amiga-news.de: Homepage shows news of the last seven days
In May the editorial staff did carry out a survey and asked the readers how many news should be presented on the homepage.

60% of the participants did declare themselves in favour of reading more news in future. Our programmer Sven Drieling now adapted the homepage according to the result of the poll: From today on amiga-news.de always shows the news of the last seven days.

Of course each reader can configure the homepage in this way he likes best: If you want to go back to the original view or even want to get presented more news, you can configure that. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Trademark rights: "Commodore" announced PET-Smartphone
In April the Italian Massimo Canigiani announced with his company "Commodore Business Machines Ltd.", registered in Great Britain, plans for a Commodore-Smartphone. According to wired.com Canigiani alleged having "acquired" the trademark rights of the Commodore-brand for the mobile sector in 38 countries inclusive USA.

Probably it is meant that a registration was applied: At least in the database of trademark rights of the EU there is a corresponding application for the well-known Commodore-logo. It is not known if C= Holdings, the holder of the already registered original Commodore trademark, will proceed against it.

For weeks, the new smartphone namend "PET" is promoted on its website and got feedback and adequate attention: As expected, the "PET" is not a new development, but a merchantable Android-smartphone produced in China with Commodore lettering. Meanwhile the news service 9to5Google has identified the device: The "PET" is a Orgtec WaPhone. While the original is sold for 144 US-Dollar, the Italian smartphone at least will cost 300 Dollar.

Additional to the logo, supposedly the "PET" features a second unique selling point: Emulators for C64 (VICE) and Amiga (uae4All2-SDL) are preinstalled, which the editor of Wired could not test because it was still not available. The producer said that there are talks with different software developers to get the consent to deliver some of the best games from the 1980s.

As far as we know, "Commodore Business Machines" currently does not own licences for the ROM-files which are required for an emulation. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Prototype found: Amiga Ranger
During the preparations for the 30th Anniversary Event in the cellar of the Amiga developer Dale Luck a prototype of the "Ranger" was found. Under the title link one of the organizers, Chris Collins, has published photographs.

After "Lorraine", which later became the Amiga 1000, Ranger was planned as extendable version with Zorro-slots similar to the Amiga 2000. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Hyperion: Costel Mincea becomes third director
As a result of Hyperion's temporary banckruptcy earlier this year, director Ben Hermans had announced in May that the company would be restructured. There were no further statements regarding this matter, but apparently just two days later Belgium's central company register (KBO, "Kruispuntbank van Ondernemingen") has been updated to list a new member of the management body.

On May 4th, Costel Mincea has been added as a third director ("Bestuurder"). Mincea, also known under his nickname 'Cyborg', has been an active member of the Amiga community for quite some time. He's a member of the AmigaOS 4 team, part of the Aminet team and had been organizing a centralised buying of AmigaOne audio chips in 2006. (cg) (Translation: cg)
