IBrowse developer addressing the web browser's future
On the IBrowse mailing list, Oliver Roberts from the IBrowse development team replies to inquiries about the browser's future: The initial plan was to develop a new custom HTML engine for IBrowse 3.0 - but given the dramatically shrinking size of the community, that doesn't look like a viable option these days according to Roberts.

One more time Roberts points out that Stefan Burstroem, the owner of the IBrowse rights, is the main problem hampering IBrowse's evolution. The development team has made several suggestions regarding the distribution of the program - which is currently not available for purchase - but Burstroem didn't make any decisions so far. According to Roberts, a lot of work went into IBrowse 2.5 which is pretty much finished and would be a free update for existing customers but can't be released without Burstroems "cooperation" either.

Roberts does want to release IBrowse 2.5, because "it would be a shame if all the work would go to waste". As far as version 3.0 is concerned, Roberts says he wouldn't expect it in the "foreseeable future". (cg) (Translation: cg)
