Too late we discovered a security hole in the script for our webboard, which we have to

The board has been hacked, and a malicious message left behind. Every time again when
I read about such occurences, I cannot help but ask myself what motivates a Cracker to enjoy
in such 'success', while he could use his knowledge to much more positive ends. Is the
intention to be listed somewhere?
Or is the intention to show security holes? I could consider this positive, of course if
no damage is done. May that as it might, it will probably always remain a mystery for me.
