Intel: Itanium Set in May Intel plans the release of the first batch Itanium chips for the end of this month. It is expected that two or three versions of this chip will arrive. One with 733 Mhz and a 800-Mhz version with 2 MB cache. A 800-Mhz version with 4 MB cache is said to come, too. Amiga should now mention whether an Itanium compatible translator (VP) is planned. Itanium chips are 64Bit processors that can among other things manage 32 GB memory. Enough for complete websites or the content of big harddrives. IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Dell and other big computer distributors will soon present computers with 2, 4 and even with 16 processors that for the first time will have the 64 bit Itanium chip.
