Commercial version of "Catacomb 3D" for CD32 in progress
Recently the engine of the 25 years old 3D-Shooter Catacomb 3D was ported to AmigaOS. Pascal Papara has acquired a licence for selling the full version of the game and is going to distribute a CD32-version of the game commercially. For this pupose it is supposed to be adapted to the CD32, among others it will be controlled with a joypad and the CD32-specific chip Akiko is supposed to be used for chanky-to-planar conversions.
A Youtube video demonstrates the current stage of the development (on an emulator). Currently the features of saving the game status and using the original "Adlib"-sound are being added.

Entwickler-X: Blog established, M.A.C.E. Remastered announced
The team von Entwickler-X (e.g. Emotion, Tap Jewels, Bubble Shooter DX) has established a "Development Blog", which in future will inform about their projects. In the first two entries a reworked version of the shooter M.A.C.E. is announced which will be also released for AmigaOS 4.
In a discussion on os4welt.de, Thomas 'imagodespira' Claus, member of Entwickler-X, explained that the gameplay will be changed and there will be also more animations, backgrounds and other graphics. This new, remastered edition therefore will require a more powerful hardware.

FPGA: Apollo-Core-Update "Gold"
The Apollo core is a FPGA-reimplementation of Motorolas m68k-series, which also provides a separate graphic output called SAGA. Currently the core is used in the accelerator board Vampire 600 V2. Changes in the latest core which is called "gold":
- Added fusing for MOVE/EXT
- added MPU for finding illegal memory access
- added TRACE support
- fixed in CHK2, CMP2, MOVEM and CAS
- fixed some special LOOP condition
- fixed TRAPcc
- optimized MOVEQ/MOVE.l # and depending instructions

Bugfix: Projekt Lila "Remastered" for CD32 users
The Jump'n Run Projekt Lila that has been released a few weeks ago is supposed to be CD32 compatible - but on some consoles the boot process doesn't work. A new 'Remastered' edition fixes this problem and also features some changes to the world selection screen. The Remastered edition will be shipped for free to all existing Projekt Lila customers. The digital edition available from the IndieGo store is identical with the Remastered edition. (cg)

Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's 'Ask Me Up' is a one to five player quiz game for AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and Windows featuring 17000 questions in 16 categories. A demo version containing 80 questions is available for free. AROS-Distribution: AEROS 4.0.1 for Raspberry Pi and Odroid updated
For Pascal Papara's Linux-hosted AROS-distribution AEROS, an update is available to all registered users for all three generations of the ARM-based, credit card-sized single-board computer Raspberry Pi and Odroid (U2 and U3).
Addiditional to the SD-image, for the version for the Pi there now also is a SquashFS-Image which is compatible to BerryBoot. The files themself have not been changed. The updated verson for Odroid now corresponds the version for Raspberry Pi (concerning AROS).

AmigaOS 4: video player Emotion (Alpha)
Entwickler-X have released an early alpha version of the video player they are working on called "Emotion". They stress that it's far from being finished yet and that a lot of functionality - including the menu - is still missing. Due to the status of the release, bug reports are not required yet.
As Thomas 'imagodespira' Claus explains (German), Emotion has to

Individual Computers lizenziert Commodore-Logo
In a press release, Individual Computers announce they licensed the 'Commodore' trademark from its current owner Polabe Holding N.V. to distribute hardware under the legendary home computer brand. AmigaOS 4: Enhancer Software 1.1
Press release: A-EON Technology Ltd is pleased to announce a major update to the Enhancer Software for AmigaOS 4.1 systems. The Enhancer Software version 1.1 upgrade demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the AmigaOS platform and is available as a free download from AMIStore for existing registered users. New customers can either purchase a digital download from AMIStore or a buy a boxed CD from selected Amiga dealers.
The original Enhancer Software package was met with positive acclaim when it was released earlier this year. The v1.1 update is the culmination of four months hard work by the dedicated AmigaDeveloper.com team who have added a whole host of new function-ality and features.
Applications & utilities
Apart from significant updates to key software utilities such as MultiViewer v2.6, MultiEdit v1.3, AmiPDF v1.34, X-Dock v0.35 and TuneNet v2.4 there are new additions such as the ‘themeable’ Clock utility (v53.7) with a wide selection of ‘skins’ included.
RadeonHD driver update
The RadeonHD driver has once again been updated. The new versions, v2.18 (Plus Edition) and v1.17 (Standard Edition), includes several maintenance updates and increased compatibility for additional graphics card firmware support.
Warp3D Nova, the Shader based 3D graphics system, has been significantly updated and v1.29 now supports MipMapping, Stencil buffering and many other new functions. It is complemented by the much awaited premiere of the OpenGL ES 2.0 library on AmigaOS.
New datatypes & features
The new Sound Datatype, which includes MOD, MPEGA and WAV, is a significant improvement over earlier versions. It now supports multi channel 16-bit/32-bit/64-bit (floating point) streaming with internal support for up to 19 named channels. Apart from adding full MultiViewer support, we have been working closely with third party application developers to ensure that the new datatypes deliver the added functionality they require for their own software titles. The Ringhio Notifications server has been under continuous development since the last Enhancer Software release. The latest version (53.60) adds the possibility of a ‘Progress Bar’ support inside the notification “bubble” pop-up.
Future proofing
With one eye to the future, the building blocks of applications, ReAction compatible gadgets and classes have been extended and many of the main programs have been converted to use the new gadgets. The new Clock app is based on the new flexible and powerful clock.gadget

Video: controlling a Minimig from MorphOS
As announced at Morph.zone three years ago, Anders Granlund has connected a Minimig to his MorphOS computer that enables him to run Amiga games on the Minimig by double-clicking them on Ambient. Keyboard, mouse and joystick input is also forwarded to the FPGA Amiga. (snx) (Translation: cg)

Puzzle game: G.E.M.Z. 2.1
Fabio Falcucci's G.E.M.Z. is a commercial puzzler for all Amiga systems, where blocks with the same colour have to be positioned next to each other to make them disappear. New in version 2.1 are additional animations and the possibility to modify the game by editing text based configuration files. AmigaOS 4: File manager Dir Me Up 3.02
Jérôme 'Glames' Senays' commercial file manager "Dir Me Up" among others offers browsing history and preview images or thumbnails. In version 3.02 no longer names of drives are limited to three characters and the Swedish and German translation have been completed.
The update is available for free to all resistered users. All other ones can test an limited demo version.

AROS: July 2016 Highlights
Based on his weekly news on the progresses of the operating system AROS, Krzysztof 'deadwood' Śmiechowicz writes monthly summaries as well.
In July several minor bug fixes and improvements provided by different developers (among others Neil Cafferkey, Krzysztof Śmiechowicz, Matthias Rustler and Stefan Haubenthal) were done - e.g. the native GCC now finds the SDK paths.
Additionally, the Apollo team offers Vampire accelerator boards for developers for free, who push AROS/68k forward. New and updated programms and games (e.g. SimpleMail 0.41, EmuLa) as well as another preversion of the AROS-distribution Broadway are provided as well.

Photographs of and information about Amiga 3400 (preproduction series A4000)
Stefan Egger ("computer collection vienna") has bought an "Amiga 3400", which is a preproduction series of a computer, later sold as Amiga 4000. His working computer and the difference to the later preproduction series he presents on his website. Some missing parts (upper part of the case, HDD-mount, mount for the disk drive, joyport sheet) will be soon completed.
The mount of the disk drive is different to the one of the A4000 and have to be made. Additional information Egger would really appreciate. The computer currently only recognizes 1 MB ChipRAM, for that any hints would be helpful as well.

AlarCity is supposed to become a fast shooter scrolling in eight directions. Ports for Amiga (AGA), Windows and MacOS are planned. Already in June a video was released which shows an early version of the engine running on an (emulated) CD32.

Screenshot of original BoingBall-Demo
There are different versions of the famous "Boingball-Demo". Again and again collectors are trying to find the oldest and "only real" one. Since the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Amiga it is known that the first version of the demo contained a text in the background which an old screenshot proves:
Amiga user Pentad found the screenshot in the September issue of the Amercian magazine "Compute!" from 1985. According to Mical's report after the acquisition by Commodore, the Amiga developers were told to remove the logo "Amiga Computer, Inc" - and in protest against it they did not wrote a different one.

Carsten Siegner's DTP proramm Calimero now can handle automatic hyphenation. Libraries for the German and English language are provided but you can also install other ones.
The second screenshot shows the rendering of barcodes: Calimero now can handle about 100 different kind of barcodes (e.g. EAN, ISBN, QR-Code, Maxi-Code).

Italian assembler coding course as book and free e-Book
In the early 90s, Fabio Ciucci alias "Randy of RamJam" sold an Italian assembler coding course on disks. A slightly reworked version he now offers as download under the GNU GPL. A printed version you can buy at lulu.com for 25 Euro (plus taxes and shipping).

Hexen II - Hammer of Thyrion (uHexen2 1.5.8) for AmigaOS, MorphOS and AROS
Szilárd 'BSzili' Biró has ported the engine of the FPS classic
Hexen II to AmigaOS 3, MorphOS and AROS. The engine uHexen2 as well as the corresponding game data of the Shareware version are available on sourceforge.net. Warp 3D is supported via MiniGL and StormMesa but a software renderer is available as well.

Jump'n Run: Super Robin
The Jump'n Run game "Super Robin" (Video) written by Chris Clarke was created with the Reality Game Engine. In each of the 32 levels you have to collect all fruit and then to get to the exit.
Additional to teleporter doors and switches (push up on your joystick and then press fire), there are also bonus levels, which can be accessed at the end pf a level.
The author used the Reality Game Engine because compared to e.g. Backbone it has some benefits. Obviously it has also some flaws and limitations which he mentioned:
- Occasionally some graphic glitch on the enemy sprites in the training mode
- The main sprite will not be changed. Reality does include a hotspot editor but there are no instructions available on how to use or implement this.
- Only one in game music tune can be used throughout the game.
- The disk version the game would sometimes crash after a particular level.
Super Robin requires any Amiga with at least 2 MB RAM. A version for CD32 is also offered.

Boulder Dash clone: Full version of Robouldix for free download
In 1993 the Boulder Dash clone Robouldix was released as "Payware" (Shareware). Robouldix offers about 150 levels and an optional two player mode. On a separate website, the authors offer the game the full version for free download.
The team currently is about to assemble the game again and to fixes some bugs: Among others levels 134 and 135 are considered to be unsolvable. There is already a list including all paswords for the single player mode.

Game engines for DOS games Catacomb 3D and Keen Dreams
Szilárd 'BSzili' Biró has released ports of the engines of Catacomb 3D - which is the (technical) prequel of Wolfenstein 3D - as well as of the jump'n run game Commander Keen: Keen Dreams. The engines always need the level data of the original versions.
Additional to the original "Catacomb 3D", there is also the sequels "The Catacomb Abyss", "Curse of the Catacombs" (aka "Catacomb Armageddon") and "Terror of the Catacombs" (aka "Catacomb Apocalypse"). Although all five (Commander Keen included) games are in one Github archive, Biró has provided a separate executable for each game. The author recommends a 68030 processor, Commander Keen works with 2 MB RAM.

The native port of the C++ aplication framework Qt for AmigaOS 4 has been updated. The update fixes several bugs concerning the Final Edition of AmigaOS 4.1 as well as some of some programms like Wally and JuffEd. JuffEd is a text editor, which can be also found under the title link.

Vampire 500: First pictures of FPGA-accelerator board for A500/A2000
Simo Koivukoski has published some first pictures of the Vampire accelerator board for A500/2000 at Google+. The board "will sit on place of your original CPU" or can be plugged into the CPU-slot of an Amiga 2000 using an adapter platine which is also delivered.
According to a short review from the CommVEX 2016 (Las Vegas), Jim Drew (ex Microcode Solutions, e.g. iFusion) is the "North American Rep" and presented a working Vampire 500 running, as he said, at 234 Mhz. He also said that "the Vampire 1200 would be released around Christmas".
Similar to the Vampire 600, the Vampire 500 provides a separate graphic chip, which under AmigaOS can be used as graphic board. The pricing has been set at 150 Euro. According to the official website, the board has the following features:
- 128MB FastRAM
- Digital video output
- Fast IDE-port
- SD-card for HDD storage
- 64 bit core, full 32 bit compatibility
- directly update core from Amiga without need for external programmer
- FPU and 16 bit audio is planned for future updates
Obviously the board can be only purchased from the Canadian "kipper2k". Concerning the Vampire 600, there were long waiting periods between the order and the delivery. Besides, the Canadian seemed to ignore inquiries via email up to this moment, when he could deliver the board to the customer. But obviously all ordered boards were delivered without any defects.

C64 remake: Raid Over Moscow (prototype)
A very early version of a remake of the C64 classic Raid over Moscow was released. Author 'earok' would finish developing the game if there is sufficient interest.
Still there are not any sound effects. Besides, not all scenes of the original game have been implemented. Currently a joystick or joypad with two buttons is required.

AmigaOS 4: 8-Bit graphics software Personal Paint 7.3b
A-EON has released a free update of the 8-Bit graphics programm Personal Paint, which fixes several minor bugs. The version for AmigaOS 4 can be purchased and updated in the Amistore. An update for users of AmigaOS 3 will be released soon.
Additional to the bug fixes, Martin 'Mason' Merz has provided an optional, black set of pictograms. The new InfoWindow-class, known from the Enhancer-package, is also introduced and used for the online help.

AmigaOS 4: Entwickler-X is working on a new video player "Emotion"
According to Thomas 'imagodespira' Claus in a comment on os4welt.de, Entwickler-X currently is working on a new, Reaction-based video player for AmigaOS 4. The project is called "Emotion" (video) and is supposed to be adapted to AmigaOS as much as possible, but also will concentrate on basic functions.
Emotion can scale via compositing or can use overlay on systems equipped with older graphic boards. For the codecs, parts of ffmpeg are used.
Entwickler-X started the project in April and it is not clear when he can finish it - currently ffmpeg is ported and converted into an Amiga library. Emotion will be commercially sold, the price will be about 20 Euro.

Retro 7-bit announces some A500/A2000 extensions
On its website, the Polish team Retro 7-Bit (e.g. keyboard adapter SUM, A500Flash, mouse/joystick adapter Ryś) has announced a lot of new products, which currently are in development:
- IDEA ZII, an IDE-controller for Zorro II
- Wicher 2000, an accelerator board for the Amiga 2000: MC68000-processor (not included) with 7/14/28 MHz clock speed and max. 8MB FastRAM
- Wicherek 14, an accelerator board for the Amiga 500: MC68000/68010 (not included) with 7 or 14MHz clock speed
- Wicher 5k / 1M, a ChipRAM-extension for A500/A500+

FPGA: Apollo-Core-Update "Silver9"
The Apollo core is a FPGA-reimplementation of Motorolas m68k-series, which also provides a separate graphic output called SAGA. Currently the core is used in the accelerator board "Vampire 600 V2". Changes in version 9:

- Fix bug in TRAPV

Amiga emulation on ARM: HAPPIGA 1.3.1
Happiga is a Debian-based Linux distribution for ARM-based computers like the Raspberry Pi, which directly bootsinto the Amiga emulator UAE4ARM.
An AGA-Amiga with 68040-processor and sufficient RAM is emulated, Picasso96 is installed as well.
In order to enable the data exchange with other systems, Samba-Share has been alreaey preconfigured. Website and documentation of the project currently are only available in French.
