Sun announces Java 2 for Linux
"Sun has just announced they will offer an own Linux version of the Java 2 Platform,
Standard Edition (J2SE). So far, official statements said that Sun supports the Blackdown
Porting Team in its efforts in a port to the free operating system. The driving force
behind this change of mind is probably the company Inprise, which plans to add the J2SE
to their JBuilder announced for the beginning of the next year, and added manpower to
the port. Starting immediately, a preview version (Release Candidate 1) can be
downloaded from Suns developer site (free registration required)."
