PNG and Amiga The book "PNG - The Definite Guide", by Greg Roelofs, O'Reilly, ISBN 1-56592-542-4, mentions the Amiga positively for a change: Especially considering PNG, it is very easy to support new file formats in Amiga browsers by using Datatypes... to briefly cite the book (p.36): "On the Amiga, it is ubiquitous, thanks to a technological marvel, known as datatypes, (a kind of super-DLL that, among other things, provides generic image support); but under operating systems like BeOS or Atari TOS, it is virtually nonexistent." Of course this leads to Amiga WWW browsers and a collection of Amiga tools and applications get very good comments (some from myself, too ;) The book is also very open towards other alternative platforms (Acorn, BeOS, Macintosh, NextStep, OS/2). Bottom line: worth reading. (ps) [News message: 01. Dec. 1999, 08:00] [Comments: 0] [Send via e-mail] [Print version] [ASCII version] | ||
