Event: Video about MorphOS 3.0 at Alchimie 2011 (Update)
At the this year's Alchimie the still unpublished MorphOS 3.0 was presented. According to the French explanations of a video (127 MB) of the event, the update will include the following features:
- Support of Apple PowerBook G4 (models 5.6 to 5.9)
- Touchpad and gestures
- Special keys
- Support of different screens (15", 17" and other)
- Cardbus connection (PCMCIA)
- Airport driver (via Cardbus)
- monitoring of the sensors (temperature etc.)
- 3D-driver for Radeon 9700 in the PowerBook
- Power management
- AGP acceleration on supported platforms (Macs)
- WLAN-driver (Atheros 5000), integrated in TCP/IP-stack
- WPA/WPA2-WLAN-encryption (in cooperation with AROS-developers)
- SATA and SCSI driver (Symbios) for PowerMac G4
- Faster 3D-driver inclusive R300-based graphic boards (Radeon 9500 to 9800)
- Integration of Firewire-stack Helios
- Improved system components:
- Ambient: Transparent panel, plugins, video thumbnails, etc.
- MUI: Improved deactivation effect, rendering of parts of activer objects
- Multiview: New features and supported formats
- HDConfig and mount.library: Improved handling of Mac partitions
- New applications:
- CD/DVD burning programm
- New PDF viewer
- Modern text editor
- MagicBeacon: Visual notification (new eMails, finished download etc.)
- Package manager Grunch
- File systems: NTFS3G, SMBFS (64 Bit), SSHFS (transparent SFTP), ICE File System, etc.
- Cairo, Pixman and Fontconfig included in the system

As Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly, speaker of the presentation, clarifies, he was referring to MorphOS 3.x in a broader way, i.e. it's not guaranteed all features mentioned will make it into the 3.0 release. (snx) (Translation: dr)
