Genesi now AMCC partner
Genesi extends their partnerships of IBM and Freescale with the third PowerPC manufacturer, AMCC. Genesi will contribute system design services for production of board solutions as well as embedded software support for PowerPC processors by AMCC.

The aim of Genesi's developments are so called "pervasive" computer solutions. The Applied Micro Circuits Corporation, a supplier of high performance storage solutions, has bought the rights for the PowerPC 400 from IBM in April 2004. (snx) (Translation: ub)

Amiga 1000: Common order for newly produced Phoenix boards (Update)
By the title link aPEX reports at the amiga-news.de forum, there is a possibility to place a common order for newly produced Phoenix boards. Shipping may start end of January 2005, the price at a volume of five to ten boards would be 210 AUD without SCSI (about 124 Euro) or 260 AUD with SCSI (about 151 Euo) each.

The in the early 90s by the Australian company Phoenix Microtechnologies produced mainboard is an advanced replacement for the original A1000 board. Unlike the Amiga 1000 it features the ECS chipset, a Kickstart 1.3-ROM and 1 MB Chip-RAM and, optionally, SCSI. Also an A2000 videoslot and a battery buffered clock are onboard. There have been around 500 - 1000 boards produced.

The board will need for operation some (socket) chips which are to get from an Amiga mainboard.

Update: (09.12.2004, 23:30, cg)

The boards offered here are the last ones remaining from the final production run in 1991. All 25 boards are sold now. (snx) (Translation: ub)

IBM announces details to Cell-Chip
The new consoles from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will be introduced on the E3 in May next year for the first time. But the winner is already clear: IBM. All consoles will have a CPU from IBM which is unique until now.

Such a news is also the Cell-Chip which IBM together with Sony and Toshiba developed. As a first product a workstation will be developed which contains the Cell-Chip and which will become the developing environment for the PlayStation 3. Cell is related with IBMs POWER-Chips and is a Multi-Core-System with 64-Bit. Each of this Cores could have an operating system independent of the others. Unlike the processor of the PlayStation 2 which is the Emotion Engine, Cell is not mainly optimated for consoles but useful for different purposes. (nba) (Translation: dr)

Update of the Game Exodus: The Last War
Slandmedia has put together an update for "Exodus: The Last War." This version is similar to the previous version (1.2) but runs better on graphic cards.

This was already possible in principle, but only in the clearly slower emulation mode. Along with these improvements the game is also able to run on MorphOS now, and presumably (but not tested) on AmigaOS 4.

APC&TCP and AmiATLAS Development Team: Cooperation Broadened
Because of their very good cooperation up until now between AmiATLAS Development Team and APC&TCP they're going to build on it even more for the future.

Previously the webhosting was taken over, and before approximately a year a forum was founded for all interested and registered users of AmiATLAS.

In the future APC&TCP will undertake more missions, basically serving as the official distributor of AmiATLAS and other new products that are planned for release in the beginning of the coming year.

For a limited time therefore, AmiATLAS is available for an economical price at the new online shop of APC&TCP. (snx) (Translation: dm)

MorphZone and PPCZone Temporarily Unavailable Owing to Attack
MorphZone as well as PPCZone are temporarily not reachable, after an illicit attempt was made to use the server to send spam.

"MorphZone and PPCZone are both down temporarily while repairing a security breach on the server. This breach was part of a spammers attack in an attempt to proliferate SPAM specifically targeted to Internet users in Brazil. While we proceed to work on the cause of the problem, MorphZone and PPCZone will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and the administration of MorphZone hopes to have this cleared up soon.

At this time, we do not believe this attack was by or directed towards any Amiga, MorphOS, or other specific community. Due to the nature of the attack, which we have evidence to believe went to other unrelated servers, this seems to simply be a case of spammers trying to hijack our bandwidth to supply their endless need to send useless e-mail that no one ever reads anyway!" Puzzle game: AmiBrixx
AmiBrixx is a puzzle game for AmigaOS. The player has to remove groups of same coloured gaming pieces from the playing field by clicking them. By removing gaming pieces upper gaming pieces fall down and constitute new groups. The game is over when no groups can be removed.

AmiBrixx is a port of the Windows game Joemino. It supports all skins of that PC game.
