AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for ACube-hardware with limited Radeon HD-driver
The SAM4x0-version of the Final Edition of AmigaOS 4.1 will not include a RadeonHD-driver, because version 1.x of the driver is available for free only for X1000-customers. Many owners of a SAM have to purchase the driver.
In order to be able to launch the Final Edition on a SAM-motherboard equipped with a Radeon HD graphic board, A-EON and ACube have reached an agreement: A limited version of the driver will be included on the installation-CD.
The "RadeonHD Lite"-driver does not support compositing and is limited to a screen solution of 1024x768 but allows installing the operating system. Owners of ACube's hardware with Radeon HD graphic board later can install the commercial and full version of the driver.

Cloanto: Workbench 3.1 Floppy Disk Set
A few days ago, Cloanto started offering bootable CF cards containing Workbench 3.1. Meanwhile a floppy disk set is available, consisting of 6 DD disks (available from Vesalia, Amigakit and Amigastore.eu amongst others).
Just like they did with the CF card, Cloanto is using the Cloanto owned trademarks "Workbench" and "AmigaForever" as branding, this is why the previously unused moniker "Workbench 3.1" is introduced - with version 3.1 of the system software, Commodore originally used the term "AmigaOS".
Update: (05.11.2014, 17:15, cg)
We've been informed by Cloanto that this distribution has a few improvements over the original 3.1 disk set:
- Updated C/Version (Y2K patch)
- Addition of Libs/workbench.library (for A-4000T 3.1 ROMs and 3.X ROMs)
- Updated S/Startup-Sequence (for 3.X ROMs)
- Updated Installer 44.10 and FastFileSystem 45.9 (to support larger disks)
- Installer itself is now part of the system installation (inside the Utilities directory)

Set-Top-Box: Android-based "Met@box" with Amiga emulator
In the late 1990s, the German company PIOS (among others Stefan Dohmeyer, Dave Haynie, Peter Kittel) developed PPC-hardware for the operating system Apple and Amiga but devices like the PIOS One or the "AmiJoe" were never produced in series.
After changing the name into "Met@box", a Coldfire-based Set-Top-Box with the same name was developed. The software was written by some well-known Amiga developers. Only a few months after first devices have been delivered to developers, the company became insolvent. Actually there was a final attempt to rescue the company by the shareholders but after a second insolvency proceeding and after the company was prosecuted for course fraud, it had to shut down.
Under the IP-address 188.122.70.211 (we do not known a corresponding domain) since shortly a website of the "new" Met@box was established: The Android-based device is supposed to have access to the Google Play Store and play TV productions from a wide range of sources - e.g. CYMTV ChannelStore, from the Internet or local data media and which is supposed to have access to the world wide web or eMail.
Obviously the company is going to take up the history of the trademark in the Amiga market because additional to the motto "we're b@ck" it was announced that an Amiga emulator with "free ROMs" will be installed on the devices.
Meanwhile we got information that Ron van Herk is the leader of CYMTV and Met@box. The former Amiga salesman ("Computer City") did experiment with Set-Top-Boxes with regard to the Amiga in the past: In co-operation with the present Amiga-News publisher Martin Heine the company AHT was founded which announced an AROS-based Box after licensing AmigaOS 4 had failed. In the end, only "Tribbox" which works under Linux was put on the market.
