Ancient Format Decompressor: Decompressing files
"Ancient Format Decompressor" is a "collection of decompression routines for ancient formats popular in the Amiga, Atari computers (and others) from 80's and 90's as well as including some current ones that were used in a some specific way in these systems." A lot of formats are supported like Powerpacker, CrunchMania or Rob Northern Compressors "automatically detected in most cases."
Currently the "Ancient Format Decompressor" has to be compiled by oneself. The program then should work on all modern systems. Additional to the command line application there is also an API which can be used by external applications.

Cinema show of documentation "From Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years"
During the "Amiga32" which will take place on 28. Oktober 2017 in Neuss (Germany) you can watch the Amiga documentation "From Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years" produced by Nicola and Anthony Caulfield at the Hitch cinema. The film will start at 9:15 p.m., will last 151 minutes and is presented in the original English-language version. Tickets can be ordered for 5,- Euro via info@amiga32.de or directly at the Hitch cinema.

Hollywood: MUI Royale 1.7
Press release: This is code business and the hardest working men in it are back on your screen with a brand-new release: MUI Royale 1.7. This version adds a few new features and contains some bug fixes.
MUI Royale requires at least Hollywood 5.2 and is provided free of charge for all users of Hollywood. It is available for AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS/x86.
The package comes with over 20 example scripts, many of which are direct ports from the MUI 3.8 SDK by Stefan Stuntz, but there are also original developments like demonstrations of how to create a video player using the combined power of Hollywood and MUI. On top of that MUI Royale comes with extensive documentation in over 300 PDF pages which are also available in HTML, AmigaGuide and CHM format thanks to the Hollywood documentation system.

Workbench distribution: AmiKit X 10.3.1 / Plugins
Version 10.3.1 of the Workbench distribution AmiKit, mainly meant for emulators, is available and can be updated via the included update function. RetroMañía 2017: Videogame and demo competition
At the beginning of November, this year again the RetroMañía will take place in Zaragoza (Spain). Celebrating the Amiga 30th anniversary, the event will also have a competition: All videogames and demos which never have been released before and somehow are dedicated to the RetroMañía 2017 can take part. In both categories the winner will get 100 Euro, the second place 50 Euro.

MorphOS: MUI class for Windows-Metafiles Wmf.mcc 1.0
Carsten Siegner's Wmf.mcc is a MUI class for MorphOS for viewing "Windows Metafile" (.wmf) image files. The Archive additionally contains some example files, a simple wmf viewer and the source code of the viewer.

MorphOS: MUI class Epub.mcc 0.4
Siegner's Epub.mcc is a MUI class vor viewing ebooks of the EPUB format. The archive also includes two demo programs for viewing ebooks and svg files. Version 0.4 now supports Unicode, exporting to PDF and printing documents.
The archive now also includes the souce code of an example program.

Hollywood: RapaGUI 1.2 released
Press release: Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to announce the immediate availability of RapaGUI 1.2, the ultimate cross-platform GUI toolkit for Hollywood. Amiga disks on PC: Arduino Amiga Floppy Disk Reader/Writer
Similar to ADF Drive, Robert Smith's project called "Arduino Amiga Floppy Disk Reader/Writer" also uses a micro controller - in this case an Arduino board - in order to be able reading and writing Amiga disks with an ordinary PC disk drive.
All documents of Smith's project also are available under free licences. So far the Arduino Reader/Writer only can read or write whole disks. On his website there is detailed report about the history of his project.

Guest appearance: AmigaOne X5000 in an ad for hair salons
According to Trevor Dickinson in his latest blog entry, Amiga fan and filmemaker Charles Paek has asked him if A-EON could provide a X5000 for a professional advertising spot for a chain of hair salons as a prop. Of course Dickinson could and therefore the X5000 now can be seen in the latest advertising spot for the US-American "Supercuts" which has 9000 branches.

Open source hardware: CD³² extension TerribleFire 328
TerribleFire products are open source hardware developed by Stephen Leary (e.g. accelerator board TF530). A month ago under the title link a beta version of the TF328 was published which is an extension board for the Amiga CD³² providing 8 MB RAM and IDE-controller.

Retro 7-bit: First prototype of CD³² extension Wicher CD³² working
According to Retro 7-bit under the title link, the first prototype of the CD³² extension "Wicher CD³²" is working. The card for the expansion slot of the Amiga console and for the Riser board (Retro 7-bit) has 8 MB RAM, an IDE-controller and a clock port.
