Start menu: AmiStart version 0.63 and new website
AMIGAplus wrote:
Darius Brewka has published the new version 0.63 of AmiStart. AmiStart is a Windows like start menu with quick-launchbar, drag&drop-support and a flexible graphical surface but also allows the transparency, rounded edges, background-textures and much more. In the new version AmiStart offers also the so called shape-layer which are flexible and programmable skins for controlling external applications like ARexx. The shape-layer of Songplayer is an example.
Besides this a new website of AmiStart has gone online which is hosted by GFX-BASE. (ps) (Translation: dr)

PageStream also for AmigaOS 4 and Amithlon?
Most of the participants of a former opinion poll of Grasshopper LLC concerning the future of the DTP-program PageStream voted for a port to Amiga OS 4, MacOS X and Linux x86. Deron Kazmeier thinks that a port to AmigaOS 4 is practicable when the system will be available on market. A special adaption to Amithlon is also possible.

We're Being Watched - Scientific Paper on the Computer Scene!
This has to do with an English language 23 page scientific document from George Borzyskowsky of Perth University, a document which is concerned with the subjects of `The Hacker Scene' and associated cultural art forms. The PDF (title link) is an interesting read and offers food for thought, that here a person standing entirely outside the computer scene tries to analyze it. For his research the scientist used old Aminet CDs and editions of Amiga demo scene diskmags, such as RAW and Grapevine.

Merlancia Clarifies Question on Legal Status
Once again it seems we are left to clarify a normally easy to understand
issue that really is not important to those outside the company/corporate
staff.
The short scoop: Merlancia is still alive and well, despite wishes of
those who would plot for our demise out of spite and malice...
Plesse read this Merlancia Press Release
on this matter for further details.
Editor's remark:
The reason for this statement is probably the link discussed on
ANN, according to which the company Merlancia has been dissolved. (ps)

Pictures from many Amiga shows
Niels Bache from Denmark writes:
Over the last 4 years, I have visited a number of European Amiga shows.
The pictures that I've taken at those shows have until now been stowed
away in a dark and largely unknown corner of cyberspace, where only
relatively few people have actually seen them.
They are now accessible on my new site dedicated to the purpose:
http://nbache.frip.dk/.
So far, pictures from the last four Cologne shows have been put online.
Given time and space, I plan to add some more in the future. Check out
the list on the front page.
