PC-Welt: Transmeta unveiled: Patent for cheap CPU PC-Welt writes: The mysterious company Transmeta, having Linux developer Linus Thorvalds on their payroll, has filed a patent for a processor emulating an Intel chip. As US news service CNet reports, it is a combination of CPU and software behaving like a X86 CPU. The software translates Pentium commands in a way that the chip can parse them. The Patent is available online. (ps) [News message: 01. Oct. 1999, 08:00] [Comments: 0] [Send via e-mail] [Print version] [ASCII version] | ||
