen.
- Built-in configurations for many more game controllers.
- New option whdload_quit_key to gracefully quit slaves.
- Added more shaders (compiled/ported/written by guest.r and rsn8887).
- Updated emulation core from WinUAE 3300b2.
- Several new configuration options (see Changelog for details).
- Many more smaller fixes and updates (see Changelog for details).
Changes in FS-UAE Launcher 3.0 (compared to 2.8):
- Plugins can provide files for offline use (WHDLoad, JST, SKick, etc).
- Added support for .gz/.adz/.roz/.xz-compressed files.
- Support WHDLoad versions 18.4 and 18.5 (game database).
- Revert fullscreen_mode to default when upgrading from older versions.
- Use https for all more fs-uae.net and openretro.org communication.
- Support hd_requirements = xpkmaster.library.
- Fixed problem on Windows where devices were sometimes not detected.
- Make configurations list wider when window width is quite large.
- Try to use config from game database when launching with a WHDLoad archive.
- Extract WHDLoad arguments from .info file when loading a WHDLoad archive.
- Sync “unpublished” games from the online game database, option to show.
- Many bugfixes and smaller improvements (see Changelog for details).

Emulator: WinFellow 0.5.8 RC1
Release candiate 0.5.8 of the Amiga emulator WinFellow has been released.
New features
- support for RDB hardfiles was implemented; while creating a new hardfile from the WinFellow GUI still creates "plain" hardfiles, a Rigid Disk Block can be created using tools like HD Toolbox
- the default naming scheme for filesystem devices has been changed from DHx: to FSx: to avoid naming conflicts with existing RDB hardfiles
- a 64 bit build is now provided; the NSIS installer will install either the 32 or 64 bit version depending on the operating system that is used
Bug fixes
- improved handling of hardware interrupts and blitter delays; fixes freezes that could occur during installation of Workbench in earlier 0.5.x versions
- fix wrong selection of render function after return from menu when application did not write to bplcon0 every frame; fixes garbled graphics in a Legend cracktro when returning from menu
- replaced alternating patterns for unmapped memory with proper random numbers
- CLR reads before write; fixes loading of Outrun and a fast-mem test in Last Ninja 2
- improve delay caused by logging in screen-mode enumeration (could amount to many seconds with multiple screens)
- running in an environment with very slow graphics framerate, like a VM, could cause a deadlock; set wait time after event reset to avoid race condition
- fix an issue where screenshots would occasionally not be taken in Direct3D graphics mode; this may also have impacted the ability to use Amiga Forever's clipping editor
- fix an issue where applying a new model preset would leave multiple blitter radio buttons selected

Hollywood: PDF-Plugin Polybios 1.1
Press release: Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to present a major update for one of the most popular plugins for Hollywood: Polybios. This plugin can be used to create and view PDF documents from Hollywood scripts and contains the most advanced PDF rendering engine available on Amiga systems.
Version 1.1 is a major update which adds support for lots of functionality required by people who would like to write a PDF viewer with Polybios. It is now possible to get text, bookmarks, and links from PDF pages. It is also possible to search PDF pages for a given string and it is also possible to get the position of text inside PDF pages (needed for implementing highlighting). Finally, it's also possible to get metadata from PDF pages. On top of that, there are also some important bug fixes.

amiga-news.de is looking for a server administrator and a PHP developer
After more than 20 years, amiga-news.de's PHP developer and server administrator will be leaving the team in late summer. For maintaining and developing the server and our custom PHP applications, we are thus looking for a server administrator and a PHP developer. Like all other positions in the amiga-news.de team, both jobs are unpaid voluntary work.
Server administrator
The server administrator should have experience in setting up and maintaining Linux systems, in detecting potential attacks, creating and restoring backups, system optimisation and both bash and PHP scripting for automating various tasks.
Keywords describing the software we're running on a vServer located in Germany:
- Debian 9 (systemd)
- shell access (no Plesk or anything like that)
- Apache2, Lets Encrypt, mariadb, php-fpm, logrotate (privacy protection), cron
The server administrator can join the team right now or take over in late summer.
PHP developer
The PHP developer should be familiar with PHP 7.3+ without ORM or frameworks, SQL for MariaDB, Composer, Phing, PHPUnit and Behat.
PHP development needs to be taken over in late summer.

Bootdisk creator: A911USBCopy 1.4 for the Amiga911 Maker
Using the Amiga911 Maker you can create bootdisks under AmigaOS 3.0/3.1 which can contain a lot of tools thanks to LZX or XPK. The Amiga which is to boot should be equipped with at least 1 MB Fast-RAM, recommended are 2 MB.
Since some of the files included in the archive of ANAIIS 1.18 do not have the rwed protection bits, some problems occured if this USB-stack should be added to the bootdisk. Version 1.4 of A911USBCopy fixed this issue.
