Point'n Click Adventure: La Storia Ancestrale
La Storia Ancestrale is a series of four Italian point'n click adventures, which is based on the comic series of the same name. The commercial release of the games, originally planned for the year 1994, was evidently neglected because of the collapsing market. The author is now making available the four titles for free download. (cg) (Translation: cad)

AROS for AmigaOS: AfA 4.00 Final Beta1
Bernd Rösch is making available a final beta version of AROS for AmigaOS (AfA), a port of individual AROS components to AmigaOS 3.9. The author asks for feedback in case certain applications do not get along with the thicker window borders, then, in the final version, these programs will already be entered in a blacklist and will therefore continue to be provided with the old, thinner window borders.

Features of AfA 4.00 Final beta 1:
  • Visualprefs and Birdie or AFA-skin can be selected via AFA_Prefs and adapted Startup-Sequence. For this, refer to the Readme at all costs for how you must change the startup-sequence (In Amikit 1.4, this is already done)
  • OS4/PNG icons can be scaled in real time, thanks to high-grade scale code by Thilo Köhler. On a classic (060), OS4 Mason icons with a size of 30 pixels can be displayed faster than in original size.
  • In getdiskobject and dupdiskopbject, added tags IA_Width, IA_Height for scaling
  • Realtime skin system, which can switch skins without closing and opening screen, arbitrary border sizes also possible at the same time (screenshot)
  • A blacklist in which you can enter names of programs which do not get along with larger window borders, then, the standard border size of AmigaOS is assigned to these
  • Many configurable realtime parameters, like 3 different window border lines, window title size, size gadget size
  • The user can change the settings preset by the skin designer via GUI
  • Window title font selectable independent of the window font configured in AmigaOS
  • Position of the text in the window title and shadows with configurable depth selectable
  • The skins consist of multiple pictures for the screen title and all parts of the window title like top, left, bottom and right border and for the foreground and background for the vertical and horizontal scroll bar
  • 7 skins by Ken Lester now usable (screenshot)

Ralf Steines (ANF)

Back to the Roots V2.41 - Patch Level 2
Below, Ralf Steines summarizes the recent developments at Back to the Roots:

Fred Fish Memorial Archive:

Now two weeks have passed since we opened our tribute page to Fred Fish, which went a successfull burn-in-test for our new server: During the last 2 weeks our main server delivered 25.000 CD images, most of them Fred Fish CDs!

The memorial archive grew to 3 times its initial size, thanks to the numerous people who contributed missing material! There's still quite some stuff missing, so please check your collections and consider contributing, especially the Frozen Fish and the Geek Gadget Snapshot CDs. Thanks!

Geek Gadgets FTP Mirror:

Since we mirrored ftp.ninemoons.com daily, to 26.Aug.2004 when it went down we have the latest copy of it online, which we consider the master site from now on.

We will exctend it with any snapshots and improved versions we could get hold of to at least provide an up to date archive of this (currently?) sleeping project. We will happily give anyone interested to continue and maintain it full control over it.

Geek Gadgets Reloaded:

Since the FTP is only a part of the project we digged out a copy of the Geek Gadgets master site, originally hosted at www.geekgadgets.org.

We started reconstructing and updating the master site of it. The site got a handy subdomain and all missing package documents will be added with time. We call this preservation side project Geek Gadgets Reloaded and will happily handle control over to a new maintainer.

Amigascne.org full mirror:

We finally finished a years old plan to have a fullmirror of the huge amigascne.org archive online on our FTP. Due to storage space limits we only had a partial mirror, which we fixed now, so we now have an official full mirror. Big thanks go to Cygnus^Amigascne for being such an easy guy.

Enjoy the enormous collection of about 10GB of Amiga scene output. Even if you're used to browse huge archives you will surely get lost once you dive in there!

Faces of Mars Archive:

Another years old plan we already started long ago finally gets realised: An online version of the Faces of Mars disk series and FreeCDs offering all releases for download at no cost.

This project is still work in process, but since most FreeCDs are already online, we decided to release it, so you may all help filling the gaps. We still have no FOM disk above #336, so please check your PD CDs for FOM disks 337-500+ to finish the collection. Thanks.

Amidemos Master Site:

While we were updating our FTP we stumbled across the FTP mirror of robotriot's amidemos.org project, a collection of Amiga demos transcoded to DIVX / AVI video format.

We updated our mirror from the scene.org archive but noticed that quite some videos were missing. So we digged in backup copies until we recreated most of the collection, only Kah835gb by Madwizards and Raybong by Loveboat are missing. If you have any of these videos from amidemos collection then please upload it to our anon upload ftp so we can finish the new Amidemos Master Site. Thanks!

FlatDisk Modules FTP:

The Flatdisk Modules Archive (FDMA) by FlatRich of FlatDisk Softworks is a collection of over 5600 mods, collected in the years 1992-1999. We host this archive since a while, including per collection year ModRadio channels. We added it now to our FTP server too, offering you a convenient way for mass downloading it.

Please enjoy, yours BTTR team!

Dimitris Panokostas (ANF)

Event: Amigahellas at DTE 2007
Dimitris Panokostas writes: Amigahellas, the Greek Amiga community, was present at the greatest Greek technological exhibition D.T.E. 2007 (Digital Technology Expo), in charge of the "computer history" stand.

With the valuable help from the organizing company, we managed to give the opportunity to both young and older visitors to meet and use computers from the past. Visitors had the chance to (re)live the experience of using computers like the Philips Videopac, Commodore PET 8032SK, Commodore Plus-4, C64-C, C128-D, Amstrad CPC 464, Amiga 500, 600 and 1200, Jupiter Ace, Acorn Electron, Timex Sinclair, Philips MSX among others.

It wasn't only about the past though: there also was an µA1 running the latest version of AmigaOS 4, as well as the latest version of AROS Live-CD and AmiKit 1.4 running on PC laptops.

The website dte.amigahellas.gr was set-up to host the photos and video from the event, so that those who couldn't make it there can have a glimpse of what happened. And if you feel like it, we'd be happy to receive any comments, which you can send using the Contact form.

We would like to thank the organizing company again, who helped into making this possible, all the visitors who had fun with us and all the people who gave their best to make this event an unforgettable experience indeed.

Finally, we'd like to wish... many happy returns! (snx)

Further development of TLSFMem as memtlsf
The further development of TLSFMem will by done by Bernd Roesch. He get the permission from Chris Hodges to reassemble the executable. If Chris don't changes his opinion, Bernd will start with the workaround of TLSFMem at December. A Download link will by added until it is available. German writen statment from Bernd Roesch.
