Now it is possible to suggest products you are interested in or which stem from yourself.
At the time being more than 120 products, websites, and dealers are listed. Also relevant links can
be added to the lists (e.g. a workshop for a product on your homepage).
For further questions a FAQ was created.

Amiga Network News more Comfortable
Christian Kemp did a technical extension of the Amiga Network News website (ANN),
re-activated the notify service, and changed the HTML code.
Now the page optionally supports cookies. If cookies are active the current
settings, own name, and e-mail address is saved to cookies. This facilitates entering of comments.
The notify service was re-activated, so subscribers are automatically informed about updates, again.
The layout was reset to the previous version and all of the MS Internet Explorer specific changes
has been removed, since it seemed to be impossible to request all of the Amiga browser variants,
which indeed announce themselves as CSS2 capable browsers via spoofing, but do not support every
CSS2 feature.
Amiga Network News offers commentable topical messages from the Amiga sector.

dynAMIte CD Version News
The recently started dynAMIte CD project is progressing in some way, but unfortunately not
as fast as we had hoped. We are on a good way to it, but still need some pre-orders to
achieve a minimum of 100. We got some questions about the content of the CD:
- dynAMIte (the game itself will stay freeware!)
- New dynAMIte Gfx-Styles
- New dynAMIte Sample sets
- At least 100 new levels
- Extended manual in any imaginable language
- Big Intro
- CD sound track
- and some more surprises which we hopefully will be able announce, soon.
We are looking forward to more pre-orders!

Amiga Arena: Special Price for VideoEasel
In co-operation with Thomas Richter Amiga Arena makes VideoEasel available at a
special price. The special price is valid until the 31.06.2001. You can find the
special price campaign in the section "Aktionen"!
About VideoEasel:
It is tricky to describe this program, it's best described as a "mathematical
toy", entertainment on the highest level.
Maybe Conway's "Game of Life" is known, a cellular automaton that can be used to
imitate "biological looking" processes. At its time this "game" went through the
press, with its variations. Indeed VE can deal yet more; things like the kinetic
gas theory, oscillating chemical reactions, simulated circuits, diffusion
processes and more can be simulated. Own automatons can be developed, VE is
programmable.
The idea is simple: the screen is divided in cells (the screen pixels),
the condition of a grid pixel at the time t+1 then depends on the condition of
the cell itself and their neighborhood at the time t via a simple (programmable)
rule. You can here already simulate very complex processes with very simple
rules, and the results aren't always easily predictable. some of the automatons
have serious applications and are used as models in the statical physics ( grid
gas, Ising model of the ferromagnetism), partly it's just an interesting toy
(Game of Life, Brian's Brain, many more).
VE comes with a manual that contains several dozens experiments next to example
data starting points. Just test out the demo version.
Further information can be found at
Thor Software.

Digital Almanac III - Update and News
There's again an update of the astronomical program ´Digital Almanac
III´ with new features and improvements. The new version is numbered 3.3.
Highlights this time are:
- Calculation of "Killer asteroids" (so called PHAs). Who comes nearest to the
earth?
- IFF ANIM compression now also in the PPC mode. For animations and pictures
only the actual star map is saved, not the whole screen anymore.
- Extended toolbar with buttons in the GlowIcon style by Martin Merz.
- The DA III screen has now a name, so that some commodities (for example MCP)
can access it. With a new menu item you can now fade in the screen bar with
depth gadget.
Bugfixes:
- The ways of several small bodies was drawn wrong because of a false Perihel
calculation.
- The printout was unfortunately distorted since several versions.
This error was unfortunately discovered just now.
As usual, the update will be sent to all registered users via email.
Remarks to WinUAE and MorphOS:
DA III runs perfectly under the new WinUAE JIT version in the 020/FPU mode.
Under older UAE versions (for example: Cloanto's latest version in the AmigaForever
v4) DA III is only usable with the non-FPU version in the pure 020 mode, as the
FPU emulation here is still buggy. DA III in all versions does not run under
MorphOS. It seems that not all FPU instructions are correctly emulated. Only the
020 version runs with restrictions. A special MorphOS version will definitely
not happen. When the WarpOS version of DA III runs stable under MorphOS, a
special MorphOS version becomes unnecessary.
PC port?
DA III won't be ported to Windows, Linux or another OS. Previous requests for
such a port had unfortunately to be refused. DA III is and
keeps an Amiga program. Especially under Windows there's a big number of similar
programs of high value. (ps)

AMPlifier V2.26
AMPlifier is in the first line a comfortable player program for MP3
(MPEG) audio, but can also play different 16-bit sound formats (AIFF,
MAUD, WAV, RAW). AMPlifier supports hardware based MPEG audio decoder as much as
software decoding via MPEGA.library.
The graphical design can be fit to everybody's own likings via so called 'skins'.
As the same system as in WinAMP is used there are several thousands ready skins
available.
Now AMPlifier is available in a new version with several new functions.
- Shoutcast/Icecast MP3 streaming ('.m3u' and '.pls')
- ID3v2 tag support
- new AREXX instructions
- 8-bit WAV support

c't issue 10/2001: Amiga-Comeback?
On page 32 of the latest c't (German computer print magazine), the following can be read:
»Amiga Comeback?
Despite otherwise read rumors Sharp's for
the end of the year announced Zaurus PDA will not run with a new developed Amiga
OS. Instead of this a specially adapted version of RedHat-Linux will be used.
Amiga Incorporated, the remainder of the same
named computer manufacturer with rich traditions, will indeed develop numerous
Java applications for the organizer, so that the GUI may indeed remind of old
Amiga times. (dal)« (ps)
