Windows: Software synthesizer "AmigaKlang" generates samples for MOD files
The software synthesizer 'AmigaKlang' generates samples which can be used in MOD tracks, typical for the Amiga. The samples can be saved as binary files or directly written in existing MOD files but also be exported as Amiga code which is very memory saving because the samples are only generated when they were started (Example on Soundcloud, 27 KB).

Tutorial: Using FS-UAE on Linux with real MIDI hardware
Warren Vercueil has published an illustrated, English-language tutorial (PDF) which explains the usage of real MIDI hardware from inside the Amiga emulator FS-UAE. He has used the MIDI application BarsnPipes but his setup should also work with different applications.

PDF viewer: RNOPDF for Amigas without graphics board
The first version of the PDF viewer RNOPDF, written with Hollywood, was released one and a half year ago for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS for Amigas equipped with a graphics board. Now also a version for ESC and AGA Amigas is available.

Internal Flickerfixer/Scandoubler for A500/A2000 under free licence
Niklas Ekström is working on a FPGA-based Scandoubler/Flickerfixer which can be internally used in an Amiga 500 or 2000. In a first development stage a DE10-Lite-FPGA-developer board is connected to the pins of the custom chip "Denise". The FPGA generates a VGA signal from the CSYNC and 12-Bit-RGB signals. Originally the next step would have been a completed board equipped with FPGA and a SDRAM module directly put on the Denise.
Meanwhile Ekström takes a different approach: Currently he is changing his adapter so it can be directly put in the socket of Denise and thus replacing the original chip. By adapting a free emulation of Denise, written in Verilog, he is going to create a FPGA-based replacement for the 35 years old original chip which directly output a VGA signal.

The team of the Spanish-language website Amigatronics has started a video series on its YouTube channel about movies and TV series presenting an Amiga. In the first issue an Amiga 4000 in the movie "Quantum Apocalypse" 2010) is introduced. According to the team this is the only performance of this model.

Review: Video production under AmigaOS 4
In his blog the musician and Amiga programmer Andy Broad has explained how he cut and mixed his Youtube video "One Man Band" (playing two guitar parts as well as bass) using Audio Evolution and Blender under AmigaOS 4 - only for the audio recordings a Linux laptop was used.

Porting Amiga applications on Linux: AxRuntime
Krzysztof 'deadwood' Śmiechowicz' "AxRuntime" is a runtime environment for Linux which emulates the AmigaOS-API and therefore enables porting Amiga applications on Linux and developing applications which can be compiled for AmigaOS/MorphOS/AROS as well as Linux. Examples videos show the AROS desktop Wanderer (MP4) and gmPlayer (MP4) under Linux.
In a discussion on AmigaWorld Śmiechowicz explained that currently the APIs of AmigaOS 3.1, CybergraphX, AHI, MUI as well as of some open source libraries and classes are supported but "It is the intend to eventually support API from all (Amiga)families".

AmigaOS 4: JAmiga 1.3
On Sourceforge Joakim Nordström has released another beta version of his Java port "JAmiga" which originally was crowdfunded. As far as we can see though the last changes in the archive of the source code on SF are three years or more old. The changes in the latest release are not known.

Virus Help Team Denmark: VirusZ_III.Bootblocks updated
The "Virus Help Team Denmark" (VHT) has updated the collection of bootblocks for Georg Hörmann's VirusZ III due to the new trojaner on Aminet which includes a bootblock virus called "Jackal" - but the update also detects other bootblock viruses which have been found since the last release.
Hint of the editors: The update detects the Jackal bootblock virus itself but cannot find the original trojaner which spreads the bootblock virus.

Edwin Van Den Oosterkamp's "Classic AmigaOS Programming" is an introduction in to Amiga OS programming in C and assembler. This book is meant for programmers without Amiga experiences or for former Amiga programmers who after a longer break are going to start developing software for the Amiga again. The book is published by the author himself, a digital edition obviously is not available.

Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.7.13
RedPill is a Game Construction Kit written in AmiBlitz2, which can help developing games of diverse genres - see our little review of two games. RedPill is compatible to AGA and ECS, the "player" requires 1 MB Chip as well as some Fast RAM.
Changes in version 0.7.13:
- Input buffering for Input Up and Input Fire: Save input for some frames. Configure it in input screen.
- New condition Grounded that allows Coyote time or edge tolerance.
- Old Grounded and Not Grounded triggers are not invalid but deprecated.
- New action trigger Enable SFX that allows to turn on/off the sound effects in the game.
- New action trigger Set NTSC to change display to PAL or NTSC.
- In RP Editor the gap between the game display and the editor display has been reduced.
- FIX: When changing the level the tab displayed could be wrong.
- FIX: Sprite background was not cleaned properly when loadgin a new project.
- FIX: For games without tiles, the palette was wrong.
- FIX: HUD elements could have some flickering when values changed too fast.

Joystick in Atari-VCS style: Hyperkin Trooper
The "Trooper" produced by Hyperkin is a joystick looking like the joystick of the Atari VCS, compatible to Atari and Commodore, providing a fire button and a 3 metre cable. The device can be ordered from different shops, e.g. from Amazon and ebay.
The "Trooper" is a reworked edition of the joystick included in the package of the Retron 77 console which earned criticism (German) for its lack of durability. First reviews and pictures of the hardware you can find e.g. on Forum64 (German).
