Software-News: tinyulMUI 1.1, IRA 2.04
Frank Wille has published a new version of IRA which is a portable disassembler for AmigaOS 3-binaries. Additionally with the MUI-based tinyulMUI an upload-tool is available with which programs can be transmitted to tinybld-based Programmable Interface Chips like e.g. Minimig is using it.

Both programs are available for AmigaOS 3/4 and MorphOS. (cg) (Translation: dr)

PR-campaign: Is Hyperion announcing new hardware? (2nd Update)
At the screenshots of the Firefox-port Timberwolf published two dys ago the website a-eon.com could be seen. Smart users figured out that this website belongs to Ben Hermans (Hyperion Entertainment) and obviously has hidden some hints to Hyperion's next project.

By clicking the graphics on each site you can release another text or get the next hint (1.html, 2.html, 3.html, 4.html). Each day a-eon.com will be completed with another hint. Again and again you can read the terms "OMEN" or ("OM"), "ENIGMA" and "AEON" with which users tried to make anagrams.

The hint added today plays with these terms and then shows the text "Have you figured it out yet?". The I-dot at "it" is something more dark - if you move the mouse cursor above it you get the reaction: "(Oh no! Don't look at that!".

If you ignore this warning and have a look at the I-dot you will see that it is a highly scaled down photo. A photo which apparently shows a part of a motherboard. In a thread at amigaworld.net Hans-Jörg "Rogue" Frieden explained that it is more than "just" new hardware. Further information will be available tomorrow.

According to the Belgian Staatsblad (PDF-document) the company A-EON was founded in April 2009 by Ben Hermans and the both British men Robert Trevor Dickinson and Anthony Moorley.

Update: (03.01.10, 12:14, snx)
Meanwhile almost the complete mainboard is visible, also one further picture was found on the server which seems to show part of a case.

2nd Update: (03.01.10, 13:52, snx)
Hans-Jörg Frieden adds that the slots on the mainboard are two PCIe x16, three PCIe x1, two PCI 33 MHz and finally one "Xorro" slot, with the latter being in line with the third PCIe 1x slot. All 16 lanes of the PCIe x16 slot can be used only if just one slot is occupied, though, otherwise two times eight lanes are used.

The javascript file (4.js) used for today's page confirms that the CPU is a PowerPC - and according to another picture already found on the server it seems to provide more than one core. At the second still covered position on the mainboard, there seems to be a chip called "Xena" which might serve as a custom chip. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Competition "Amiga Christmas Tree": Four other games
Dwarves in the Iceland

It is a Lemming-clone which is still an early release (screenshot).

Download: DITI.lha (155 KB)

Xmas Glass Ball Factory

It is a simple mind game. There are versions for ECS, AGA and graphic boards.

Download: XMAS_GBF.lha (70 KB)

Sam and Max

This a point'n click-adventure created with Gaphic Adventure Creator ("GRAC") with the two comic heros Sam & Max (screenshots: 1, 2, 3). The author calls it as a first attempt to work with GRAC. Hint: The game requires an assign GRAC2: which has to refer to the directory which includes the Sam&Max-folder.

Download: GRAC2.zip (608 KB)

Christmas Boulderdash

This is Guido Mersmann's famous BoulderDäsh RTX which the author facetiously had offered for several times as game for the competition - obviously in vain.

Download: boulderfull.lha (4,5 MB)

The vote will be soon started. Currently a HTML-solution which is compatible to IBrowse is tried to be found. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Ventzislav Tzvetkov (ANF)

AmigaOS 4: 8-Bit-Emulator Atari++ 1.58
The emulator Atari++ emulates Atari's 8-Bit-home computer as well as the game console Atari 5200. The AmigaOS-4-port was made by Ventzislav 'drHirudo' Tzvetkov, supports AmigaInput and can be controled with joysticks or analog controllers.

New features of version 1.58 include:
  • Fixed a couple of issues in the GUI, specifically when entering data into string gadgets
  • Fixed again a couple of exception handling issues in the menu
  • Made the keypad stick configurable, the keys for joystick emulation are now part of the configuration
  • Added a dummy front-end, "NONE", that does not render anything to the screen
  • This release supports .CAS images; however, they are not part of a C: (tape) emulation, but emulated as disks. Depending on the contents of the tape archive, the disk is either considered a boot disk, a binary or a basic file
  • This release supports better disk support for BASIC and MAC/65 files. If you insert such a file into the emulated disk drive, the emulator will build a DOS 2.0S compatible disk structure around it and you can load the image from the emulated disk as D:PROGRAM.BAS or D:PROGRAM.ASM. Note that such disks are *not* bootable, you first need to boot, and then turn on the emulated disk drive
  • Fixed emulation of read-modify-write instructions. The 6502 consistently writes the old value before replacing it by a second write with the updated value
  • The default alsa output device has been changed from hw:0.0 to default, making it more compatible to hardware setups
  • The disassembly of the BVC instruction was invalid, fixed
  • Added the space bar as possible source for joystick events
  • Fixed some issues with preferences reading
  • Added additional tests for ROM image verification
  • Fixed a NULL pointer reference in the cartridge module
