Audio-Player: AmigaAMP 2.18, inclusive AmigaOS 4-Engine
Thomas Wenzel has published a new version of his Audio-Player AmigaAMP. The distribution has been divided to the base packet (AmigaAMP.lha) and several archives for the engines. The base packet now works with mpega.library and sndfile.library. The so called Decoding Engines add additional functions, e.g. high decoding quality, a graphical equalizer (currently only for MP2/MP3) and accurate analyzer.
Currently there are engines for the following architectures:
- m68k-amigaos - Classic AmigaOS 3.x
It is not meant for use in original 68k Amigas but for emulators like WinUAE / Amiga Forever
- ppc-powerup - AmigaOS 3.x with PowerUP or MorphOS
This has been the first implementation. It works directly over ppc.library calls from AmigaAMP and therefore is called 'internal'.
- ppc-warpup - AmigaOS 3.x with WarpUP
Technically seen it is a seperate executable which runs as normal AmigaOS Task and behaves like a Plugin. Therefore it is called 'external', just like the 68k and OS4 version, too.
- ppc-amigaos - AmigaOS 4 final
Works just like the WarpUP and 68k versions but was specially translated for OS4. This is the first public version and may still contain bugs. But all beta testers have had no serious problems anymore. There were few crashes but without obvious reasons.
If anybody can reproduce bugs or crahes then the author can make available the special debug version. A GrimReaper-Log inclusive Stack Trace of this debug version then should be sufficient to specify the problem.
