Press release After a long planning stage it's finally done. This year, on August,17th & 18th, there'll be the first computers and consoles retro fair that takes place in Northern Germany: "Spielkonsolen und Heimcomputer: Eine Retro-Spektive!"
The fair "Spielkonsolen und Heimcomputer: Eine Retro-Spektive" lets you experience 30 years of games consoles and computers. Travel through time with this exhibition that is built up in chronological order. Beginning with Pong, the classic tennis, Space Invaders and arcades moving to the 8bit- and the 32bit era of the home computers and from there to current consoles of well-known producers.
Experience the development and history of today's top-selling industry in the retrospective fair and ptry your skills at the numerous ready-to-play devices.
Everything from Pong to X-Box is shown, from Atari to Sony. More than 30 years of computers and consoles history.
The event takes place in Schneiderkrug, in the heart of the Oldenburger Münsterland just next to the B69 / B72 and only some minutes away from the A1 (exit Cloppenburg).
The entrance is free, and to make it worth the journey it's the same weekend when Northern Germany's biggest annual fair takes place - comparable to the Münchner Oktoberfest or the Cannstatter Wasn -, the Stoppelmarkt in Vechta. (snx) (Translation: wk)

MorphOS: Update of three Reggae classes
Grzegorz 'Krashan' Kraszewski has published updates of the classes winicon.demuxer, bmp.decoder and bmp.demuxer for Reggae which is his multimedia library for MorphOS.
The use of the transparency of 32 bit pictograms and the recognition routines for Windows icons were improved. By fixing the last mentioned one it will not happen any longer that files which start with many zero bytes are recognized as the ICO format.

Amiga Inc.: "Amiga Inc. Washington still existing"
In the course of the judical arguement between Amiga Inc. and Hyperion it has been revealed that some trademarks have not been transferred officially to Amiga Inc. (Delaware, AID) yet (amiga-news.de reported). Also in this context activities by Amiga Inc. (Washington, AIW) were mentioned, even the company was closed on September the 30th, 2004.
Meanwhile AID has clarified (PDF, 69 KB) that according to US laws a company closed by authorirties keeps on existing for another five years to remove or fix the issues lead to closure and can be resurrected after fixation of theses issues. Alternatively that time may be used to maintain the liquidation of the company.
According the trademarks AID emphasizes (PDF 1, 651 KB; PDF 2, 443 KB), that their state is meanwhile set to "ready for release" and were now transferred to AID. [editors note: After ("Publication for Opposition") there is a 30 day time frame to appeal against the registration or to apply for a prolongation of the appealing time.]
The aforementioned information is available for everyone online via the Trademark Applications and Registrations Retrieval (TARR) of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, cmp. the Amiga entries 78940417, 78940426, 78940434, 78942544 and 78942551. The latest change was on July the 27th. (snx) (Translation: ub)

MorphOS: DIL 1.31
With DIL ("Device Intervention Layer") Rupert Hausberger has published a system for MorphOS with which you can manipulate, encode or control data streams (screenshot). The news in version 1.31 are available in the changelog.
DIL adds new, virtual dirves to the system which are a copy of a real existing drive (or device). If a application tries to access such a virtual device the data streams will be manipulated in the way the user want to and only then they will be taken to the real application or drive.

AmigaOS 4: bzip2 1.0.4 and AmiDVD 1.31
For AmigaOS 4, new versions of the file compression program bzip2 as well as the CD/DVD-burning program AmiDVD were released by Jörg Strohmayer.
bzip2 1.0.4
Different from the previous AmigaOS 4 ports of the compression program, this version uses a shared library of AmigaOS instead of a static link library. The July 2007 update of the operating system is required.
AmiDVD 1.31
The current version from July 24 likewise requires the AmigaOS 4 July Update. In addition to an error circumvention for SFS, which should allow the creation of image files > 2 GB again, the directory view was partitioned into two list views for memory capacity reasons. Furthermore, the writing speed can now be determined for drives that do not support the "Get Performance" command as well.
