Motorola COLDFIRE® Processor News As the manufacturer was criticized continuously by the current 68k users because the currently available COLDFIRE® processor has neither FPU nor (sufficiently 68k compatible) MMU, the engineering team has designed a new ColdFire (4e) which contains both FPU and MMU and is supposed to replace the 68k generation. Motorola wants to take this step to "untie" their current customers from the (apparently still sold in huge amounts) 68k processors. The soon to be released, ABSOLUTELY 68k compatible ColdFire 4e is supposed to take their place and replace the old processor family in future. Here you'll find further details on the COLDFIRE4® processor. Suplement: More links on this subjects: Technical description Coldfire4e Coldfire Roadmap [News message: 26.
