27.May.2006 Philippe Bourdin (ANF) |
Daytime server set up Many users of classic Amigas still work with Genesis (the AmigaOS 3.5/3.9 TCP/IP stack) that offers a builtin function for time synchronization via daytime. To close this gap decided Philippe Bourdin to program a daytime server and to make it available to the public via time.PAB-Software.de (run by: PAB Software & Design). Separate software for time synchronization is not needed anymore, then. The daytime server runs always with the current MEZ/MESZ and can therefore be used in all Central European countries. Manual corrections for summer/winter time become redundant as Genesis synchronizes the time when going online. Faultless functioning and permanent availability can't be guaranteed, though; but the source code is available so anybody may send corrections or run his own daytime server in the own time zone.
