VNC: zvnc V.1.1 David Gerber has released version 1.1 of his VNC client "zvnc" on 28. December 2001. Following the changes:
"zvnc" is a small VNC-Client without display support (for controlling a second machine with monitor). The advantage of "zvnc" are a minimum of data to be send via the network, because the graphics data are not applied. That makes control by mouse and keyboard very straight. The archive contains versions for AmigaOS 2.x / 3.x, and MorphOS. Download: zvnc_1.1.lha (sd) (Translation: mj) [News message: 30. 29.Dec.2001 Telepolis |
Telepolis: Lifelong imprisonment becaus of distribution of unused machine time? In this article Birgitte Zarzer reports about the system administrator David McOwen, who provided unused machine time of several computers of the University of Georgia to distributed.net, and thereby catched harshly trouble in return. He will face court in January and possibly will catch very long lasting imprisonment. There are also many Amiga users helping distributed.amiga.org to crack the RC5 key. This worldwide competition is about to crack a 64bit key by calculating all of the 18.4 trillons of possibilities. One can provide unused computing capabilities of the own machine for this matter by using some specified software. In case you are utilizing "foreign" machines for this, after reading this article you appear to be adviced to raise a written permission. See title link for the Telepolis article (German). clickBOOM: Defender of the Crown - S-File 15 Defender of the Crown (for Windows and MAC) is basically finished. It is currently being tested against bugs. In the last few weeks we added a whole new type of game play to it -- missions. Basically, if you accept, and fulfill a mission, you get a reward during the game. Missions range from defeating a certain lord, to rescuing damsels, etc. Rewards can be additional gold, soldiers, and more. It plays very nice and adds a whole new dimension to the tried and tested original Defender game play. (ps) [News message: 29. Dec. 2001, 22:06] [Comments: 1 - 29.
