DTP: Pagestream 5.1.2 update for Windows and MorphOS
For users who had purchased a full version of the DTP application Pagestream 5 for said systems in the past, an update to version 5.1.2 was uploaded by Deron Kazmaier today. In addition, a demo version is also available for MorphOS, among other things, for which you must first indicate your interest with your name and mail address.
This MorphOS release contains significant contributions from MorphOS developer Frank Mariak to make version 5 working and more stable on MorphOS. (dr)

Amiga E Compiler: E-VO 3.5.1
E-VO Amiga E Compiler is a derivative of the original Amiga E compiler written by Wouter van Oortmerssen. It adds many new features, bug fixes and optimisations including object UNIONs, string merging, non word-aligned objects and many more (amiga-news.de reported).
A few moments ago, version 3.5.1 has been released. Changes:
- fix issue with short jump calculations being done incorrect in certain circumstances, causing crashes.
- fix casing of math ieee functions to match original E modules
- disable OPT POOL and OPT UTILLIB in legacy mode
- disable THISTASK, __POOL and UTILITYBASE in legacy mode
- reinstate [] in immediate list to previous E functionality (a blank 0 item list)
- fix optimisation issue where MOVE.B (A0),D0 and MOVE.W (A0),D0 followed by TST.L would be optimised incorrectly.
- fix issue with immediate lists, ListMax() could not be used as the max size was not populated.
- allow 0 length lists to be created eg List(0)
- add showhunk source

Tool for Reverse Engineering: Amiga extension for Ghidra (update)
Ghidra is a free and open source reverse engineering tool. This framework includes a suite of software analysis tools that enable users to analyze compiled code on a variety of platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux. Capabilities include disassembly, assembly, decompilation, graphing, and scripting (GitHub page).
Based on the work of Vladimir Kononovich and Martin Atkins, 'Bartman' has released a first Amiga extension, which can load Amiga Hunk executables and Kickstart images, include NDK 3.9 symbols.

AmigaOS 4: The Battle for the Solar System - The Pandoran War
After George 'walkero' Sokianos ported the platformer "BlobWars: Attrition" to AmigaOS 4 the other day (amiga-news.de reported), he has now ported the shoot'em up "The Battle for the Solar System: The Pandoran War" by Stephen J Sweeney and Parallel Realities using SDL.
The required data files have to be downloaded from the page The Battle for the Solar System. After unpacking the file "tbftss-1.5.1.linux-x86_64.tar.gz" twice to a hard disk location of your choice, the data is available. Sokianos' archive is also unpacked there, prompts to overwrite some files must be confirmed. Additional information about the game can be found in the file README-OS4.md.
Those who want to support the author have the opportunity to do so on his Ko-fi website. 50% of the donations are returned to the community by the author at the end of each month by supporting projects or developers. (dr)

Replacement keyboards for A500/A1200: Production of Kipper2k delays
At the end of May, we reported on a status update from the American retailer "Amiga On The Lake" regarding the Kipper2k replacement keyboards: there, it was reported that all pre-orders should be fulfilled by the end of June 2022, mid-July 2022 at the latest.
As was reported three days ago, there is a delay in the production of more keyboards for the last dozen pre-orders as well as for the regular sales stock. They would have completely underestimated the excessive lead times that would be involved in manufacturing the circuit boards. All the parts would be available in sufficient quantities to build the keyboards, except for the circuit boards. In order to reduce the delays, other sources and solutions would now be sought. (dr)

Print magazine: Amiga Future, issue 158
The English and German issue 158 (September/October 2022) of the print magazine Amiga Future has been distributed. It can be ordered directly from its editorial office and from Amiga dealers that stock the magazine.

Point'n Click adventure: AGA version of "Athanor 2 - Legend of the Birdmen"
We had reported about the announcement of the point'n click adventure game 'Athanor 2 - The Legend Of The Birdmen', originally developed for the Amstrad CPC, also about a first preview video. The release for OCS-Amigas itself including an interview with the author we mentioned in the article about the second issue of the French print magazine Boing.
The availability of an AGA version of the game has now been announced via YouTube video. As with the OCS version, orders and reservations can only be made by mail. The OCS version, of which 100 physical boxes were produced, cost 39 Euros including shipping in the EU. Some boxes of the AGA version are also available. With each box version the adf files are also provided. More info from the author.

- redrawn all the places (60 screens)
- redrawn all the sprites, inventory objects, npc, GUI
- 3 minutes of soundscape added (made of 150KB of samples)

Programming assistance: "AB_Template" v0.34 offers templates for AmiBlitz 3
Sami Vehmaa wants to get more people to develop games for the Amiga platform and for this purpose offers templates for the RTG variant of AmiBlitz 3 on itch.io with "AB_Template" (YouTube video of version 0.23, (amiga-news.de reported).
Now he has released version 0.34, providing a pinball game concept as well an updated slot machine example. (dr)

Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.9.13
RedPill, developed by Carlos Peris, is a game construction kit written in Amiblitz 3.9, which allows the development of games from various genres (see short tests of two Redpill games). RedPill is compatible with AGA and ECS, the "player" for playing the finished creations requires a total of 1.5 MB RAM. Jens 'Farbfinsternis' Henschel has written a tutorial.
Version 0.9.13 released today provides the following changes:
- When editing the level the collision map can be displayed on top of the map with the Show Tile Cols checkbox.
- Games not using hud will consume less Chip memory.
- When editing text, non ASCII characters will be converted to the closest ASCII character.
- Reduced screen width is used correctly in triggers and camera.
- Added Condition trigger On Landed that detects when an objects hits the ground.
- Audio files path tries to correct itself if the file is not found.
- Added trigger Play Sound Random to play from a range of sounds.
- Added action trigger Stop CD32 that stops the CD audio.
- Loading a level now stops the CD audio if playing.
- Adjusted lower limit for map width values.
- Optimization in memory copy operations.
- Fix in collisions when moving very fast to the left.
- Fix for copper palette from a file not being exported to the Build.

Accelerator board: Buffee developers test TF1200
In her latest blog entry, Renee Cousins, one of the two developers of the turbo card project "Buffee" (amiga-news.de reported), reports that due to the existence of a TF1200 by Stephen Leary they are able to test Buffee on the Amiga 1200 as well. Already 2021 she had announced in a tweet that the TerribleFire turbo card supports the Buffee project. (dr)

AmigaOS 4: C runtime library clib2 v1.0.0 beta 7
Andrea 'afxgroup' Palmate has created a fork of the official clib2 library, included in adtools. This library is exclusively for AmigaOS 4 to make it easy to maintain and to be able to add all the missing clib2 functions that are hard to add on 68k Amigas. The goal is to make it POSIX compliant and also fix any C++ problems that exist with newer compilers (amiga-news.de reported).
Yesterday he has released the seventh beta version with the following changes:
- Added new open source pthread library (and removed the old one)
- Fixed ncurses/termios problem
- Fixed non-blocking stdin when used with socket and poll
- Changed DOS library requirements to v52 instead of v54
- Added misc folder to SDK installation and package that contain terminfo entries
- Fixed a bug in spawnv function was causing a bad exe filename and a memory leak
- Added flock function. Fixed a problem on record_locking was not allocating memory correctly
- Added stdio_ext functions (except __freadptr)
- More bug fixes and improvements

Floppy disk images on PC and Mac: Greaseweazle Tools 1.3
Keir Fraser's "Greaseweazle" does - similar to Kryoflux - read the magnetic information on a floppy disk independently from the format used and saves as much information as possible to generate a so-called "Flux Level Image" in Supercard format (SCP), which enables reading and back-writing of copy-protected disks (amiga-news.de reported)
The adapter gets connected between a floppy disk drive - e.g. a standard 3.5" PC one - and a USB port of the PC or Mac. Yesterday version 1.3 of the Greaseweazle Tools was released providing the following changes:
- gw: New formats ibm.800 and ibm.2880
- gw: New image format *.MGT

Demo scene: "Nano Gems" offers selection of the best intros
The "Nano Gems" page, a subpage of the demo platform Demozoo, gives a curated selection of the best small intros from the demo scene. It aims to give a quick overview of what kind of small intros exist in different size categories and platforms. The intros are sorted by date and alphabet, which in no way reflects a ranking. The productions in this list are curated and suggested by members of the "Sizecoding Discord". Additional productions may be suggested.

Newspaper: Guardian article with Amiga 500 picture
In the Guardian article "Why Japan’s war on disks could prove to be another flop" published today, a picture of an Amiga 500 opens the report about Japan’s Minister of Digital Affairs, Taro Kono, who after abolishing the fax now wants to banish the floppy disk as well - but meets resistance from bureaucrats in the process. Emulator: QEMU 7.1.0 released
QEMU is an open source computer emulator and virtualizer. QEMU is able to emulate a complete computer in software without the need of hardware virtualization. So it is possible to emulate Amiga operating systems like AROS, AmigaOS or MorphOS on QEMU. This support is provided by QEMU developer Zoltan Balaton, who gives lots of tips and info on a dedicated webseite (see also our Excursion of Amiga operating systems on non-native hardware).
According to Zoltan Balaton, the now released version 7.1.0 (changelog) fixes a potential incomplete DMA on the Sam460ex, which only affected AmigaOS 4. (dr)
