Cloanto: Update for Amiga Forever 2009
Press release A free update to Amiga Forever 2009.0.7.0 was released today. This version is able to detect and correct a condition where insufficient access privileges are set for the directory containing the cache files.
This could have been caused by a bug in a previous Amiga Forever installer, resulting in the Games, Demoscene and Applications tabs not reflecting newly-added content on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. (snx)

Status update: DigiBooster Pro
Press release: DigiBooster 3 development has been resumed after holidays break. While it has been demonstrated that program skeleton is working on both MorphOS and AmigaOS 4, and player engine, the heart of any music tracker, was mature enough to release it inside DigiRoller, there are still substantial features missing.
The first one of them just implemented is instrument loading.
DigiBooster 3 supports common AIFF and WAVE PCM formats, as well as legacy 8SVX/16SV ones. What is important - no more sample size limit. Samples are only limited by memory available. Another important thing is reading sampling rate from the file. No more handtuning of samples taken at 44,1 kHz (or any other frequency, DigiBooster 3 supports audio up to 192 kHz). Just sample C-3 note from your instrument then play it as C-3 in DigiBooster. It is worth noting that sample loading window is not a plain filerequester.
It displays basic sample information on single click and features automatic playback, so browsing large samples collections becomes more comfortable. It also displays comments contained in audio files. Stereo files may be loaded as well (all supported formats), user's choices of stereo handling are loading single channel (left or right) or mix down both channels to mono.
More information about Digibooster Pro is also available as commented videos from the PowerDev 6 meeting where DBPro was demonstrated on AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS.

AROS: Hint for Netbook-owners
Under the title link Paolo Besser described how you can start AROS on Netbooks - at least on an Acer Aspire One - because of the Poseidon port. In any case an USB-DVD-drive is required. Please note that there is not any sound output and network support because of the missing drivers.

AROS-Distribution: Update problems with Icaros 1.1.4, Icaros Live-DVD
According to the developers of the AROS-distribution Icaros there are some problems if you want to update to the previously published version 1.1.4 automatically.
The developers recommend to download the update and to unpack it under a different operating system. Then the ISO-file can be installed without any problems under AROS with the "from ISO"-option of the LiveUpdater.
There is also a bootable "Live"-DVD of the distribution which is called "Icaros Desktop LIVE!" and which does not require any installation on the harddrive but which can be installed additional to an existing Windows-installation on a different partition.

Emulator: Preview to WinUAE 2.0.0
As usual the develpers of the well-known Amiga emulator WinUAE give a little preview to the next version. WinUAE 2.0.0 is supposed to be published in autumn/winter 2009 and and will have the following changes:
- Huge A500 cycle-exact emulation compatibility improvement. Previous
"approximate cycle-exact" is gone. It is time for REAL cycle-exact emulation!

- 68040 MMU emulation (from Aranym) finally merged. For example Enforcer and M68K Linux compatibility. (NOTE: not compatible with JIT)
- CD32 drive emulation compatibility improved.
- Built-in WASAPI sound API support.
- Less annoying real harddrive safetycheck.
- Full NTSC timing implemented (long/short line toggle etc..)

MorphOS: First screenshots of vector graphic program MOS-Office
Carsten Siegner wrote: With this I would like to announce my personal "little Office-package" (first only available for MorphOS, later for AmigaOS 4 and other as well). This is called "MOS-Office".
The user-interface was completely written as MUI-GUI and works with the "Multi-Windows-Method". All windows are asynchronous, that means that all windows can be open to each time and can receive input. MOS-Office is a pure vector graphic program which can handle any number of sites.
In later versions MOS-Office can export to the SVG-format and to the OpenOfficeDraw-format (.odg). For the ODG-import my opendokument.library will be required. Furthermore there is already a pagestream.library for the export to PageStream >= 4.1. Postscript and PDF I will have to put in a library but should not be a bugger problem. Thus MorphOS finally will get a connection to modern formats just like OpenOffice.
