Heise: Microsoft Fires Contra Open Source «How does the evil come to earth? With Open Source, if one wants to believe Microsoft's chief for Windows, Jim Allchin. Open Source could smother each and every innovation; it "destroys intellectual property", said Allchin, and politicians would have to recognize this danger. Open source would be the death of any inducement to invest in research and development. Allchin "cannot imagine anything more worse for the software business". Withal he equates open source like the free operating system Linux with music exchange services á la Napster - an argument which immediately has been intensely offended by the open source community.» Complete article under the title link (German). Does somebody suggest business competition facing him? Supposedly yes. I wonder what you think about that. Personally I see great chances in open source to realize great projects. The Internet is best evidence for that and Linux meantime has got a huge community of rooters. [News message: 17.
