WHDLoad: New installers until 15.06.2019
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until June 15th, 2019:

The 68k version now inofficially supports OS3.1. If you don't have ClassAct installed you can only use it in skinned mode without the file info window. The preferences tool won't work either. Installing ClassAct v3.3 will enable both the 'ReAction' functionality of AmigaAMP itself as well as the preferences tool. Some GUI elements don't work yet in this configuration. I will fix that in a later release.

Most important changes:
- Completely reworked shoutcast streaming code
- Fixed handling of empty ID3v2 comment fields
- Fixed drawing of skinned equalizer "AUTO" gadget. But it doesn't do anything. :-)
- Localized some more strings

- Fixed redrawing current time display when changing skins
- Fixed background fill in playlist time display for spaces
- Refined ID3v2 tag reading and added ID3v2.2 support

- ESC key now also closes the info and the prefs window

Game announcement: Jump!
Under the Title link Indie Retro News announces a new game for AGA computers equipped with at least 4 MB Fast-RAM. "Jump!" is an Amiga port of the Atari-XE/XL game Yoomp! You have to control a ball through a tube without letting it roll over the edge.

FPGA-Amiga clone: MiSTer
It is not a new development and so far on amiga-news.de the FPGA-Amiga clone MiSTer was only mentioned by the hint (German) to a corresponding report on Obligement. Consequently our reader 'Holla' has introduced the product of the Russian developer Sorgelig in the German comment area.
MiSTer is an adaption of MiST to a more powerful FPGA, equipped with a faster ARM processor and a HDMI port (scaling usually to 1280x720 pixels at 60 hertz; VGA and analog audio output available with a daughter board). MiSTer is based on the DE10-Nano board produced by Terasic.
Major improvements compared with the MiST board:
- Altera-Cyclone-V-SE-FPGA with 110.000 LE (41.500 ALM) and 5.570 KBit Block-RAM
- ARM-Cortex-A9-Dual-Core processor with 800 MHz
- HDMI video and audio port for connecting to modern monitors or television
- 1 GB DDR3 RAM, available for the ARM processor and the FPGA
- High-speed connection between process core and FPGA because both are in the same chip
- ARM-Linux supports many I/O devices and file systems
- Board is produced by a major producer in series and is available for a fair price of 130 US-Dollar (110 for students/professors)
By using a more powerful FPGA, more powerful systems can be created. It is also possible to add more support of ARM. The firmware is not limited by the available RAM or the code size. It is even possible to emulate some parts of the system with ARM side which is not available in the FPGA (a so called hybrid emulator).
MiSTer can extend the DE10-Nano board by several optional daughter boards. Circuit diagrams and Gerber files are available for download:
- SDRAM board: Already with this additional board almost all cores can be used. The small board is plugged into the GPIO-0 port of the DE10-Nano board. Although the DE10-Nano has a fast DDR3-RAM, it cannot be used for the emulation of a retro EDO-RAM due to its high latency and the shared usage together with the ARM side.
- I/O board: This board is plugged into the GPIO-1 port of the DE10-Nano. It provides a VGA port, analog audio output (3,5-mm jack plug), digital optical audio output, keys and LEDs. This board is recommended if VGA is more used (instead of HDMI) or the MiSTer is supposed to be installed in a case. It is also useful for developing the cores since compiling is faster for VGA (HDMI scaler code takes about twice the time for compiling).
- RTC board: This board is plugged into the LTC port and provides a realtime clock. The clock can be also synchronized via Internet, without this expansion.
- USB-Hub board: This board adds a 7-port USB-hub which is placed under the mainboard.
Additional to more than 20 systems (see Obligement article), MiSTer emulates all classic Amiga systems except the CD³² based on a 68000, 68010 or 68020 processor with 88 MHz. Kickstart 1.2 to 3.1 are supported, the OCS, ECS and AGA chipset with PAL and NTSC output as well as diverse memory configurations with 512 KB chip-RAM to 24 MB Fast-RAM. Aditional to virtual disk drives and harddrives e.g. also scanlines can be simulated and Amiga mice and joysticks used like common USB input devices.

USB adapter for input devices: Tom and Tom+
On ebay the British shop electronika4you-uk offers adapters which can connect USB input devices (mouse, joystick or keyboard) to the joystick port of a Commodore or Atari computer. It is not required any additional drivers on PC.
The adapter can emulate all seven buttons of the CD32 joypad. Up to ten buttons or keys of a connected USB device can be configured to your needs - e.g. with a auto-fire function for button 1 or 2 of an Atari joystick. Several USB devices can be simultaneously connected in order to switch between mouse and joystick without removing the devices.
Two different versions of the adapter are offered: Tom occupies one joystick port and provides one USB port, while Tom+ additionally loops through the original joystick port and thus makes it possible to use the Atari joystick and an USB mouse simultaneously.
In our German comment area an user has shared his experiences with these adapters.

Web browser: NetSurf 3.9dev (SDL version)
Artur Jarosik has released an update of his Amiga port of the web browser NetSurf. His port uses - in contrary to Chris Young's native, Reaction-based version - SDL. Only the preferences pane is MUI-based.
Confirmed by tests of our editor Daniel Reimann, the update fixes problems with the mouse pointer and also the graphical user-interface works without any problems. Our readers may test if under Amithlon now https websites again can be accessed. Using an Amiga 1200 with Blizzard 1230 and AmigaOS 3.9 our amiga-news website could be accessed easily. Detailed changes:
- Updated to newest sources
- New EaglePlayer.rexx script - improved mod playback from modules.pl
and modarchive.org
- Fixed mp4 and mpeg conversion playback from youtube
- Updated https certificates file ca-bundle
- Updated default.css

David May's Air Taxi is a clone of the 8-Bit classic Space Taxi, which supports up to four joysticks and five human players. On a separate website now the programmer offers the full version of the game as free download.

Book: Getting Started with Warp3D Nova
Originally published on his blog, on the advice of a programmer Hans de Ruiter has reworked and extended his lessons about his 3D system "Warp 3D Nova" and published it as book on Amazon. A print version for 26 Euro as well as an eBook for 5 Euro are available.

Pong 4 as commercial release
Last October "PONG 4k" was released which is a PONG clone for four players. Now the game can be purchased also as commercial release. For 9 Euro plus shipping the Polish website amiga.pl.net offers a CD in a DVD box including a manual printed fully in colour, a sticker (7x10 cm) and an A3 poster. The game was written for a CD32 but also runs on other AGA Amigas.
