Email tool: Excelate Victory
On the above page the e-mail tool Excelate Victory is announced for December
2000. It supports POP3 (e-mail receiving), SMTP (e-mail sending) and MIME (attachments)
with 13 easy to use commands. This allows for example the easy programming of an
e-mail client using ARexx respectively in general the easy implementation of
e-mail applications. As an example a word processor could be easily enhanced
accordingly. A restriction on a certain language doesn't seem to exist. Czech
Amiga News lists C, Blitz BASIC, AmigaE etc. and AmigaDOS-Scripts,
ARexx-Programme, SCALA, CanDO...

Easy Publishers: E-mail Problems
Because of work on our own telephone installation the Easy publishers can only
answer to incoming e-mails in a restricted way until 13. November 2000. For
urgent things it is recommended to use normal mail or the telephone
(address). Important things may be mailed to the
following e-mail address:
ricco.clemens@gmx.de.
These will probably be answered at the end of a week. The publishers ask for your
understanding.

CS&E Back Again
CS&E not completely gone
As David Connolly, director of CS&E, announced, CS&E England has left
the Amiga market. After long discussions, David Connolly has decided
to hand over the Amiga part of CS&E to the newly appointed sales
director, Dirk Harlaar.
Based in Germany, this branch of CS&E will focus on games distribution
for the Amiga as well as the PC. The forthcoming educational software
"Cosmos Fun Class" is at this time being translated into German and
Dutch, in order to reach a wider audience.
Further products can not yet be announced, as CS&E has just started
this branch, and is still looking for games developers who want to
publish their work through their outlets.

CS&E Retireing from the Amiga Market
«Farewell from CS&E, Dear friends,
maintaining a commercial business in the Amiga market has become
increasingly difficult. I don't just mean in terms of the poor sales, but in
terms of maintaining professional communication and business relationships.
I don't feel I am able to offer a truly professional service for the Amiga
as I have failed on both these counts. I have made inproper comments on
mailing lists and failed to attract developers to sign for CS&E.
As I have made the announcement before that CS&E would leave the classic
Amiga but come back for the next generation, it is with regret that I have
to say this time the company is leaving the Amiga to concentrate on the PC
development.
Amiga Survivor will be continuing as a non-profit making magazine
through the editorial staff but CS&E will continue to lend a hand in taking
orders.
I wish the Amiga all the best and will be keeping a very close eye on
all the developments as an eager customer.»

FPSE V0.08 Amiga Revision 5
Mathias Roslund released the version 0.08 Amiga Revision 5 of the Open
Source Playstation Emulator "FPSE" (Free PlayStation Emulator)
on October 27th, 2000. This is a minor update which mainly concerns
people that have SCSI errors. In detail, following things
have changed:
- New: MDEC movies can now be decoded in gray scale which results in a speed-up. You can activate this option with -g.
- New: Support for 24Bit-PSX-Screens. This should make MDECs look like the original on the console.
- Change: The CD-Code has been changed. CMD_READ is now used instead of direct SCSI.
This should work with all CD-ROMs. However only sektors with 2048 Bytes are supported. Games with different
sector sizes will not work properly.
The emulator runs on PPC-Amigas with 32MB RAM, WarpUP V4, CGFX V3 and requires a PSX-BIOS.
