Overview: Linux for Sam and A1222-Plus boards With our ongoing coverage of new Linux kernels for the AmigaOne X1000 and X5000 models (amiga-news.de reported), the availability of the A1222 Plus, as well as the Sam460LE boards, raises the question of how Linux support will look here. Sam boards As Amiga Linux expert Christian 'xeno74' Zigotzky explains to us, the kernels for the X1000 and X5000 cannot be used for the Sam boards. The responsible developer Julian Margetson, who built, tested, published and offered support for these Linux kernels for the Sam, had to stop working on them for personal reasons, so someone is currently being sought to take over this task. However, there are still working Linux downloads available for the Sam boards. A1222 Plus The Debian developers have removed the PowerPC SPE platform so that there will be no more Linux developments for the A1222. The reason for this was the deletion as a target platform in version 9 of the vcc compiler, which was already obsolete in version 8.The Debian developers have removed the PowerPC SPE platform so that there will be no more Linux developments for the A1222. The reason for this was the deletion as a target platform in version 9 of the vcc compiler, which was already obsolete in version 8. However, all kernels and images remain available on the Tabor Linux download page. As Christian explains, Debian PowerPC-SPE works very well on the Tabor board (screenshot). If you would like to test Debian on the A1222 Plus, you will find Linux Guide. The links to the latest kernel and to the PowerPC-SPE version of the Arctic Fox browser:
