Preview video: Amikit X ("A.L.I.C.E") launches Linux applications
A preview video shows the forthcoming version X of the emulator distribution Amikit, which is suppposed to be used in A-EONs announced Laptop A.L.I.C.E. ("A Laptop Incorporating A Classic Experience"). One of the important new features of Amikit will be launching Linux applications out of the emulated AmigaOS 3 - the video demonstrates this using the example of Firefox and the video player VLC.
In the video in each case one Linux application is launched, used and quitted without changing to AmigaOS or to another Linux application in the meantime. This demonstrates one of the substantial problems such a emulation have: For example the windows of Firefox or VLC would vanish behind the Amiga emulation running in full screen mode if you click on the Workbench and you can only change back to the Linux program by using the keyboard shortcut ALT-TAB.
