MorphOS: Energy.sbar displays status of battery on laptops
The screenbar-plugin Enrergy.sbar shows the status of the battery as graphic which includes remaining battery level, state of charge, battery capacity as well as the current charging rate. The plugin has to be copied to SYS:Classes/Screenbar/.

Emulator: FPSE 0.10.4
Version 0.10.4 of the "Free Play Station Emulator" (FPSE) was published for AmigaOS, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS/x86. Additional to minor bug fixes and improvements, the Warp3D-plugin for AROS was ported and reworked.

ACube Systems: RadeonHD-driver for Sam460-boards (update)
After A-EON Technology has secured the exclusive rights to the RadeonHD graphic boards drivers for AmigaOS 4, now under the title link ACube Systems has informed that the company will pay the license fee if a Sam460-boards or the complete system AmigaOne 500 will be purchased.
Customers who have already bought an AmigaOne 500 will be contacted in the next days. They will get the driver for free as well.

In a new comment ACube explained that existing owners of a Sam460 "can order the new driver from A-eon." Obviously only existing owners of an AmigaOne 500 will get a license for free.

AmigaOS 4: A-EON Technology secures RadeonHD driver support
According to A-EON Technology under the title link, it has signed a new development agreement with premier AmigaOS graphics specialist Hans de Ruiter which ensures the future compatibility of AmigaOS 4 with the latest RadeonHD graphics cards.
This new driver will support the RV5x0 to RV7x0-chipsets (e.g X1950, HD4000) as well as HD5000-, HD6000- and the current HD7000-graphic boards.
For purchasers of an AmigaOne-X1000 the drivers are for free. Customers of ACube Systems can buy them for 28,85 £ (about 37 Euro). According to A-EON the HD5000- and HD6000-boards will be supported at the same level like the HD4000-boards.

EmuTOS: Atari-ST-compatible OS for Amiga
EmuTOS is a GEMDOS (in German)-compatible operating system for Atari-ST-computers which now also was ported for the Amiga. EmuTOS is available as Kickstart-replacement and with it you can launch Atari programs which do not access to ST-hardware.

MorphOS: Tutorial for mounting ADF-files (Polish)
Under the title link Grzegorz 'krashan' Kraszewski has published an illustrated tutorial for mounting Amiga-disk-images (ADF-files) under MorphOS. This is available in Polish but the automated translation into English is easily legible.

AROS: Icaros Desktop 1.4.3
For his AROS-distribution Icaros Desktop, Paolo Besser has published a minor update which fixes problems with the developers programs and aditionally installs new system files.
The WildMidi.library, the MP3-player and LoView were updated as well. Please note that - if you use the light version of the distribution and have limited memory space - that with this update about 120 MB of developer software will be installed.

Web-Browser NetSurf 2.9
After the release for AmigaOS 4 version 2.9 of the fast browser NetSurf now is also available for AmigaOS 3.x thanks to Artur Jarosik.
You can now save websites as PNG graphic files and new search engines were added.

AmigaOS 4: X11-environment AmiCygnix 1.1
With Edgar Schwan's X11-environment AmiCygnix (screenshots: 1,

it is possible to launch several Unix applications under AmigaOS. Most important changes in version 1.1:
- Support of programs compiled for GTK+ 2.24 and GTK+ 3.x.
- A new (experimental) display driver is included, which opens a X11 display in a workbench window.
- The X server and the display drivers were revised. The server can now be launched several times without problems.
- All new programs with an own directory in the AmiCygnix "Software" directory will have two start scripts: One for opening the application on the desktop (just like before) and a script, which opens the program in an own display. With a special version of the settings editor "myX11Setup" you can select the display driver and the window manager for every application, which is launched with the new start script.
- A new icon theme in AmgaOS 4.1 style is included.
- The workbench icons are now all in AmigaOS 4.1 style.
- Version 1.0 of AmiCygnix could not be installed on partitions formatted with the filesystem JXFS. This is now solved.
- Most of the programs and libraries used in this package were replaced by current versions.
AmiCygnix 1.1 can be copied over an existing installation of a previous version.
The distribution consists of two parts: The base archive AmiCygnix-Base and the tool collection AmiCygnix-Tools.

Event: AmiWest 2012 will last one day longer (18.-21. October, Sacramento)
This year the AmiWest will last four days: The first two days of the annual Amiga meeting in Sacramento will be about Amiga software. Further details are still not known - but it will be discussed that there are only few applications for AmigaOS 4.

MorphOS: MPlayer 1.0 (2012.04.18) updated
Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly has updated his version 1.0 (2012.04.18) of his MorphOS-port of MPlayer. He wrote:
"I just reuploaded it to fix a ffmpeg bug : it was inconditionally using altivec in sample format conversion routine. It prevented mplayer from working on non-altivec machines when the routine was used."
