WWW-Browser: Path Version 1.0
Path-Amiga is an attempt to build a new Internet browser from the ground up. The project began in the second half of the year 2001 (as amiga-news.de reported) and slowly it began to take concrete form. With this version HTML support has been started, which accounts for the version leap to 1.0. The support is still very primitive, so a reasonable websurfing experience is hardly possible. This situation will improve with each successive release.

  • Requirements:

    Hardware:
An Amiga with a 68k processor or a computer which can emulate such.

    Software:
    Amiga OS 3.5 or higher

  • Features:

    • ReAction GUI
    • Minimal HTML support
    • Clipboard support
    • Supports DOS data
    • Supports HTTP 1.1
    • Graphic buttons
    • Selection windows for the changing of symbol text, colors, GUI.
    • Graphic printing functions
    • German and English localizations
    • Protection against pipe security holes

  • Known deficiencies:

    • The HTML display still has some problems. Please be patient, it's the author's first try...
    • When the author tested an earlier version of Path under Amithlon, it bogged down occasionally. But one Amithlon user has reported that Path works correctly for him.
    • When printing, instead of a background a very light gray tone appears. The author has no clue what is causing that.

News from Paul Burkey's "Sneech"
Paul Burkey writes on his Sneech-homepage: If you've been to this page before, you may have noticed the Sneech page has now been redesigned and brought into my current game development style. I've recently been working on various small scale game projects including two puzzle games called BoXiKoN and WordOMatic. These games marked a return to independent game development as well as a first entry to Windows and Pocket PC game development. I had hoped to be working on Sneech quite some time ago but the project has been pushed back so many times. I still don't have a clear timeline for Sneech development because I have so many other development commitments but I am able to clear up some details of a future for Sneech.

My first aim is to recreate the Classic Sneech game almost exactly as it was on the Amiga 10 years ago. There will of course be some obvious changes, the graphics will be redrawn in True Colour (16bit/32bit) and the resolution will be doubled to 640x480 (Modern Retro Size!). There will undoubtedly be other changes but I want to try and create a Sneech game that is as faithful to the original as possible. I will also be developing this game for Pocket PC and I expect mobile phone versions also, I'm particularly interested in SmartPhone and Symbian based phones. The aim of this project is to create the ultimate retro style Snake Game across many platforms. Sneech will be available for Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Pocket PC and Linux and any other platforms I can get my hands on!

Sneech 2 is still planned and will include many changes to the original game including Network mode and (optional) 3D/OpenGL mode. Other changes will include: Variable size game arenas, New CPU players with advanced AI, Up to 16 Worms in each game, New objects such as bridges and tunnels, New bonus items and much more. Development of Sneech 2 will not start until the Sneech remake is completed so this is all way off at the moment. (nba) (Translation: nba)

e.p.i.c.: Puzzle game BoXiKoN finished for MorphOS
The addictive puzzle game BoXiKoN from e.p.i.c. interactive has been finished for MorphOS. Originally developed for the Amiga computer this game has become very popular on other desktop and handheld platforms including Macintosh, PocketPC and Windows.

BoXiKoN is a fun and addictive new puzzle game of strategy and logic. The game belongs to the family of shape games but BoXiKoN really is quite different. There is a large emphasis on planning, organization and selection and less on arcade style quick reactions. You can find out more on BoXiKoN in the projects section of the e.p.i.c. homepage (see title link). (ps)

TV-cards Software: AmithlonTV Beta 262 with OpenPCI Support
Guido Mersmann has released Beta-Version 262 of the TV cards drivers software AmithlonTV with minor updates and bugfixes.

What's new:

  • BUGFIX:
The auto full screen mode at TVWatch startup caused a system crash.
  • CHANGED:
The old tvtest utility is gone! TVCardDump is taking over from now!
  • FEATURE:
Activated the OpenPCI support for the public. Don't blame me if the stuff is slow or just crashing. The OpenPCI support is testet and working fine. The driver may not work correct due the endian trouble.
